"But not all whom are chased run for the sake of fleeing danger...." Yue replied, sighing again. "So I may be encountering that one later.." he sighed, shaking his head, then turning to look towards the horizon as well..
more out of instinct, before lifting a paw, almost as if he were going to do something with it, before wincing and setting it back down. He -would- get out of that habit, darnit!
Whatever the other lion was searching for was lost on Yua, as he trotted back up onto his rock and snorted, his tail flickering a bit.
"Mmmm... maybe I do.... I dunno.." he frowned, muscles tensing a bit.
"But perhaps you're right on that one....." he agreed.

"Look on the bright side, if he's running he won't be pestering, right?"
Triv grinned up at the little lion, doing his best to comfort the strange little thing.
"Well, you don't have to come, I just loath the idea of wasting a meal, you know, might anger the spirit or something," Triv said, attempting to sound offhanded and distracted, and he kind of was. He was tracking, mentaly of course, the nearest scents.
"I think I'll start to head out," he said, looking back at Yua, "I'm pretty hungry. Would you like to come?"

With a complaining whine, Yua rose up, trotting after the other lion nonchalantly.
"Whatever." he grumbled, only now noting the other beings that were off the edge of vision of the pair, causing him to frown a bit. Those.... weren't that big. He could probably take one down if he was stubborn enough..
or so he hoped.
However..
Frowning a bit, he looked to Triv.
"Hey!.. What're those things?" he inquired, pointing with a paw..
He'd never seen such creatures on the boundries of his home-land, and it made him ever so curious.

Triv smoothly transitioned into hunter mode, ears trained back to hear the younger lion, but eyes and nose forward as he began to do what he could to mask his presence, large paws silently moving across the ground at a regular paced walk.
"Eh?" the lion turned his head for a moment, the entire swing of things broken off for a moment.
"I'd say they're the giraffe neck gazelle, with some other things mixed in..."
He shrugged at the cub, showing he neither knew for certain nor cared about what he was going to eat, even though getting into this mode was a bit of a hassle when full. He wasn’t' hungry, so he was having to direct an instinct that usually acted on it's own.
"Quiet for now though," he said, voice low as he continued forward, "we don't want to work harder then we have to, right?"

Yua, on the other hand, had no real hunting instincts, as he'd never hunted in his life... not that he was about to tell his to the other lion, however. Picking up his stride ever so slightly, he looked to Triv barely as he spoke again.
"Perhaps so.... but sometimes putting forth the extra effort pays out.."
Not that there was much else that one could get from hunting with extra effort..
except maybe more kill then nessecary.. which would serve no good, now would it?
Head lowering, he stalked along after Triv, the muscles in his back twitching in excitement. Perhaps watching, and maybe helping?.... maybe this would teach him. Then he wouldn't need anybody.....
and then he'd REALLY be able to show 'em all.

((*DIES* He's beautiful!))
Triv laughed quietly at the clever, or at least clever mouthed, young lion. Triv was used to that attitude, and in your face, self-contained outlook, but it never seemed to lose it's appeal to him. He had lived with it for as long as he could remember.
It was refreshing to be around again.
"Ah, now then," Triv said, barely audible, lowering himself down so that his belly nearly scraped the ground as he slinked closer. The beasts were within easy sight now, no more then a few hundered yards away. Much too far away to chase down yet though.
Might be hard to take one down on a full stomach...
Perhaps with a bit of help, though.
"Yua, can you do me a favor?" he whispered, a conspiratory glance at the other male.

((Isn't he? *dies again* ))
Watching Triv's actions as he lowered his body, Yua blinked a bit, before lowering his own body down to attempt to keep his own motions in 'mimic' with the elder lions, his tail flickering a bit as his eyes narrowed a bit, instinct kicking in, making him focus on the prey at hand... or paw. Whichever.
Slunking along the ground, the adolscent's stride became a little more of a stalk, then one whom was simply trying to sneak up on someone else, but more of one that hinted at darker and deeper attempts.
When the other lion spoke up to him, Yua's eyes barely glanced towards him for a moment of aknowledgement, before he licked his teeth, his attention going back to the beats ahead.
"....... What is being asked?"

"A bit of a distraction is all," Triv said, barely audible over the sounds of the distant beasts, their very breath seeming to echo to the near-silent lion.
"I am thinking," he said, studying the small herd of mostly giraffe necked gazelle mixed with a few other prey animals, noting the weak and the stragglers offhandedly, "That if you cut around to the left, then come out with a bit of a tactless run, you could head them in this direction...."
He looked around again, stepping a bit more forward reflexivly, twitching his tail to stray a fly from him.
"I'll cut off that young one near the edge, and try to get it. If that one doesn't follow the train then the old one nearer to the center. You can held try to keep it directed, yes?"

