"A little grumpy today, are we not?"
Raine would look towards the book as the witch kept lecturing about businesses and going home, with some deals regarding potions being made and the possibility of getting something for free as long as it costed a gold coin of their currency.
It didn't sound like a bad deal, after all, maybe she was here because of a potion.
The plain explanation the witch gave about auras was so... basic. Even Raine knew that one, in all honesty, she hoped that being a witch she would be able to point out the difference, or at the very least describe what the aura meant. Soul manifestation was something oddly familiar with most of the people she knew. Therefore when she found this particular Aura, she felt there was something different about it. But couldn't just grasp what it was.
"Seems like I've overestimated the witches yet again..."
Raine sighed, peeking into the book as she flipped the pages, hoping something nice would come up... at least something that felt right... as of now, the only lead she had was a gut feeling.

Raine would fall onto her knees as the screech went overboard and was almost unbearable. However, once the witch took her sweet time to silence the little midget, Raine would sigh as it only meant more pressure onto her shoulders.
The witch would yet again ask if she had cleared her mind.
"Kinda hard when you have the whole amazon forest screaming my ears out"
Raine went back up and stared at the book. At first, it was a little weird since the potion didn't have a description, but the more she looked at it, she believed it was too much of a coincidence that the witch's offer would happen to fall into this potion.
"Sanctuary eh?"
"I suppose I do."
Said Raine as she turned on the witch's direction.
"This potion... Sanctuary."
The brunette would then address the potion in the book page.

Raine remained thoughtful for a couple of minutes, the witch kept explaining how the potion worked most of the time and insisted she should made up her mind.
"I didn't come this far to get a lesser version. If I'm going to face it, might as well go big or go home."
Said Raine with conviction as she grinned at the witch.
"I'm sticking with my guns on this... thanks for the advice tho... I'm sure you'll be dying to say 'I told you so' in the future"

Now that she knew where the screams came from and that they would pop up any time she opens the jars, there was a significant reduction on the impact they brought on her. While it still hurt they died quickly as the potion continued it's fabrication.
The witch kept going until she deemed the potion to be ready at last.
"Thank you"
As she mentioned the mind trip, Raine started feeling dizzy for some reason, was the steam from the potion that strong.
"S-so... what's the potion for?"
She dared to ask, a little too late as she held the brewery cup in her hands, while still keeping it on the table as her vision was blurring lightly, not enough for her to succumb to it just yet but it was a noticeable change.

The witch sure loved to take her sweet time for things. Ever since that weird Mist got her all dizzy. Time appeared to run very slowly for Raine, she couldn't even react as the witch got closer to her.
"Wait?"
She was asking just when the blonde woman started counting. And with a simple push, Raine felt 90% of her strength collapsing at once.
Her head was spinning, she lost all forms of balance so it was just fortunate that she happened to land on some mystery chair otherwise she was going straight to the floor.
Raine grunted, but her eyes were sleepy like and everything started swirling around her.
"Miss witch... I don't feel well..."
Soon enough, the witch confessed the trap Raine had willingly put herself into, which made her raise an eyebrow at starts before she glared lightly, trying to adjust her vision so she could at the very least find the blonde witch. She seemed serious about it.
Raine couldn't help but burst into laughter, her? a follower of Death? the witch's ignorance so far was adorable and at the very least helped Raine to ease her mood.
Of course she started coughing a little since she was still dizzy from the Mist.
Some skeletal arms held onto her, but in al honest you didn't need much strength to contain her at this point. Almost as if she just gave up and let herself be taken by this weird experience. She could feel that same strange aura forming around her. Maybe all of this would help her understand just what was this power she found out recently.

The witch would also mention two other judges on their way to bestow judgment upon her, instead of turning her into a screaming root.
"Well... at least I'm not going to be a plant... so there's that..."
She replied, still giggling from the witch's comment regarding her as a follower of death.
"She's almost as cute as her..."
She thought as hse tried to keep herself up to see who those judges were.

The poor brunette had troubles keeping her head together, it was still hilarious that they depicted her as a Death follower. Sure, she took the title of Deathscythe but she never considered herself a Death follower. She only killed under one person's command, and she was long gone. She didn't have the need or the thrill to kill anyone unless provoked.

Yet it was understandable to a degree since most of the Deathscythes followed the shinigami blindly. Something she never understood. She was actually pretty comfortable with her former partner. And she didn't feel like hanging out with the current lord death either. So the title was more of a graduation ceremony for her.

So, the funny witch's name seemed to be Yin by how they addressed one another. According to JJoan, the lizardman. The only friendly out of the bunch. She did sense the kitsune soul on the other individual but didn't give much importance to it. Most likely since her attention laid on 2 out of the 3 had clear reasons to hate her... under misled facts but they had reasons nonetheless.

