Taking a cursory glance around, the Wraik noticed there weren't really any of her ilk in attendance, at least not yet. Maybe it was too early. Hopefully it wasn't anything other than that. She certainly wasn't looking for trouble, after all. Just a good time, and a beach party sounded like it had potential. Besides, demon parties usually meant one thing for sure.
Booze.
She could care less whether the attendants were Winiko or Wraik; all she cared was if they had good taste in alcohol selection. It was hard to tell from looking at her, but she'd come from mixed lineage so species had never meant much to her. She'd come long after all the hostilities had subsided (at least officially), so she'd never quite been able to grasp why others still held onto those old hatreds today. Couldn't we all just get happy and get along?
Suppose not, but sometimes alcohol went a long way to aiding with that. Look at her summoner fathers! No way they'd have ever ended up summoning amulets otherwise...and she liked existing. So, hey!
With a nonchalant air, Atsadi made a beeline for one of the unattended coolers. Now to see what was in stock. Popping open the lid, she started rummaging through the icy water within without hesitation. After a moment, she grumbled, "Why is the rum always gone?"

There were plenty of reasons not to have come to this thing. It wasn't as if any of the little ones would be getting into trouble. She'd successfully managed not to let any of them follow her from home. No worries about any of the home's kids getting lost or in fights or in other kinds of trouble. This was an adults-only party.
There was the matter of all this sand. She'd be cleaning it out of her tails for weeks at this rate. Sand was bad enough for most Winis, but for the nine-tailed kitsune, well...she had enough trouble keeping those clean normally.
So why WAS she here?
Because, darn it, even she needed a break from the house and its responsibilities once in a while to focus on herself. She needed to remember how to have fun. One of the other residents had been particularly obnoxious in pointing that fact out to her. It may have been the challenge issued that he claimed she didn't remember how to have fun that might have given her a push to come out tonight. Maybe. Not that she'd admit it. Durn pest. She needed a drink.
That would help.
Eying one of the coolers, the elder Winiko crossed to relieve one of the chests of one of its precious beverages. At this point, she wasn't sure she cared what kind. ***** Yeah, party time! Seemingly unaware (or at least uncaring) of the sand being kicked up into the air, the elder Winiko bound over the dunes, leaving a whirlwind in his wake. Time to cut loose and have a good time! He bounced along at a springy gait behind the kitsune elder, checking out the assembled demons at a glance. "Lookit all these demons, ready to party!" he chuckled, catching up with the female now perusing the contents of a cooler. After a moment, he glanced down at the cooler, then back up. "Mind passing me a beer, if there's one in there?"After a roll of her eyes, Samantha popped the cap off of a bottle with a claw and passed it to Warren. "Gonna go hit on every woman here? Better get going if you're going to cover the place before the night is out." Hmmph. Persistent pain-in-the-tails.Warren accepted the beer and took a long drink. Yeah, he needed to cut loose a bit, but clearly Samantha needed it more. It'd taken a little bit of work (and a lot of clever manipulation) to get her to come with him to the party, but he figured it'd be good for them both. She needed to relax and remember how to have some fun again.
With a cocky smirk, he shot back, "How could anyone resist this handsome rogue? Don't worry though; I'll save ya' a dance for when you're ready, hot stuff." Stifling laughter, Warren slipped away from the flushed, flustered kitsune before she could manage a comeback.

Owen had just snagged a few bottles of rum for himself to take to a spot closer to the water he always felt at home in, when he overheard the comment behind him. He had noticed there wasn't much left of the 'good stuff' when he had nabbed them, but didn't realize he had taken the last of it. Not that he truly cared, but when he turned and saw who had lamented the lack of the certain alcohol, he quirked a brow in interest. She was aquatic, and intriguing. A Wraik, yes, but did he care? Not in the slightest. His part in the war was more 'play both sides for profit' than it was 'kill all the Wraiks' like many others like him. His tail swished a bit and he smirked as he turned around. "I might be inclined to share," he tells Atsadi with a wink, "but it might cost you." Meanwhile, a very drunk Wraik, who had obviously been hitting the sauce pretty hard already, maybe even before showing up to the party, was half-sauntering, half-staggering in the direction of the coolers. Behind him, where he had apparently been away from most of the revelers, was a pile of rum bottles, some of them broken. It seemed he was more interested in the booze than any sort of 'mingling'. He pawed open the coolers, searching through each one, and the longer he rummaged the more annoyed he looked. Not seeing any more rum, he growls a bit before spotting the flamboyantly dressed Wini that seemed to be running this party. "Oy, goat boy!" he yells at Toby, not caring that he was interacting with some girls at the moment. "Yer outta rum! What y'gonna do about it?" he says with a slightly dangerous look on his face.

