*whacks self* I just did a very, very bad thing... Kuu, you didn't happen to save that large post you did somewhere other than here? I accidently pressed edit post instead of reply and, uh... destroyed it...

EDIT: *sigh of relief* No BBCode, but it is restored.

An NPC: some sort of power-booster who can enhance other's talents for a limited period...?

Heh, it'd make an interesting idea. The opposite idea is pretty good too. We'd have to find a way to incorporate him/her. Decide what side, if any this person's on...
Heehee, I leave that up to you >> ph33r the power of prize giving and the boredom it brings.

At any rate I still haven't finished it but if you want to revise it and then show me I'll be more than happy to put it into a nice sleek text format so everyone can read.

As you may have guessed I'm having RL issues currently so can't get to Gaia half as much as I used to.

It's ok, Kuu, I've had a million things to do recently as well. Throw anything up you like, and if I reply to it before the RPs, bop me a few times.

Just a question but would the power levels absolutely rely on age? I mean, if one child has trained extravegantly (sp?) in one thing, couldn't they be able to reach reasonable or more?

Welp, see, the kids are already very special in that they have powers, they don't need to be progedies as well. We make slack and allow *one* category to slip past into above the age range, but that'll be a reward for exceptionally good posting, etc.

You know how strengths, agility, intellegence and all that is acknowledged in our journals. I was thinking there could be special roleplay events that award a set number of points that go to said abilities.

I mean I know roleplaying is suppose to be the way we go to level up our strengths but it might get daunting on whomever is in charge of that. I mean to read through all the posts that will ensue just to make sure everyone is getting the right amount of attention and level ups.

I say have events that allow for leveling up. Once you acquire the points the player can decide where he/she wants to put them.

ie. An event is held for 5 points. In order to get these points they must follow the guidelines listed. Once the event is over the points are distributed to those that got through okay. So 5 points are rewarded, said player decides to take these points and address Intellegence w 2pts. Strenght w/ 2pts. and Knowledge w/ 1pt.

Or they can save the points and distribute them later after accumulating more points over time. Either way...it makes it easier on whomever is to keep up with all this.

At any rate there's a max number of points that they can reach to level up. It still requires arpee of course but it doesn't buckle people down with having to read through an extensive amount of it just to level up the kids.

And the events can be set up however. Points can be rewarded freely or specifically (ie. points are only given for the intellegence category) and so on...

If you need me to clerify or flesh it out to show you I can. It looks easier then it sounds. I just can't put it in words quite as clearly.

Children Ages:
ALL first generation children will be starting at 13 years old.

ALL second generation children are at 10 years old.

Schooling:
Unless they've failed a grade, first gens are in ninth grade, which is the first year of high school in the American system (since it's based in America and what SSH knows, this is what we're going by).

Second gens are in fifth grade, which is the last year of elementary school.

The schoolyear runs the day after Labor Day until mid-June. The elementary, middle, and high schoolers are located a block from each other.

The American School System:
Kindergarten is their first year, at 5 years old, then it goes on by numbers (1-12). Their last *elementary* schoolyear is 5th grade, they start out at 10 years old. Middle school is sixth-eighth grade, from ages 11(beginning 6th) - 14(ending 8th). High school is 9th-12th grade, from ages 14 - 18. I WILL write up curriculums that they will have the choice to go through so we are all on the same page... It just may take me awhile. wink

AGE ADVANCEMENTS:
Please note: These requirements apply tooo the children, but remember your guardians age with them! Feel free to do guardian development (for example, AriyaLauna currently has a beau who will likely end up being her husband in the next year or two).

1 year aging can happen MAX once per IC month, UNLESS a group art-update is happening, then you may leap to the next stage IF you haven't just recently gotten new artwork (discretion of SSJ/SSH here).

Aging Requirements:
1 participation in official RP (this may be group or solo)
1 solo entry in the journal... done however you'd like
1 Advancement in a skill
A paragraph over what has happened in the past year.

Definition of one post: min. 3 paragraphs.
Defintion of one paragraph: min. 5 sentences
Note: Some discretion may be used by SSJ/SSH either for more or less.

NONE of the AGING requirements may be combined, although they can be related IF done carefully (more about this later).