As they wondered how to deal with her, it was JJoan who actually lend a helping hand with some strange vile. Usually she would refuse it, considering her current situation, the Lizardman could be hiding aswell his reasons to hate her and decided to poison her up.
None the less she was getting dizzy and poor Yin only made her laugh every time anyone addressed her as death follower. The mere idea of it made her sick and wishing to laugh her lungs out.

As the sickness and dizziness went away, she sighed relieved between chuckles.
"...ah.. death follower... that was a good one. Thank's JJoan. I feel better now."
Said to herself, loud enough, she didn't mind anyone hearing.
She knew her body better than anyone, therefore was aware of how weakened she was, but that didn't mean she would simply act scared or any less confident. For her, this was all but a trial in her pursuit of answers. As time progressed, there was a small quarrel between the three, pointing out there was a fourth one missing. And most likely the most lovable out of the four since Lizardman was expected to break her arms. And so JJoan's interrogation would begin. Yet it was clear that most of the people here resented Death for one reason or another.
"Touchy subjects eh?"
Raine leaned down, as to try to get herself more comfortable on the chair, if posslbe, her body was still weakened and would rather be laying on the floor than being on her feet or even sitting. Hopefully JJoan's words would be truth and her strength would come back gradually.
"Talking about a job interview.... ahem."
She added, mostly because how hungry about details they were, it reminded her of her first job interview... one mistake and you feel like you're done for good.
"Okay, Name's first eh JJoan? I go by Raine Taw... mostly Raine. No one actually uses my sure name anymore. Well... except lord Death of course but that only made me less fond of it. Always with the honorifics... even when he plots to get rid of you... but that's another story."
She gave a short chuckle to cut it out from Question one and proceed for the next one.
"Occupation... well... survivor? Can't say I do anything other than a few mercenary jobs. No one's going to openly hire a Rogue Deathscythe. Not when there was the order of execution. I even got myself a date with the Queen of darkness as my personal executioner... fancy that eh? As to what am I?... well a weapon... but I'm... not really sure what else am I. Only thing I know is I'm not human. No matter how much I've been taught to say it in school. My mother... if I could call her that. Always told me I should always answer I'm a human. And when I was a child, sure, I went ahead with it. But as I've grown up... It's just weird... I know she was taking care of me for something... no wonder Death ordered to kill her. But even so... she was a kitsune... and I'm obviously not one. I never had the chance to go into details about this topic, probably because she believed I would spill the beans. But I can assure you I'm a weapon... wouldn't be a Deathscythe if I wasn't one."
Raine tried to be as clear as she could. But in all honesty, who asks about your race at this point? Let alone with every possible detail. But she would humor JJoan since he was nice to her at least.
"As for why I'm here... I already told your friend here I'm looking for answers. I don't know if I'm looking for a person, a thing or whatever... but ever since I grew this strange aura around me. I've been dreaming restlessly about this mountain. I believe the answers I'm seeking for are here. That's all. I want to know what is this... power, skill or whatever this aura brings with it. Also, want to know why I dreamed about a mountain that's off-limits and now led me to be hostage to a chair and partially drugged. Honesty, I wouldn't be here if I didn't had the gut feeling that this place holds the answer to my Questions."

"Well, that's a perk of being enlisted to DMWA I guess... they slowly deprive you of feeling anything... honestly that's no school. It's a boot camp where they try to take away your humanity and simply build killing machines. Something thinks different than Lord Death? Kill him. Someone doesn't like Lord Death? Kill it. It kinda gets repetitive over and over. You just... shrug things off eventually"
The brunette replied as she began to feel uncomfortable on the chair. Each answer she gave seemed to trigger another question.
"Can I... lay on the ground? My back is killing me and I still feel weak"
She asked, maybe she could get away with it.
She was particularly interested in Zai when JJoan asked if it was possible that kitsunes had weapon children, yet Zai's answer didn't exactly clarify things out for her. After all there were a lot of inconsistencies in her childhood. But it was worth the shot.
"I see..."
However, one of the recurrent Questions was how has she escaped the Queen of Darkness. Which was sort of a private topic for her.
"Well... It's not as simple as just saying how I got away. Even now I'm still wondering what the hell happened to us. But I'm sure part of the reasons I'm still alive is because of how much I've spent with her. During trials as Deathscythe one gets a little too close to her... and death. And you learn a lot. What do they like, how do they fight. She's very strict with herself and rarely shows any openings. I can't say it was easy... but even now I don't know why I'm still alive... I should have died back then..."
Raine said as she seemed thoughtful. Even now she didn't understand much of it. How did things escalate the way they did. However, soon a warm smile would cover her concerned face.
"But I'm glad things turned out the way they did... at least for me. Maybe I'm too stubborn to die easily."