Toby puffed up at all of the cutie's fancy talk, she was way outta his league but was totally stroking his ego so he was cool with it. What was an upper class hottie like this doing at his shady beach shindig anyway? Well he was certainly no gentleman, OR a knight for that matter, but he could try to play the part for a bit anyway. He was inclined to think like his brother in regards to the "good girls" hiding secret wild sides. "Toby, your servant, milady." Toby said, tipping her an exaggerated bow as he smoothly scooped an unlabeled bottle from the cooler and slipped it into her offered paw. Grinning he grabbed another of his own. "The best backyard moonshine you'll ever try." He added, then glanced at Travis, who helped "procure" said 'shine. He had caught the eye of the other pretty little thing, of course. He debated asking the other girl if she wanted a drink as well.
"Oh no problem at all, we can just stick together and I can fend off the louts this sorta thing draws out." He assured Amalya, returning to her in an equally confidential lowered voice. Initially he meant Travis, but turned his attention to a questionable wraik staggering nearby as if to perfectly illustrate his point. Before he could say more, he was interrupted by the very inebriated bloke calling to him.
"Ahem...see what I mean?" He moved casually to put himself between Amalya and the wraik, and tossed the bottle of unopened moonshine to the drunk. "That'll knock the barnacles off ya ol' pal!" He said, amicably enough, but waited pointedly for the wraik to move on and quit interrupting his groove.

Atsadi lifted a brow when she was addressed and turned her eyes slowly towards the voice. She hadn't expected another demon of aquatic appearance. Though, she had a private moment of amusement; figures a pirate stole all the rum. Silently, she shushed herself and remembered to behave (at least for now) when someone was at least offering to help her out. With a toothy smirk, she questioned the stranger, "Is that so? Hmm...and just what would it cost me to get some of the good stuff, Mister? It may be tempting, but if the price is too steep..."
She trailed off, momentarily distracted by the commotion a short distance away. She barely resisted smacking her paw against her face when she recognized the raging drunk. Figures her brother would go and make a spectacle of himself. That's probably where all the rum went, now that she thought about it. Best not to associate herself with her sibling, in case he got himself tossed out of the party for harassing the host. Move along, procure herself some of her own booze, and have a good time without being evicted. simple. Grumbling to herself momentarily about barnacles that needed to crawl back under a ship somewhere, she cleared her throat and turned back to the Wini with the bottles in tow. "Err...so about that deal?"

Amalya was surprised to have a bottle placed in her paw rather than having it taken, but quickly covered with a light, musical laugh. "Sir Toby, I am charmed!" Honestly, she had no idea what this 'moonshine' was, but he claimed it was the best she'd ever try and well, she was willing to try anything once! She promptly popped the bottle's cap with ease that belied her earlier princess-ly nature and started to aim a mischievous smile at the roguish male when they were interrupted by an irate guest. For the first time, Amalya's expression seemed to flicker, her smile waned and she attempted to hide her sudden wariness. She hadn't much personal experience with Wraiks, though she'd always been warned to be careful. Her mother had never spoken on the details much, but she'd lived through the war and whenever the topic came up, her expression darkened.
Unconsciously, Amalya had taken a couple of steps back as the drunken Wraik approached. She felt both shame and relief when Toby moved between them, whether on purpose or inadvertently sheltering her, she appreciated the gesture nonetheless. He wasn't the only one coming to her rescue.
The tiny pup, or 'guard dog', that had accompanied Amalya to the party wasn't far away. He'd been preoccupied with checking out the area, but had done little more than giving Toby a warning glare before dismissing him previously. But now, the pup had returned to his mistress at the first shout from the Wraik, fur bristled and growling low. He'd moved to also place himself between her and the Wraik and hadn't gotten far before a heavy paw on his tail kept him from going further. "There, there, Rex...it's okay...good boy," Amalya whispered, hoping to placate her 'guard' and keep him from starting anything.

