"I thought you may like it" she said as she made herself comfortable "so, while we wait for our food what else do you like to do? Games of chance can't be the only thing you like to do with yourself" she said as she toyed with the corner of a napkin.

Fickle grinned and reached into his pack that he had sat beside him on the bench. "I've got other games too." He pulled out some playing cards, dice, jacks a few bouncy balls, and a deck of uno cards and set them on the table in an excited manner. "I like all kinds of games." He said vibrantly. "I never go out without at least a few." He was looking at her wondering what kind of games she liked to play.

As much as the filly enjoyed games she was nowhere as knowledgeable in the ones he had, she spent time alone looking up at the stars and reading them, learning about them, trying to discover some unknown star but away from that she read and read and read some more which had made her a loner among her peers. She bit her bottom lip as she shook her head, she had to be truthful right? She couldn't start a new friendship on lies "I am sorry but I don't know those games" she said a little sadly "I know Chess, Orthello, Backgammon, I live a rather solitary life and if truth be told you are the first foal I have come across as I don't venture out much, it is just my Mom and Uncle at home, so I have been brought up on games they like which isn't a bad thing just not exactly foal games." She looked at the games and wondered what they were and how each of them were played, she was curious but a little scared to venture forth in asking how to play one of them (at least) in case she ruined them or list one of the cards or something and she didn't want to do anything to his beloved games.

Fickle's smile didn't fade as she admitted to not knowing about the games he had pulled out. Though he was a bit surprised at first as they were all fairly commonplace games. He knew what it was like to not really have anypony to play with. He was a bit jealous that her guardians would play any game with her but it didn't really show through his exuberance as he responded. "That's okay! I can show you how to play some of these since I don't have those games." He pushed the cards and dice aside leaving the jacks and balls in the middle of the table. "I usually play games alone, it will be fun to play with somepony." He gave her a vibrant grin, oblivious to her concern about losing or damaging his games. "This one is called Jacks. It's pretty simple." He started to explain as he shifted the jacks in a somewhat gathered scattering on the table. "We take turns trying to pick up all the jacks one at a time and catch the ball before it bounces a second time. " He demonstrated this by dropping the ball. He picked up a single jack before catching the ball again. "Each round we increase how many to pick up at a time until someone cannot complete the round." He continued to bounce and take jacks off the table while he explained, hoping it was clear enough. After finishing all 10 jacks he put them back and rolled the ball to her to give it a go. "You try."

The game, like the chance game she played earlier, seemed easy enough, she took the ball from him and swallowed a little "I promise to replace whatever gets lost or damaged by me, just a small warning in case I do anything to your games" she said, fearing she may lose the ball or something. Lunar took a deep breath and let it out and dropped the ball, aiming to pick up on of the jacks but instead missed it and caught the ball, thankfully she didn't knock it off the table or whatever and lose it, that was a good sign when she could be a little clumsy and tried once more, she dropped the ball and this time proceeded in gettng the jack but as the ball fell she wasn't fast enough with turning her hoof around that it rebounded off the back of her hoof and fell to the table only to bounce off onto the floor. "I am so sorry!" She said as she jumped up to try and catch it before it bounced away only to end up pretty much face planting the floor as she got tied up in her chair, tears stinging her eyes and threatening to fall as she tried her hardest not to cry, she didn't want to seem weak in front of the other, something she had been pick on for before and one of the reasons she now happily was a loner.

Fickle laughed lightly at her words before she began to try the game for herself. "Don't worry about it." He commented passively. In his option, she was much more worried then she needed to be. He lost and broke things on a regular basis so it was no big deal to him. He watched her play, starting to get the hang of it. He was smiling, enjoying the moment of sharing his love and knowledge of games with Lunar. Though on her second attempt the ball bounced its way right onto the floor, the blue filly following in a frantic attempt to catch the runaway rubber. Fickle laughed, unable to resist the comical scene that had just played out. But it wasn't a mean sort of laugh. He stood and moved around the table and looked down at her with wide, golden eyes and a small smile. "You okay? That was quite the splendid dive there." He extended a black hoof to help her get up.

"I just have always been taught to be careful with my things so as to not lose them or damage them so losing or damaging someone else just seems wrong" she said as she took his hoof and got up, straightness up her chair once she had her feet firmly back on the ground "thank you for your help and shut it! Stop laughing at me!" She said to him, wanting it to be serious but she couldn't, she wasn't in the mood to be that way or the light hearted way but she couldn't be angry at him either as it just wasn't in her to be. "Just let me get the ball" she said as she noticed it had rolled to a stop near a table at the back so she quckly ran and got it before coming back and handing it to him "I think it is safe to say Jacks are out for the day, maybe a game of cards? Surely I can't hurt myself with those" she said, wondering if paper cuts could happen with cards, if they could happen with cards she would find a way, she was great at finding injury in new games it seems.