It didn't take too much of an instructory session before Yua was up and moving off around the small herd, his actions not judged in looking where he was stepping, leaving him to glance to prevent any short-stepped movements that could have compromised his 'mission'.
Crouching behind the low grasses he'd been instructed to make his 'starting' point, Yua looked over towards Triv, checking to see his state of 'readiness' on his part on this. Though, he did feel guilty his 'conspiring partner' was going to be doing more work then he was (as at the time, he -so- didn't know he was actually doing the more difficult job). His attention shifted back to his target again soon after this check, his eyes focusing on the two whom had been pointed out.
Eyes narrowing a bit, he watched the slight movements of the herd, before suddenly bursting out from his position...
what happened from there.. well... he lost track.

Well enough.
Triv knew that excitable young males were the best for this kind of job. Whatever they lacked in skills or patience they made up for with sheer gung-ho intensity.
Heck, it had always been his job when he was that age.
He watched the younger lion move into position and prepare to go he lowered himself again, basicaly appearing to lie on the ground, ears back and eyes forward, waiting for the herd to make it's move. When Yua darted out, they decided, probably wisely, that it was time to go. Perfect.
A small group veered off the main course, directed away from Triv, but the majority came right where they were supposed to. It takes alot of practice to lie there as hooves come pounding at you faster then you can really predict, but Triv was an old lion, and this was old stuff. There, the weak one near the outside had stayed there, lagging behind the rest of the herd just a bit. With a smooth, silent leap he took off, cutting of it's rout with the rest of the herd and chasing it back in the general direction of Yua.
It was always a good strategy when you had a small number of lions. THe only problem was that the prey could veer two seperate ways, and the lion who was close enough to grab it had to pick one.
A fifty fifty chance, if you will. Always a firm believer in the power of right (mostly because this animal would want to rejoin his herd) the older lion turned that direction quickly, and, as luck would have it, so did the prey. A leap, a clasping of the jaws and claws, one scream from the beast and it was down, great teeth clamped around it's wind pipe, a tired Triv'an waiting for it to die.
"Not bad Yua," he managed to mummble, barely understandable over the lump of neck meats in his mouth.

He'd found more fun in chasing the beasts about instead of focusing on actually -killing- one for the larger amount of time, thus.. when Triv's 'mumble' reached him, it took him off gaurd as a 'STOPWE'REDONE', making him screech to a halt, trip over his own paws, and crash-face-first into the ground.
He recovered quickly, however, as he was soon up to his feet, bounding over to the side of the other lion, sniffing the beast that had been downed curiously, tail flickering with the lasting effects of the adrenaline rush that had ended up giving him a slight 'high' buzz, in effect.
Nosing the tongue of the beast, which hung slightly out of it's mouth, Yua tilted his head to the side. So -this- was what creatures looked like when they first died... how.. interest-....
"... I do hope this things ghost doesn't stalk me for this... ;;" he commented, flopping onto his stomach to stare at the dead eyes of the creature, ears flattening back into his mane as he made a face.

Triv pulled away from the animal, stomach slightly turned by the taste of blood over his already full stomach. Ug, if he even touched the thing his stomachs contents were going to leave him.
"I find that highly unlikely. There is a balance, and they know it as well as we do," he said, shaking himself and backing away a little more to flop tiredly on the ground, no energy for any kind of exersize left in him.
"Anyway, I like my meat to sit awhile," he said, another little white lie, "So have your fill first. I'm just going to have a bit of a rest I think," he added, sounding a bit older then he would have liked, resting his head onto his paws and his eyes on the horizon.
Never knew when some pesky hyena or something would try to snatch your meal.

Yua looked up at Triv, considering these words for a minute, before sighing a bit. True...... mom used to tell me that all the time... 'There are no ghosts.. all creatures know their place, and have no reason to linger here in spirit, love.' Physically wincing at the memory, he crinkled his nose a bit.
Ears perking a bit as Triv spoke of his 'requirements' of animal-death, eyeing the movements of the older lion, before rising up and moving himself so his back was to him, almost as if embarassed by the consideration of someone watching him feed.
Sniffing the dead creature again, he winced a bit, before biting into it's neck where the initial death had been laid out, pressing a paw against the poor beasts jaw, and the other against it's shoulder, using them to keep it pinned down, before ripping away a good peice of neck muscle, chewing it consideringly, swallowing, then repeating the process again.
"......" Food sure tasted nice after having not eaten for a while...

Triv half-dozed off, unworried by anything and not motivated to move. He needed to digest the food he had eaten earlier still, and his body was making that ever so evident.
At least Yua would be able to put a bit of weight on though. Ah, but he really should be going too. This land didn't belong to him, and he wasn't exactly fond of wearing out his welcome.
With a bit of a sigh the older male stood, shaking himself and looking at Yua, a slight smile about the fact the other lion certainly wouldn't starve.
"I think I'll be going then."