Cricket2008 Gauntlet thrown, challenge accepted, thought Travis, when the blue-haired girl winked back at him. Let the games begin, he thought as she sat near him.
"Riffraff," he chuckled. "It's not such a bad name. I've been called better.. and worse." Travis paused to take a swig from his bottle. "And I've been called Trouble a time or two, as well," he added with a sly grin.
Before Travis could ask what she was called, a boisterous voice interrupted. He watched the interaction between his brother and the rum-demanding wraik. Ready to aid his sibling should the need arise, Travis saw that the quick-thinking Toby had the situation in hand.
Pointing at the wraik with his bottle, he said, "Now that there is the kind of trouble you 'don't' want to be looking for."

"You sound a bit as if the party is not quite what you were expecting." Indigo wondered if he'd said something wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. "It's early, but I've noticed more arriving. I'm sure it'll liven up soon." He was about to rethink his words since it sounded like he'd just insinuated that she was a rowdy party girl when a commotion near the host drew his attention.
Indicating the wraik that was verbally accosting the one of the gypsy brothers, he said, "Looks like one of the boys started drinking before he came to the party."

Owen was emboldened when her reaction was a smirk, showing she was at least amused by his comment, instead of annoyed. He was about to reply when he too noticed the loud wraik demanding more rum. He looked over towards where the drunk had come from and frowned. Oh, that was where all that rum had gone before he had even arrived. He sighed dramatically at the exchange, hoping the Wini trying to placate him would succeed, and they could all go back to enjoying the party a bit more responsibly than that fellow. When she looked back at him, having been just as distracted, and asked again about his deal, he grinned. "Oh, I don't know, I was just thinking about either a walk or swim, and maybe a bit of conversation?"Barnacle was glad the Winiko was smart enough to offer him liquor, but it wasn't rum. He caught the bottle and then scowled at it. "Doubt it," he says to his comment about knocking his barnacles off, which he briefly wondered if that was a joke directed at his name, but he doubted the Wini knew him. He was about mollified for the moment though, when the little dog started growling at him. He narrowed his eyes at it then looks at the girl trying to keep him still. "Better keep yer furball in check," he tells her with a growl of his own. "I ain't above eating things like that, and this swill he gave me might wash it down real good," he snarks, before turning tail and heading back to his spot away from the rest of the party. The alcohol better be as good as goat boy said, or he'd be back.

Sighing, Toby watched the wraik drunkard retreat, reluctant to actually turn his back on the belligerent fellow. But it was a party, people were supposed to be getting drunk and having fun. He just wondered if that was all they would hear from THAT one. But luckily he wasn't drunk enough to get belligerent back. Talk about cramping his style here though!
Grinning it off, he turned his attention to the tiny growling pup familiar whom he hadn't noticed til now. Ignoring his growls, he gave him a good natured pat on the head then looked at Amalya. "What a chump." He shrugged, then gave a little chuckle. "Fat chance that fella could eat this little hellraiser... I think you already have a knight in shinning fur to protect you." Toby joked, an attempt to lighten the mood. He glanced at Travis, whom he could tell had been watching the situation unfold, and sent him the we-gotta-watch-that-one look. They liked to party and get drunk, but they were generally fun drunks, and they didn't need any wraik party crashers.
"Hey so.." Toby balked slightly, his inclination to ask her if she wanted to go for a walk to get away from the ruder party goers halted. Neither of them was drunk enough to be uninhibited by how THAT would look. She was a classy act after all, and he had just met her. And unfortunately it looked like he had to actually keep an eye on the party, he hadn't thought of that when setting it up. Uhg. Well then, a drink to smooth things over might help. "So yeah, I need another drink!" He continued, grabbing up a bottle of whatever and hastily flicking the cap off.