Fickle snapped his mouth shut a bit of a surprise flashed through his golden eyes. Her demand to stop laughing at him felt like it was hanging between serious and a joke. He smiled as she fetched the ball. He took his seat again after taking his ball back. "Sure, I know plenty of card games." He said with a light laugh, amused by her apparent paranoia of injuring herself. He tucked the jacks and balls back into his bag along with his dice and playing cards. Leaving the uno deck sitting on the table between them. With a grin, he shuffled them with pretty impressive skill before dealing cards to them both and placing the deck between them. "This one is safe and fun." He said lightly before explaining briefly about how the game was played.

"Thank goodness for that" she said as she watched the impressive shuffling and then picked up the cards after he had dealt them out and looked at them whilst listening to his explanation and thought the game was straight forward enough "so you start?" She asked as she noticed the waitress walk up with their drinks and placed them on the table. "The food will be over momentarily, would you like me to push another table next to this one? It is quite in here at the moment so I don't think it will matter much if you have another table to use as well". Lunar looked up at the waitress and nodded "yes please, that would be great and thank you" she said as she let the waitress go and do what she said she would do and Lunar looked back at the other "so, now, I can show you how bad I am at this game" she joked, knowing it will probably be right.

"Okay." He said and placed a yellow 0 on the yellow nine that was face up as the waitress approached and spoke with lunar. He gave her a smile but said nothing. He was actually looking forward to the banana splits she had mentioned. Fickled laughed brightly. "I think this game is more luck of the draw than skill. " He commented in reply. "It's your turn. Just play a card that is yellow or the same number."

Lunar looked over her cards and noticed a yellow 6 was and put it down on top of it "that is right?" She asked curiously, knowing it was silly asking a question that had an obvious answer to but she just wished to make sure. The waitress came over and placed the food on the table next to them "I am going to bring out the items that don't melt first" she said as she and one other waitress was bring over their order and placed it on the table next to them. Lunar didn't mind, she couldn't stand half melted ice cream so this was fine, she was starving so she couldn't wait to get some food into her stomach "thank you" she said smiling at the other before going back to her game. "This is all of it, enjoy" she said to them as she and the other left and left the two kids get on with their game. "Thank you" Lunar called, taking a sip of her thickshake, the one thing she always got when she came in here.

Fickle nodded. "Yep, just like that." he confirmed. He placed a green six on her card as the waitress came over. He looked up as the waitress set out the non-melty items Lunar had ordered. His eyes went a little wide and blinked. "That's a lot of food." He commented after the waitress pony left them be. He couldn't help but smile though as he took a mouthful of hay fries.

"I am a hungry filly, I have a rather big appetite, my mother hopes it is just a growing spurt or something but lately I can eat over my weight in food so yes, it is a reason why I ordered a couple of extra things for you" she said as she pushed over one of the chocolate muffins "that, the milkshake and the banana split, I couldn't eat in front of you as it would be rude so the least I could do is purchase a couple of extra things for you even if it was just a drink and a muffin or something" she said as she took a sip of her drink and continued "you can take that home with you if you want, they can put it in a bag for you". Lunar said as she placed down a blue 6 and pulled her burger over toward her and took a bite, savoring the taste before swallowing, she loved their veggie burgers "if you want though, since it is a rather large plate, you can help me with the wedges if you want, I always make sure I order a large plate when I come here, it is nice to sit and read here some days just having a snack...which may or may not upset my mother because I won't eat dinner" she said a little sheepishly then softly let out a laugh, she loved her but if it wasn't for her she wouldn't have her love for space.

Fickle laughed lightly in a good-natured manner. She was an interesting filly, not that he wasn't quite the odd one himself. "That was nice of you." He said politely looking just at the things she had gotten for him and wondered how she could each so much because he knew he couldn't eat all this and the banana split later. He would burst. "I will likely have to take you up on that offer to take some of this home for later." He chuckled lightly trying to shake the awkward feeling that was creeping upon him. Taking a long sip from the sweet shake he swallowed and locked away any negativity as he offered her a smile and put a blue 1 on the pile.

Lunar smiled at the other "it was the least I could do" she said as she placed a wild card down on top of the card he just placed down and looked at her own "I will change it to red" she said as she took another bite of her burger and chewed a few times before swallowing it, settling back on the chair a bit and didn't realize her mother had come through the door. As a black pegasus pony with a silver mane a 'star' pattern all over her body and a full moon on her flank walked into the cafe and stopped she looked around to see if she could spot her daughter, notcing her over at a table she walked over to her and stopped at the side and smiled "excuse me, I was just wondering if I could please have a word with my daughter?" She asked politely as she looked at the male. Lunar looked over at the woman and smiled at her "hi mom" she said as looked back at the colt "Fickle, this is my mother, Starry Skies and mom this is a new friend of mine, Fickle, I owed him something to eat so since I was going to get something myself I thought it only fair he join me" . Starry looked at Fickle and nodded hello to him "hi Fickle, it is a pleasure to meet you" she said as she saw her daughter get up. "Please excuse me for a moment, Fickle, I will be back in a second" she said she placed her cards face down on the table "and no cheating!" She said smiling at him, not meaning anything by her comment as she liked to believe he played fair and she went towards the other side of the room to wait for her mother.
