This could prove useful for those of us with the computer version... I don't believe it's a repeat, so unless someone proves me wrong, I think it's okay.
Rather than PM them to you, can we simply post them here, and you add them to the list. I assume that, due to convenience, that will get quite a few more sites posted up here.

Not all of them, most mods in fact I believe you must pay, either for an account to download, or the mods themselves

I know people make/use them to add custom things to PC games and the like but, since I don't have any and don't look into it, I know close to nothing about them and am curious.

Well, that mostly sums it up. It is custom content. You can add more monsters, people, items, dungeons, sidequests, or things that let you cheat. Anything really. It would hep if you said more specifically what you wanted to know.