Atsadi's attention was divided until she saw her brother stagger off with the new bottle, seemingly placated for the moment. Good, maybe he wouldn't get her tossed out by association at this rate. Allowing herself to relax a bit, she returned her full focus to the beaded aquatic Winiko and his offer. She paused, seeming to take serious thought regarding his offer, going so far as to sit back on her haunches and tap a claw on her chin with a pensive look. "Hmm...after much consideration, sir, I find your business proposition acceptable." With a toothy smirk, she offered her paw to shake on the 'deal.' "Atsadi. Shall we go?" The shore line wasn't far, but perhaps enough that conversation would be easier without being interrupted by the rest of the party. Besides, the idea of a swim had her thinking that the cool waters would be welcome to her drying skin. This didn't look to be such a bad deal afterall.

Aw crap, aw crap...Suleta watched anxiously as the belligerent Wraik approached the other pair. She could just see it now...she'd been the one to drag the princess out here. If something happened, her mother would have her head. She had tensed, ready to go to her friend's aid, but had hesitated when the other brother had stepped forth to intervene. Though filled with worry, Suleta managed to relax when the Wraik turned and seemed placated by the bottle he'd been offered. What a relief.
Settling her ruffled wings against her back, she turned to Travis with a mutter. "There's 'trouble', and then there's 'trouble'," she noted evenly, putting a change of emphasis on the word. "And that...is not the fun kind," she finished with a huff and a passing glare aimed in the retreating Wraik's direction.
With a sigh, she turned back to the hooved Wini with a somewhat weary smile. "So, what's a girl gotta' do to get a drink around here?" Spirits knew she needed one, especially now!

If Amalya was horrified by the Wraik's remark as was expected, she didn't show it. Her face was a picture of royal outrage as the drunk staggered away with his prize. "How horrid!" she exclaimed breathlessly once only Toby remained in hearing range. She quickly took her paw to turn Rex towards her, leaning down into the guard pup's face. "Rex. I forbid you from biting that wretch. It might make you sick." Or drunk. Or maybe both.
Spun around and receiving pats on the head, Rex cocked his head at his mistress for a moment, seeming to ponder her words. Then, he barked enthusiastically as if he understood, his tail wagging furiously in the sand.
Amalya seemed sated and scratched the pup's ear with a claw before he resumed snuffling about in the sand nearby. "He's a good bodyguard," she agreed with Toby with a smile, visibly more relaxed than she had been just moments ago. She seemed puzzled for a moment at his sudden hesitation, then remembered her own drink. She'd popped the bottle open, then forgotten she'd been holding it in her other paw. "Indeed, you do, dear sir," she chuckled softly, holding up her own at a slight tilt. "Cheers!" After the offered toast, she took a drink, curious about this 'shine' stuff. Not that she was new to alcohol...far from it...but the 'shine had an unfamiliar burn that forced her to stop and cough (as ladylike as possible) into her other paw. "Oh my, that is strong..."