Example Paragraph:
Note: This is done in the BARE MINIMUM fromat. Please just more creative means such as a journal entry, conversation, or situation that highlights differences or major events in your child's life. SSJ/SSH may use discretion as to the quality of your paragraph/

Megan's Year:
~~ (date) Was a leader in a large group fight at school. Suspended 5 days.
(here, I'd probably ask for some embellishment)
~~ (date) Saw bio-father for first time in 15 months, found herself feeling uncomfortable with and critical of the man she'd once admired the most.
(this is an excellent sentence)
~~ (date) Successfully managed to mimic and manipulate power she'd not had experience with.
(This WOULD require a RP backup previously written since her last age up!)
~~ (date) Had a huge fight with AriyaLauna and Vincent over their courtship, which led to a realization for all involved over how attached to her current life she's become and how fearful she is of losing it.
~~ (date) Pet dog ran away, spent weeks searching. Became more responsible.
(Acceptable enough)

Please note: While not required on all accounts, it would be LOVELY if all the things mentioned was something RPed in the past "year' of the child. Not required, for example, I would certainly not push posting about the dog running away, but it would be nice to see the majority of the differences and reasons behind those changes having been RPed.

I mentioned about about *carefully* relating all the requirements. WARNING: If they look half-slapped together and like it was one story cut into four different posts, I will NOT accept it. Make sure they are SEPARATE even if they are related.

Example (and this is SO mine...not allowed to take it. ^_^ I should make a news article like the one mentioned so we can share there though)
~~ For official RP, response to news article about Evo prejudice and parents of Evo children being targeted.
~~ For skills RP, research of Evo history and prejudice.
~~ For solo RP, school fight scene when kids start making fun of the child's guardian.
~~ For development paragraph, child reflection of how (s)he's changed in the past year either while suspended or in conversation (argument) with guardian or principal/teacher.

When your child has reached the age where you can recieve new artwork, there are these extra requirements (which CAN be combined with age-up requirements):
Anytime between the last growth art and this time, at least one RP with someone else.
At least one advancement in EACH skill category except specialized knowledges.
A determination that, yes, you are playing your child at level. This will be done in a "conference PM" with SSH...probably will just be a "yeah, this is working really well" thing or a "Gee...consider this.." thing...nothing major. The REASON I'm doing this is because we had a lot of our first generation kids doing a lot of things very age and skill inappropriate... I'm not going to hammer over it (if I was, I would have already thrown fits ^_^), but I do want us all to have a reality check.

That makes sense, though I like Kuu's addition of training sessions as well, except for one little thing. You mentioned that all first gens are thirteen and that they are in 9th grade. High school is 14-18 so they can't be in ninth grade, they'd be in 8th grade, yes?

For clarification, what exactly do you mean by skill catagory and specialized knowledges? And, er, conference PMs? >>
PostPosted: Tue Aug 22, 2006 1:57 pm

Conference PMs basically mean that when you PM for an artgrowth request, we PM you back with how well you did RPing wise...sijmply to say "I really liked this,I diidn't like that..." It's just a way to touch basis with eveyrthing.

the other two questions will be answered when I post the skills info

Now with solo RP can it be replaced with two or three colaberate RP's? I ask because I suck at RPing with myself (hense why there is three blank-ish posts in my journal) I figure, just as much work but slightly different bent or something. Maybe make it so that official RP's cannot count towards the 'solo' RP so that it's the players own inicitive that shows through *ponders*

Although it wasn't stated specifically, I hope there was a between-the-lines read there that everything up there is for development. The reason I said a solo RP was because I'd like to see some RPs involving school or things like the required martial arts trainings or a personal discovery/growth or a relationship thing going with the child and guardian.

But, yeah, what I'll do is rewrite that to say I'd like a post t(or something equal to) about something that is very common to the child. Easily done solo, but there's definitely the chance to do it with others...Afterall, they all go to the same school, I imgine some may see each other in a private class, and they all have the ability to meet up...just so long as there is good interaction between the same writer's parent and guardian... Something along those lines.

The year up paragraph though, I really, really would like to see something more than that minimum example that I threw up there...That literally took me about 1 minute, and although it gave me an idea of what happened to (or could have happened, actually) Megan, there wasn't much thought and I could forget it far more easily than if I had put thought into it. And that is definitely solo, but if everything's done well, it'll basically end up as a summary of already RP'd events.

Does that sound fair enough? Make sense?

All right, got it *noddles*

Well while I'm at lunch on my laptop (as it has no net connection to distract me) I am trying to 'force' myself to do a few solo RP's. Got one about Candice getting in trouble 'cause she refuses to train (would prefer to play videogames) and so Joshua locked her in her room and told her she could only leave if she phased through the door *snickers* Hopefully I'll finish that in decent time and it won't suck too much ^-^~

As for the year up thingy: Can we maybe have a 'school assignment' where our super has to write about her last year? It'd be in their POV but would also have a pretty good 'list' of important things they did during the year... just an idea...
