The desert?
Yeppers! And we're going.
"Eh?" The redheaded boy had hardly enough time to say that before he felt a strong tail wrap itself around his wrist, thrusting his hand into the air. He looked at the hybrid whose tail ahd done to offending thing. "But Thyra..."
No buts! I want to have fun. It'll toughen you up. The adolescent retaliated, staring at her bonded in the eyes. His green eyes... and his red hair. She thought he was an odd little specimen, if she was to tell the truth. However, for some odd reasons the cowardly Toran had stood out. And for that reason, he was hers.
((Crappy post, I know. But Tor in the desert will be fun for all. heart ))

With a sigh, and an involuntary look out the window, the old man grimaced.
"It is noon... you must go before the sun sets, or we may have fewer volunteers tomorrow than we do now..." he said quietly, though the hall was so still that all could hear.
:"A little short notice, eh?":
:"RAETHIN. Well, at least you have the decency to mindspeak rather than opening your rather overactive mouth...":
:"Watch what you say to me, or else the old guy gets a snide remark and you a little slice of humble pie.":
Coren heaved a deep, silent sigh of exasperation, then slowly stood from his chair.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" he said, forced sunshine in his voice.
The villagers were silent, but slowly rose one by and one and returned to their homes or businesses. Only the brave volunteers and Lane remained.
Coren looked them over with a sort of grim half-smile, wondering at their small numbers and age, to boot. Why, some seemed but girls and boys... but beggars could not be choosers. Instantly stepping up to the plate like the leader he was, he cleared his throat slightly, and nodded to all.
"Well, it seems we've got quite a job ahead of us," he began. "We'll be together for quite a while, for better or worse, so I might as well introduce myself. I am Coren Sanscarden, and this old gentleman's--" he gestured toward Lane, "grandson. This here is Raethin."
The flame wyrm examined the small assembly with a criticial eye, or squint, rather, of thinly veiled distaste. "Yes, yes, Coren, this isn't circle time," he said aloud, his voice deep and rasping.
"He's right for once. This isn't a matter of fun and games... but I'd like to know your names, anyway," he concluded, looking about the room.

Nodding slightly she looked to the door wondering. Where could medea and Iris be at a time like this. No matter, bowing her head slightly she removed the hood of her robe squinting a bit in the sun light. "I am Sage of the vampire clan north east to here" Gesturing to her earth wyrm and fire wyrm she speaks softly. "this is Lir......and Embyr " Sighing softly she bowed again. "my young one should be along with my other two Wyrm soon"
Slowly pressing open the door, a younge man enters moving over and joinging Sage. Standind sligtly taller than Sage he too was cloaked in a black hooded robe, his long brown hair hund braided down over his left shoulder. Smiling softly it was easy to tell he was not of the vampire clan. Gently setting down the young earth wyrm he had been carrying he opens his bag checking on the dark wyrm's egg. Nodding as Sage whispers to him he laughed softly straightening up." I am Iris of the vampire clan north east of here" gesturing to the earth wyrm in the same manner as Sage had he smiled "this is Medea"

((Just want to remind everybody that wyrms can only be bonded to one person, and a person can only be bonded to one wyrm. o_o There seems to be a little confusion about this...
They can still keep the company of one person and not be bonded, but yeah, that's kinda rare and takes building of trust and all that junk. That can be an excuse, I guess. XP))

Us? IN THE DESERT?! Do you want to know how long we'll last? Two days at most unless we find an oasis! Aran demanded, turning to glare at the hybrid laying beside him. Fear shone like a beacon behind his eyes, for both him and his sister though he'd hardly admit that part of it. However, Haku had insisted that they were going. And when Aran had thrust his hand up in the air like a kid who had been caught doing something wrong, Amai had followed suit. it'd figure she'd be there to look out for him. She had no place going!
The merman leaned back in his chair, green-blue eyes now filled with worry at the thought of how quickly he'd die without water. He'd just have to relax that half of him which belonged in water. They had to go before he could soak himself too! "I'm Aran." He said, standing slowly and casting a glance at Haku who stood as well, careful not to knock anything over.
"I'm Amai," answered his sister from across the room, using Atalanta as a support for standing. It was eery for a moment as the younger of the two glared at her, who only smiled. Two days max... That was it. Then all his pain would be over. Haku nudged him angrily, as if to say that he wasn't going to die. He made a pitiful whining sound as if to say that wasn't what he wanted to hear.

Coren smiled as cheerfully as one could in the circumstances, nodding to each as they spoke their names. Raethin, however, remained aloof, resting his head between his claws, eyes but thin slits.
"Well... we're going to need supplies, first of all," said Coren, thinking aloud as the series of introductions seemed to wrap up. "Water. Lots and lots of water. And food, weapons..."
"Don't forget an extra pair of socks," put in Raethin.
"... Thank you, Raethin, I''m sure we won't forget our wool outerware."
"A good thing, too. Last thing you need in the desert is to be caught without socks."
"In any case," said Coren, loud enough to blot out whatever else his dragon thought necessary, "Supplies means baggage, and baggage means weight. If your dragon is of age and proper size, they can probably manage to haul whatever you need, but even dragons tire. That's why we must stop by Talazar on our way. It's the the closest city on our route, and their trading post, you all know, is one of the largest in Ranothor. We can buy horses and materials there, as our own marketplace is... sadly out of commision, should I say...
In any case, go pack what you have at the present. We'll meet at the clocktower, townsquare, at half past noon. That will give us all some fifteen minutes."