The kitsune tipped the bottle back again fully, taking a long draw before pausing for breath. She wasn't even paying that much attention to what she was drinking anymore. She knew it was something that tasted vaguely fruity and fairly alcoholic and couldn't have told anyone more than that. Or how many she might have had at this point. Her cheeks were still a bit warm, but whether from her previous embarrassment or from the alcohol, it was hard to say.
Stupid, goofy oaf. Why did she let him get her all flustered like that? She knew he wasn't serious; he was always acting like that. He was likely off right now hitting on every pretty girl at the party. It wasn't as if he'd meant anything he said earlier. Not that she cared or anything...
A sudden commotion pulled her from her internal grumblings. Terse tones and raised voices drew her eyes towards one individual making a beeline for a small group of Winis...and she instantly tensed.
Wraik.
She wasn't just going to sit by if one of those things was about to make trouble. Growling, she rose to her paws and set a course for the disturbance.***** Not a bad sort of shindig, even if it wasn't a huge party. Plenty of eye candy about. Warren eyed a dark lady elder, admiring her glowing markings, before moving on. That little butterfly chick was cute. He paused for a bit on the regal looking lady speaking to the host. Good grief, look at all that hair. He wondered for a moment's amusement just how much maintenance that took to keep it so shiny. Probably similar to a multitude of tails, he figured with a chuckle.
Yes, plenty of lovelies to look at. Of course, they all seemed to be already engaged with others. Shame. Ah well, it wasn't so bad. Plenty to drink as well.
maybe a bit too much for some.
He cast a glance towards the ranting drunk and shook his head with amusement. Some folks just couldn't hold their booze. He was about to dismiss the incident, as it seemed like something that would be handled easily without interference when a certain detail of the situation triggered a thought.
Wraik.
Ah, dammit. Stifling a curse, he tossed his empty beer bottle into a growing pile and turned on his heels to bound back over the sands.***** Eyes fixed on the drunken Wraik, Samantha lost sight of everything else until she walked face first into a chest full of fluff. She stopped short and back-pedaled, growling at the elder who blocked her way. "Move, Warren. There's gonna be trouble.""No there's not. Just sit those lovely tails back down and try to have a nice time, eh Sam?"The kitsune growled again, irritation rising. Someone was going to get hurt if this oblivious galoot didn't get out of her way. She needed to protect those poor Winiko! "Warren! This isn't a joke! They're here! They're going to hurt someone!"Warren frowned, sidestepping to keep in front of Samantha as she tried to move around him. "They're not hurting anyone. One of them had a bit much to drink is all. They're not plotting anything. They just want to cut loose like the rest of us.""You can't believe that," the kitsune sneered, trying once more in vain to feign her way around the elder male. "I've seen what they can do! You haven't! You weren't there!" Though her voice stayed low, it had gained a venomous tone. She'd seen horrors in the war. There were many reasons why she'd fought so hard. She wasn't sure who had first coined the nickname, but when she'd heard it, she'd worn the mantle with pride. The Vengeful Flame. It was a badge of honor.Shoving the petty feelings down, Warren held his ground. It was mildly irritating when she tried to use her experiences in the war as an excuse, but especially when she tried to treat him as if he were naive simply because he hadn't been there as well. With a touch of grumpiness, he shot back in an even tone, "No, no I wasn't. But...I have seen what a bunch of demons with too much alcohol can do when they let things blow way out of proportion." Warren found himself in a stare-down with the kitsune for a long few moments before she broke her emerald gaze away. One ear twitching towards the diffusing 'situation' nearby, Warren took a deep breath. Good. No real issue, as he'd thought. "Take a look for yourself, Sam. Just a guy who had a little more than he could handle. It's all good now, see?"The pointed comment and glare had caused Samantha to pause just long enough for doubt to take hold. Was she wrong? Were the Wraik really not up to something? Had she overreacted? Had she nearly started a situation when there was none? Glancing around the burly male, she noted the two Winiko were indeed safe and the Wraik was retreating with another bottle.
Spirits, what had she almost done?
Dammit, how many bottles...?
Turning, Samantha attempted to retreat with whatever was left of her dignity. "I...yeah, alright fine..."Warren stepped forward, matching pace with Samantha and giving her a friendly shoulder nudge. "Oy, see? All good. Now, why don't you show me where you were getting all those bottles earlier? Must be something pretty good." Catching her flushing a bit, he pushed on teasingly, "Unless you've had enough already. Not becoming a lightweight on me now, are you, Sam?"

Barnacle stalked back to his spot away from the rest of the partygoers and flopped before popping open the stuff goatboy gave him, ignoring all the other looks he was getting. He downed a good amount of it and blinked as it burned hard going down. "Oh hell yeah," he gasps after a bit of a cough. The Winiko hadn't lied, this was some strong stuff. Once he downed this he'd have to go get more and ask him what the stuff was for future reference. And he better not run out of it either unless he had something even better!Owen was just as relieved as the others that the brown Wraik seemed to calm down once he obtained more liquor and he looked back Atsadi as she sat and looked very pensive about his offer. He tilted his head but was still smiling confidently as he watched her. As she accepted he grinned widely, not seeming surprised at all by her acceptance. He even appreciated the phrasing of it, as business was how he treated almost everything. He accepted her proffered paw and replied "Owen. Owen Bronzeclaw. Yes, yes we should," he answered her, glad to get away from the hubbub around the coolers, and would turn to lead the way.
