I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Mereth Nuin Giliath (Feast of Starlight) Temper: Pure Personality: Born into a loving family, Mereth was never plagued with insecurities like her mother or father. To them, she was everything no matter who she became or what she looked like. It's the way she learned to love, pure and simple as a child with no reservations or conditions placed on that love. Because that is what love is, pure and simple. With her family's penchant for being named after angels, demons, and stars it would be expected that Mereth could seem aloof, cold, or even remote as stars often seem. But if you were close to that star? You could feel the warmth of it, a shining and benevolent soul. Her grandmother belittled her mother for having a dark coat, one that she shares but with it came a heart full of light. She will never experience the painful foalhoods her mother and father lived through, but she will learn from them. But even stars do not always shine. The light gets buried by wind or storm, and for awhile the light seems lost. In the end though, it always returns. Role Play Sample: I Won't Say I'm in LoveAnything Else?: So a few things about my idea. I love Elvish, and I've always been entranced with starlight and elves. When a chance phrase in one of the hobbit movies struck my fancy, I instantly recalled it and looked for it when I saw this contest. The Feast of Starlight. There's just something beautiful about. We never think about how stars put out heat, they seem so far away and sometimes even cold. But though they are far and we cannot feel their heat, doesn't mean that they don't have heat. It's another thing about what we believe to be true vs. what is true. So basically my concept boils down to this. Mereth is loving and kind and sweet, though sometimes it may not come across as easily as she wishes. Sometimes she may be filled with a sadness that comes and goes for reasons she cannot understand. It has nothing do with her family or how she's arrived, it's just her. But despite these moments of falling into depression (not shining) she will always rebound with time (the clouds fade away and the star shines on). I think perhaps that her essential problem is that her heart is so big, so full of love that sometimes she cares too much in a world like ours. Which let's be honest, if you've got to have a fault I'd rather have that one. But anyways wanted to put that out there so that you would know it would be a concept I wanted to explore, depression not because of circumstances or whatever just because sometimes depression just is. Sometimes you love things so much that, well you cannot understand how others could be so cavalier about it. Thanks for the opportunity to be apart of an amazing family!

I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Cordelia (meaning heart. It is the name of a legendary queen, moon of Uranus, and asteroid) Temper: Vigilant Personality: Having grown up with the stories of what her parents went through, little Cordelia loves looking out for others. She may be the middle child, but she will defend her siblings both older and younger with everything she has. She will also do that to anyone who seems to be in be in need, feeling it is her duty to stick up for the little guy. The little foal never wants anyone to feel like her parents were made to feel, she wants people to know she is looking out for them. However, this sometimes gets little Cordelia in trouble because those who do not want her interfering will fight with her. She does try to resolve things with her words, but she will resort to action, if the offender will not listen. Cordelia knows that she is different than others, thanks to the spirits, but the little one doesn't seem to mind. On the contrary, she embraces her differences, thinking it just makes her special. Having the love of her parents, the little filly believes that they do not mind how she looks either. Also, she is proud of her mixed heritage, it makes her feel she is one of a kind. She is also a filly with a lot of heart, willing to help wherever she can. No matter what her parents ask her to do, she puts everything she can into it. If she upsets someone, she is usually quick to apologize...if they have not been mean to others. She sometimes does more than she needs to sometimes and doesn't like to ask for help. Her stubbornness can sometimes get her hurt, since she will try to lift things she is too small to handle or go places that are dangerous for her. Cordy is very much a sponge when it comes to information and stories, since she has a love of learning. She has a photographic memory, remembering every story her father ever told her. The foal is always eager when it comes to things her father or anyone else wants to teach them. When her father is too busy, she will tell the stories in his place. Her memory also helps when someone is looking for something or when information is forgotten by others. The drawback to her memory is she cannot forget things that are painful, such as a death. So she has learned to try to fill her mind with more happy thoughts, to cover up the ones that bring her pain. Role Play Sample: Little WondersAnything Else?: Some plot ideas- Nobody Picks on my Family= Someone starts picking one of her siblings or parents (could even be grandparents). Cordelia decides to stick up for them. It would be fun to see what would happen, if her words get her into trouble. Daddy's Little Girl= Cordelia loves hearing the stories her father tells, it is a favorite part of her day. She would curl up next to him and listen with rapt attention. I can see her shadowing him as he went around his day, wanting to be like him. Also, could see her starting to doze at night and when her father tries to nudge her to bed, she insists he finish a story he is working on. Cordy...are you okay?!