Fifteen minutes?! "We're packed already. We just have to go pick up our stuff," Aran looked at Amai, twitching. Why'd she have to know everything? he moved quietly out the door, followed by Haku.
She gets on your nerves, doesn't she? Haku asked brightly, not speaking out loud. Atalanta would be not far behind him. this would be a challenge for all of them, all four of them, more so than for the others.
Aran ignored the question, walking slowly. However, Haku wasn't standing still much longer than need be. he would tire out many times, he was sure, but he was too excited to stay still long. Aran raised an eyebrow at the hybrid, who only responded by rushing by him. Aran's hand shot out, grabbing onto the mane running down the spine. He was swung up on Haku's back, feeling the wind whistle by his ears. Might as well get there faster than later.
He ran inside the small building, grabbing what few clothes he had and thrusting them into a sack. Sure enough, there was quite a bit of supplies waiting that Amai had somehow accumulated. There was an special abundance of fish, he noticed, prying through the bags quickly.
"You and Haku could stop showing off. You'll need that energy later." A voice from behidn him said. He turned to look at Amai, glaring harshly. She only shrugged, swinging up a few packs. "C'mon, Ata." She said, fastening at least half of their stuff to the water Wyrm.
Aran growled, watching her leave. Why was she pegging him with the non important stuff? This wouldn't even be all their supplies. They would have to buy more at the marketplace in Talazar. He fastened the rest of their stuff to Haku. "Something tells me we will be sicks of fish in the desert before this is over."
"Sand everywhere. How are we going to stand it?" Haku asked aloud as Aran shut the door behind him. As they began to walk towards the main center, Haku looked down at the ground, seeing a black rose petals. He growled ferally, but before he could stomp on the petals, he felt Aran hoisting himself up on his back.
"Come on. One more run before we do anything important." Haku took off at full blast at Aran's request, stopping only when he saw Amai there with Ata at the town sqaure, chatting away with a boy with red hair, whos Wyrm was hardly loaded down with anything at all. Apparently the two...
Toran and Thyra, Haku supplied.
...didn't have an older sister looking out for them.

Ice sighed "A desert? Why a desert?" she mumbled irritated she hated the desert she was an ice dragon. But Ice guessed it would be the best place for her Wyrms to be as one was fire and the other a hybrid of desert elements. Ice raised her hand "We will go." she called to the old man fom her seat. Ice flexed her blue draconic wings lazily.
Zar nodded to Ice, Being in a desert would be nice. It would warm his body insted of this moderate climate. Zar looked up to a voice he knew "Thyra!" he yelled uncoiling and sitting up looking off toward his sister
Mithrana nodded at Ice''s desion... though she would have preffered a Volcanic Range She would be content in a desert. Mithrana heard the other ask for names "I am Mithrana," she said to the one who asked "She is my Chosen" Mithrana said motioning toward Ice.
"I am Ice as Mithrana has stated." Ice said looking toward the one''s who called and asked for names. Her wing''s where still closed and she was fliking her tail lazily. "That is Zar," He motioned to the hybrid who was preocupied and looking toward his sister. "He is my friend."

Turning she headed out the door. Flicking her finger up and out as a signal to Iris. Moving slowly along the streets she heads back toward the waterfront. Gently petting Embyr as she walked along, looking from Embyr to Lir she sighed. Stepping out closer to their things she turns to Look for Iris. Sighing as she just notices his absence. Looking down to Medea who is now carrying the dark egg in a small bag. She kneels down gently petting the young wyrns head. "hopely he'll be back soon I think he went to get riding bags"

Letting out a breath and scratching the back of his head, Coren turned slowly to his bonded.
:"Raethin, where did we put the bags...?":
:"Where did you put the bags? A fine question!":
:"They were just here. Under the table. I could've sworn...":
:"You don't swear. When that moronic sea-man dropped a barrel of hard-tack on your foot all you could say was 'oy'. Fine sailor you'd make, with that sort of mouth...":
:"... You've had something to do with them, haven't you?":
:"Who? Me? Why, the nerve!":
:"RAETHIN. This is not a game. Why can you never be serious? There are lives at stake here, and if you don't show me where you took our supplies, yours will be among them.":
:"Fine, fine, fine. You're lucky you're not the one who has to carry all that, though...":
* * *
It was just half-past when Coren had finally managed to strap the packs to the dragon's back, after many a snide remark on Raethin's part. The town-square was empty, save the volunteers who had remembered the rendez-vous. Coren smiled wistfully, remembering days not so long ago when the streets were full of life. Could it have just been the week before? Time crawls when times are hard.

Slowy appearing behind Sage,he bows slightly. Handing her the to rather large riding bags. Then stepping away from her, he motioned for the wyrm to cover the small slits that would be their ears. Gulping softly he closed his eyes covering his ears.
Sage gently placed the bags on the ground and looked towards the mountains. Taking a deep unneeded breath, she began to whistle a long ear shattering whisper burst long and hard from her lips reaching into the mountains. As soon as she had stopped whistling she motioned to Iris and the wyrm with a telepathic call. Leading forth, she giggled as the sound of thunder rolled off the forest. Running quickly through the back alleys once again cover completely from the day light. Making her way to the edge of town she waited.
