Vismund I just don't want to be generalized in that way. You can say I'm lazy (which is true), you can say all I eat is burritoes or some s**t like that, and you can say I drive a truck, but damnit, don't call me Mexican when I'm Puerto Rican. ;3; Putretfomg emo lolz :9 Oh. I'm sorry. xD To be blunt, Vis man, I only remember reading "Mexican"... ... not hispanic. But if I reread it, I'll bet 50$ it was hispanic. Mind automatically translates here. High school = 14% hispanic, 99% of that being Mexican. And when most people say Hispanic around here, they mean Mexican... And when you're not Mexican, they call you Puetro Rican, Cuban, etc... No offense. =O Just how things are done here. ADRIAN, 3rd? largest mass of hispanic mexicans, in America. Or something like that. 2nd? I don't remember. I just know East LA has the highest amount in the U.S. xD

Aratariel Or because for the most part they're white, and not one of the groups that has historically been opressed by white people. Jews? Christians? Irish? Especially the last one. Irish got oppressed as ******** when they came to America. They were our new slave labor. "I'm not Mexican. They're from Mexico. I'm Puerto Rican, I'm from New York"

And the irony, Setz, is that the Irish oppressed the new immigrants a couple generations later. =) If I remember my history right. =O

Wolffy000 All I can think of is that certain groups of people are just more vocal about it in general than others. Obviously we hear a lot about racism towards black people a lot more than others, so it's thought about more. I think somebody hit the nail on the head. Certain groups just won't let you forget that they've been "opressed." ******** the fact that genocide has been attempted against damned near every race at some point in time. I'm of Irish decent and I don't go around boo-hooing about how the Brits tried to wipe "my people out." But I can't believe the number of black people who can't seem to get over slavery or Jewish people who still have a chip on their shoulder over the Holocaust even though they never had to deal wit it personally. Hell, a lot of these people have never had to deal with anymore prejudice than anyone else living in a multiracial society, but they think "their" past gives them the right to cry foul. I get so damned sick of people whining about things that happened before their lifetime. You weren't even there. Get the ******** over it. Agh. Even MTV has succumbed to it. Everytime I've turned it on in the background when I'm busy in my room lately, they have a godamned documentary on the Holocasut. ON MTV! SHUT THE ******** UP AND PLAY SOME MUSIC! I'd even be happy with one of your stupid dating shows. But not the Holocaust! Maybe I'm just overly sensitive right now after putting up with a semester of a b***h of an English teacher. She's of Polish descent and damned near every book we've read is about WWII because she "identifies" with them. Even though she's never lived in Poland. Or during the Holocaust. Argh.

White people got robbed when it came to racial slurs. Honky? Cracker? Even those of us who are rednecked or white trash aren't offended by being called it.
The reason is obvious. We've never been subjugated to the same degree as others. I'm of Irish descent and call myself a mic. (Which by the way is the lamest slur to be offended by. xp )

You know, thinking about it. I don't mind having some ignorant ******** call me whatever. I mean, yeah, Jap, n**, what have you. It's definately insulting, but what really pisses me off is when they call me by some OTHER racial slur.
That pisses me off more than being called any kind of racial slur in the first place. If you're going to be an ignorant ******** at least get it right.

Because all black demand to be treated differently, because of things that happened to people that are LOOSELY related to them.
Hell, I know that if my skin was darker, I would milk that s**t for all it was ******** worth.
I tried telling my mom that spics and Hispanic people were different. Like. Spics are the stupid ones that smoke pot on their porches, whistle at the girls, talk about people in Spanish and then act innocent when they get caught, sell drugs, are in gangs, etc.etc. Hispanic people are just normal people with good jobs and families, trying to make ends meet or take care of their family.
But nooooooo.

I think some people need to grow a sense of humor. I mean, it's practically impossible to joke about some religions, some nationalities or color. An editorialist had been criticisized by the Muslim community because he he gave an acerb critic to their religion. However, that very same critic did showered the Roman Catholic religion with the very same vitriolic words and nobody complained.
Too many people sure take things personnally. stare

Look at a white person in the US, and may as well just assume they're a WASP.

We complain about the Mexican garderner and drink tea from teacups and little saucer and scoff at the blacks. We're both black. It's fun.

Someone needs to come up with some sort of derogatory term for the entire human race, because then I could just refer to anyone by it and not have the whole stupid "race" issue come up.