= Cordy would be trying to clear a log that had been knocked into their sleeping area during a storm. Not wanting to ask for help, she decided she could do it all on her own, though it was way too big for her. The log started to roll a little and before she could move her tail, it got stuck under the log. Realizing she was in trouble, she would have to call for help, until her family would arrive. These are just a few ideas, I would be happy to plot if I win her. I would imagine that she would stay close to her family, even after she starts a family of her own. I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Cygni - Named for the constellation Cygnus, the swan Temper: Audacious Personality: When Cygni is just a foal, she is very soft spoken. Tending to keep to herself when not with her family. This makes it difficult for her to really get close others and make friends. Though she will attempt to get close to those she thinks are interesting. This is not limited to either their personality, or their appearance. She could find their family dynamic or one particular quirk they have enough to try and get closer to them. Often she will lose interest. Especially if the other doesn't seem interested in anything about herself. This may seem selfish, but mostly this is seen as a way her to expand herself and others around her. Her own way of getting others used to strange things around them. That is the ultimate goal of her life as a foal. As she grows older, she becomes more bold in her everyday life. Going out and finding the things that others may not be as willing to find themselves. Her everyday quests include things like finding plants that grow in difficult to reach places, or sometimes even trying to find the territory of a Walker. The more difficult as such are not given too often as most would feel bad sending her to what they would believe is her death. This is how she will carry out most of her early adult life. It's simply the only thing she knew. Beyond her young adult life, she becomes a bit more calm. She would still go out and search for things, but becomes more easy going. Talking on less missions and being more content to find herself rather than this for others. During this time she has settled down. Easily found in one place rather than moving all over the land. Though she is easily more settled down, she still will be willing to leave her home for extended periods of time. She will even collect things from where she has been. Now she has a more permanent place to keep her collection it gives her solace in some way. No matter who she in contact with out how old she gets though, she will always make time for her family. Above all else they are important to her. When she does extend her own family, she plans on making sure her siblings and parents are always a part of their lives. She wants to make sure that they have the kind of closeness that she had always felt growing up. Cygni's personality doesn't change terribly much as she grows. Always one to speak up against others who she believes are wrong and even more so when she wants to get her way. She has no problem making sure that everyone knows what she wants and how she is going too about getting it. The only ones that she will even be sure to give up what she wants for is her family. This is her core being. She can be sweet and kind when she wants to be. And when she is angry other should watch out for her fury for it knows no bounds. Buy all in all she is a mare who simply knows what she wants and makes sure others know as well. Role Play Sample: Walking on Thin Ice & Beauty in EverythingAnything Else?: Only solid plot ideas are all the family RP and I would like her to meet a couple different walkers in her journeys! Beyond that she will be open to simply meeting everyone and anyone that she can! Nothing will hold her back!

She sees herself to have more of a male figure, exploring, learning to battle, learning how to hunt and more. She's more of a warrior. She looks out for her family and senses a distance in her parents' past, not knowing their history. Things tend to go her way because she needs to be the dominant, though younger sister. I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Amphitrite (Greek name composed of the elements amphi "around, of both kinds, on both sides," and the Triton "sea," hence "around the sea" or "on both sides of the sea." In mythology, this is the name of a sea goddess, who became the consort of Poseidon. It is also the name of an asteroid.) Temper: Acceptant Personality: Amphi as she likes to be called by her family is a kind hearted filly how has bounds of energy. She loves her family and they are her everything. She can be silly and will go out of her way to be extra silly and goofy to make others smile. She can be the 'class clown' at times but know not to go too far….most of the time anyways(she learns as she gets older) As she gets older she will calm, but she has an open view of the world. She wants an ideal love like her parents and believes love can be found everywhere/anywhere which may make her a little naïve and falls in love easy. She will have a travelers sole wanting to see the world and learn of it, but she will always return home to her family. Role Play Sample: Most recent I have others though Im slow but do love to rp. Anything Else?: All the family interactions. She has potential for several plots for development as a foal and as she grows being a little promiscuous learning what true love is. I could see her getting taken for granted , being fooled by a mean individual and her family or a potential true love helps save her from the situation. I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Rasalhague (a star in the Ophiuchus constellation) Temper: Devoted Personality: Rasa will listen with rapt adoration to her father's storytelling, and attempt (horribly at first) to tell some of her own. It's more than likely she'll "hero-worship" her father, learning everything she possibly can from him. Rasa will do her best to not let either parent down, seeking to show them just how much she loves both (even if she favors her papa more). She'll do random things to assure her mother she's not trying to play favorites, such as finding various "trinkets" to shower her with. I foresee a magpie-like tendency in Rasa... as a foal, at least. I'm not quite sure if this habit will carry over into adulthood or not. She may switch over to more "grown-up" things to do, such as helping gather food for the family or obtaining anything else they might need. Role Play Sample: Rainbows & Bonding...?Anything Else?: I fully intend to keep her with her family as much as possible. However... It's possible she may "go exploring" on her own every now and then when she's older. During these little excursions I plan to put her into interesting situations in an attempt to flesh out her personality and whatnot a bit more. I WILL NOT attempt to have her become a Cursed Walker, though... it's possible she may go on a journey to obtain an Angeni Charm to "cure" someone. Either it'd be someone she fell in love with or to help a friend in their quest to aid one of their loved ones.

I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Andromeda
Temper: Reserved.
Personality:
Andromeda is her mothers daughter, she constantly wants to please everyone, however it’s not until she’s older she learns the lesson that you will never please everyone. This however is not something, even after learning, she gives into and often times still tries to please everyone one and frequently at her own detriment. She goes out of her way to meet the expectations of her parents, though they never ask anything of her she still tries to be the best daughter, someone they can be proud of. She likes receiving compliments and will do anything for a kind word.
