Dr Yuya Yeah, happy perfect dream world for girls. I forgot about that reason. When reality comes though, girls start to realize that those sorts of things rarely ever happen. Bad boys who just want to be bad are the same guys who beat their wives/make her work two jobs while they stay home and watch TV. Then they cry everynight thinking about how let down god old "Angel" and "Riley" who now live happy lives with their beatiful wife and kids. The bad boys are fun, though, at least for fantasy. I wouldn't actually go for a bad boy in real life, but when it's just on a show or in a book or something, then...I love them. I'd rather have an Angel (not a Riley, because I still have some hate for him) in real life. Not a Spike. Spike is good for fantasy.

Dr Yuya Saiyajin-Neko Not everyone is 'perfect'. I'm not trying to argue, just stating my opinion of what you said. I like both Spike's, i don't care what anyone says because we are all aloud to like what we want to. 3nodding I never said anything about perfect, or that anyone can't have an opinion. But the simple truth is Spikes a murderer and rapist who has a bunch of rabid fan-girls who don't see to care. You just don't like him, its plain to see. So he's bad, so was Angel. Live with it, and stop trying to make sence of it. It seems like you just hate Spike and like Angel and are trying to work out why everyone likes him. Well i gave you my awnser, he is so much more than the old broody Angel which dosen't appeal to me at all. I personaly wouldn't go with either in real life, but as a character i chose Spike and thats that. bloodlustvampire xd Yes an accent is good, unfortunatly to me Spike talks normaly since i'm also from the UK. Tamahome StarliteYour right, i just love Spike's sence of humor, thats the best part of him. All that you said is true about why most girls love him. Saiyajin-Neko Oh so its alright for Angel to do bad things as a Vamp, but not Spike hu? Oh and yes he did do bad things, so did Angelus(sp?) but aparantly for you its all good right? Wood triyed to kill Spike to avange his mother, i get that, but he still tryed to kill him. And that to me makes Spike justified to protect himself. So hes a little crude, but come on its who he is now. He HAS a personality unlike Angel whos always depressed about something. I don't hate Angel but hes way to broody for me. And lets recap as you say attempt rape is awfull, so its ok for Angelus to play with Buffy, kill Jenny and completly destroy everyones lives as he walks. Spike never did that, killed a slayer, wow, she was gonna kill him anyway. Just leave Spike alone, yes i like him, and no its not because he looks good. Its because he has a great character, and alot more going for him than Angel. Ok Angel fans, you can hurt me now. xd

Huntress the Vamp Slayer Well I like Spike for many reasons. 1. before he was a vampire he was a bumbling idiot who wrote bad poetry, but his hart was in the right place and it was sweet. 2. After he became a vampire, he tortured people with railroad spikes, how cool is that?? 3. Hes hot. 4. He's got a great voice (well James marsters does and he can play a guitar) 5. I like Spike because of how James Marsters portrays him. He said he was acting as if like somewhere deep inside Spike he liked Buffy all along. 6. and the leather coat, bad boy image helps a little. 7. He is Love's B****, and He's man enough to say it!!!!! No offense, but you're the type of Spike fan that this thread is really about. I mean, look at your reasons for liking Spike. I don't mind fans that give actual reasons, like "Spike was just a strong character in this episode and this season" or something with depth, but the more rabid fangirls that are all "God, he's so hot! I think he's peachy keen!" or some such thing are the ones that get on people's nerves. I personally dislike Spike. I dislike him for the same reasons I disliked the Potentials. It seemed like in the last seasons, it was more focused on Spike, which would've been well and good had other characters not been given supporting roles to their story. There were episodes where main character's had only one scene. They became extras. It was annoying that Spike, adn the potentials were given the lime light instead of my favorite characters. I did, however, like Spike on Angel. He played a good part on Angel, most episodes, and watching him turn to dust was a plus in itself.

Wrong, this doesn't mean you shouldn't like him either. Like him if you want, I never said I cared. The facts still stand though he was never sorry for all the horrible things he did that he couldn't control when he was evil Spike. because of this he was a b*****d until the end who deserved every form of death that could be recieved. Did Angel deserve it also? Most likely, yes. But the fact is though he belived that it was his mission to repent for what he did, and that alone makes him more honorable than Spike. Spike just wanted to stick around because he didn't want to die, or to get in Buffys pants.

