Vatel I don't know for sure, but Gaea is sometimes spelt Gaia. So I think it would be safe to assume that Gaia is named what it is because of the relation to the Greek goddess, Gaea.
Wikipedia on Gaea/Gaia yes i agree with her but me and her are saying that:SpellCheck is your BEST BEST friend so spell it right and fix the promblem.!

Zylore Gaea/Geb/Gaia..... all are words for our planet.. EARTH! xp Interesting observation/comparison. Of course Geb is from Egyptian mythology and is actually the Earth God. They still marry the Earth and Heavens though, since Geb marries Nuit, a female equivilent of Uranus. Yes Gaia is a spelling of the Earth Goddess, the personification or anthropomorphism of our planet. Whether Gaia online took the name direct from Greek mythology or via its popularisation in Lovelock's Gaia Hypothesis, or Gaia's popularity in the modern Goddess Movement...

That's a really good question.
How did Gaia come about, anyways?
One day, I was looking around and I seen a banner thing for it on my one site. I think it might have been myspace, but I don't remember. So, I visited and I liked it, so I stayed. smile

I have wondered this myself. It would seem possible that Gaia is namd for the goddess, more likely so, I believe, than being named for the Goddess Movement. After all, gaia is like a world of its own, in a sense.