This predominating quality in Andromeda is easily exploited and she can be found running errands for her siblings when young and as she ages this becomes more and more marred. Classical ‘bully’ types easily pick up on Andromeda’s nature to please and soon is made to do things for their own entertainment. Andromeda away from others then becomes withdrawn, her view of things becoming progressively warped. The love of her parents comforts her but she can’t always draw upon this strength as she has to grow up and find her own way in the wider world.
As an adult she sees not everyone is good company and has a damaging effect on her, she doesn’t like to see negativity in life but she knowns she must push away from certain characters to protect herself.
Besides Andromeda’s nature to please which dominates her character she also has taken on the love for a story from her father. Andromeda loves the ones with happy endings but equally she is strangely drawn to those with more melancholy plot lines; lost loves, longing and devotion to causes which are never rewarded. This maybe due to the reason she herself lives that life, always wanting to please others but never quite succeeding to fulfil everyone she meets desires and wishes.
She will always remain close to her parents, they are her rocks however as she ages her fathers tales become the bedtime stores she knows from her foal hood that she now knows by heart so she begins to travel further afield to collect other tales; of lost loves, broken hearts, moral foundations and messages. She exchanges foreign tales to others in exchange for their own building her own internal library and returning home to refuel on her parents love and share her tales.

I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Aquila Temper: Protective Personality: Aquila knows how much she is loved and how lucky she is to have been born into the family she has. However, she wasn't always aware of this. As a foal, she had taken each day for granted, thinking that the overwhelming amount of love was common place and she found it stifling. The constant worry that her parents showered her with, the questions, the assurances--she knew they loved her but sometimes she had just wanted space. As she grew older, her streak of independence had taken hold of her and she longed to explore the far reaches of the land, meet new people and see all the wonders that had to be offered. And she did. But it was only as she left her family did she really realize how much she missed them and worried for them. Parents are meant to take care of their children, but Aquila soon finds that her defining characteristic is how much she wishes to take care of her parents in turn. Newly an adult and her parents not getting any younger and perhaps, fully aware now of their pain they had before her birth, she spends much of her time doting and caring for the couple as they had done to her whenshe was young. She worries if they are eating enough, if they are comfortable, if perhaps they should walk south for the winters to ease the cold, if they are lonely, if the den is cool enough in the summer. On and on and on. Her siblings might joke about being a mother hen, but she turns her attention as easily to them as she does to her parents. She loves to shower her family with little gifts ( a rose I found on my walk that matched your coat, a few piece of your favorite fruit that I saw at the market, this little trinket that you were eyeing on our last walk) and while she enjoys gifts in return, she really just enjoys showing her family how much she loves them in return. She still travels, adventuring and wondering and seeing the world, but now she knows that she will always return home. Role Play Sample: Kindred Spirits Anything Else?: This family is so wonderful! Code: I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Lilliana Temper: Relinquished Personality: She will grow to learn that not everything being told is the solid truth. She will learn that to get to the truth she will need to go further and ask more questions even when it is out of her reach. The constellations she will grow to learn casually from her father as she grows to learn to understand her mother more. Growing up with her siblings she will come to understand for her to get somewhere, whether physically or mentally, she will have to give up a part of herself to become who she is meant to be. Lilliana will remain loyal to her family and if there are any doubts in her life, she will seek for her own answers. When that is not available, only then will she return to her parents for advice and what nots. She will gladly express what she feels to her family without hiding any secrets. (sorry had too many days at work i might have typing errors and things.) I'll Keep The Basket Safe! Foal Name: Saraneth Temper: TBD Personality: As a foal, Saraneth is at times slightly overwhelmed by her family's well-meaning affections. Quiet and reserved, she struggles to be half as warm and welcoming as her parents and siblings, and often over-examines those times that she falls short. She is most comfortable during the hush of her father's hunting lessons, enjoying the closeness of companionship without being forced to express herself directly. But the hunt is a dual-edged blade for Saraneth. She will find that she enjoys more than just the company, that she revels in tracking and taking down creatures larger than herself. While somewhat clumsy at stealth in her youth, Saraneth will grow into a capable, elegant huntress, which will make her struggle with these darker tendencies all the more keen. However, due to her upbringing, she understands what is right and good, and these will temper her in the following years as she comes to terms with her bloodline. As an adult, while she still prefers to retain her silence in most situations, her listening skills - cultivated as a reticent foal - make her an adept mediator and a fair judge. Convincing, soft-spoken, but nonetheless deadly if she so chooses. I think I speak for both myself and Uta when I say that you guys just blew our socks off. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for the lovely, thoughtful entries that you all submitted. We had the most difficult time selecting a winner. We went back and forth at length, and I can honestly say that quite a number of you are on my list for future basket gifting. This family is very dear to my heart. It's humbling to see how much interest there was in our little girl.
We'd like to thank you all for entering our contest. We hope you'll return for future ones, and that we'll have quite a few more babies to give out next time.
Without further adieu, I would like to announce Teh Cheryl as our winner for this basket. We loved the development that you showed with little Aquila, and look forward to seeing her in action.