Yes i'm a fan girl of spike. and i'd probably be speechless if i meet him. (well if i met any body from buffy/angel/firefly i would be) And he was a great character. i love what the writes did and how James portrayed him. and only one reason is because hes hot. i love his spikes humor. every thing adds to his hotness. Is that all you looked at my post, me saying he was hot? did you look at my other reasons? i mean nobody elseclaimed they were Love's slave.
and yes his accent does help, and he does have great face structure.
and i still love the fact he got his own musical number, so james could show off his immense talent. and him humming his trigger song was great. i'm kinda sad they didn't have spike sing more or play guitar.

No, I looked at how three of your reasons are physical, one is because torturing people to death with railroad spikes is like, so totaly cool, one of your reasons talks about his human form, which is valid, one talks about how James plays him, which is also valid, and the last one just repeats one of his quotes near verbatum, with an obnoxious amount of exclaimation points afterwards.

Spike loved Buffy, why can't anyone see that? It may not have been the same kind of love Angel had for Buffy, or any other that she has been with. But he loved her non the less. He did not just want to 'get in her pants' as you say (Maybe in the start he did). He was strong and helped her in the last season. He showed her that he was there, even when the others had kicked her out of her own home.
I'm not gonna stop defending him, because i believe that you are just looking at all the bad points and none of the good. Being closed minded and not looking a little deeper. Hes an a*****e, yes, but he also is a friend to them all in his own way. He also showed alot of strength in 'Angel', and fought along side of Angel and the gang, and not pissed off like he could have.
Look deeper into people, not everyone is like Glory and the First or Caleb. There are differences.

Personally I think this is being taken way too seriously.. Either you like Spike, or you don't, it's as simple as that. Fangirls have their reasons for liking them just as people like Dr. Yuya have their reasons for not. It's all, just like most things, a matter of opinion. People who don't find him the greatest character don't need to be bashing the girls that do (whatever their reasoning may be for liking him..) and vice versa. Just about every guy (or any character on Buffy for that matter) has their faults, why we're taking so much time picking apart one of them doesn't seem too logical to me..

As for why girls find him physically attractive that's hard to answer. Everyone likes different features in people. I happen to find deep cheekbones like those of James Marsters a turn on. Every person has the right to find whomever they please attractive.
Why do people enjoy Spike's personality? For a start he has some of the best lines on the show. His wit is biting and intelligent. On a less substanstial note, girls also love bad boys and Spike is undenably that.
To me, it's Spike's capacity to love despite the fact that he's souless that attracts me. Many people will argue this but I believe that his love for Dru and Buffy was true. He may not have expressed his love in healthy or normal ways but he loved nonetheless.
What turns me off from Angel is that I find him a very one demensional character, opposed to Spike who is very layered. Angel spends all his time repenting for his past sins and not living his life now. Spike appreciates life (or unlife) to it's fullest.

personally, i think spike's frickin' awesome! he's pretty nice to look at, and nicer to listen to (i love british people whee ). he's also such a good smartass, and, of course, there's the bad boy factor...

The way you word that has them both one-dimensional, it's just you like Spike's dimension better. Angel isn't one-dimensional. If you'll remember, his show survived four seasons without Spike. He does spend time repenting for his past sins, because he's-gasp-a good guy. He wants to make up for what he did, even though he knows he never can. He does have a sense of humor, even if it's not showed often. We all know he's broody, everyone knows he's broody, HE knows he's broody, but that's how he is. He'd risk his life to save anyone, not just those he cares about. Spike would risk his life to save someone if it meant Buffy would sleep with him. It's not that Angel's one-dimensional. He's just a good guy, so he's not as loved. He doesn't have the bad boy in him, or the accent, so he goes unnoticed. People instead chase after Angelus, who in reality would kill them in the most horrible way if given the chance. *deep breath* Wow, this guild is making me turn against Spike @_@ Not James Marsters, of course, but Spike. And I'm not really caring...How...odd... *used to be a die-hard Spike fan*
