.Skaified.
Less Than Jake has always sounded the least ska-ish to me. x] If that makes sense. Honestly I think like the most third wave ska example of a song would be, Road Rash by Mad Caddies. I'm not saying it's really good and you guys can disagree with me. But, I say it sounds alot like Ska would sound like. If all the other bands didn't add so much punk, or emo into theirs. But there is still alot of good Ska bands. x] Go Planet Smashers!! =D

Huh? confused

The only song I've heard by these rudies was "History of a Boring Town" nothing else... I noticed that it didn't have a big horn part in it.

I have only heared a little of there stuff, but I plan on seeing them live, and I hoped that they would still be some what ska. Some of there newer(I think) stuff sounds very...... not ska? And even there old stuff is not really all to skaish. Still, they are good, but I hate it when bands start out as ska start pulling away, even if I did not know them all that well.

I had never listened to their stuff, and then I decided to watch their new music video and I was like HOLY COW THEY'RE WEARING EYELINER RUN AWAY! The fact that they started putting EYELINER on just makes me think not ska. And their sound was so horrendously pop-punk I WANTED to throw up and never witness it again. Just being like that makes me wonder if they were EVER ska....NO HORNS! Ska band-horns-integrity=SCARYYYYY!

If you're worried about their new cd being their new sound don't worry. I went to thier show last monday and they said that they HATE the new cd. And they have one good song and they don't like it that much. A quote from them "If you downloaded the new cd you got ripped off"

i like some of Less Than Jake's music, but it never really struck me as ska. its more punk than anything, and their newest album goes far from ska. it sounds alot like hardcore punk. their name should be "Less Than Ska" instead of Less Than Jake

I don't think they ever had much ska in them to begin with, but thats just my opinion feel free to disagree.

i really thought they were less ska than most bands, they had really fast horn sections but alot of it was overpowered by the guitar and every cd they lose some horns, of course they also becoming more mainstream and that seems to be part of it

I've always felt that they've always been a very strong ska band, in the past few years with recent albums that has, however faded for a more pop-punk sound a dimmed focus on their horns and the upbeat. However, the reason some people assume they have overpowering guitar over their horn parts, which in my oppinion are actually very good if you actually hear them, is because Vinnie and the producers they work with do not understand how to properly mix their music, and thusly it's mixed like a normal band, and the guitar becomes the focus instead of a mix between teh guitar and bass with equal, and light drums with the horns not becoming over poweringly loud, but to the point that when they play you can hear them very well. But, that's just me.
