So here's a conversation excerpt in a car ride between me, my mom, and my brother. My brother was cranky, so I was trying to be random to cheer him up.
Me-"I can picture an army now. ELIMINATE WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE! NIGGERNIGGERNIGGERNIGGER!!!"
Brother- *cracking up*
Mother- I really don't appreciate that kind of talk
Me- Why not?
Mother- Because it's racist and I raised you better than that.
Me- So what about Canadians?
Mother- What ABOUT them?
Me- Why can you make fun of them but I can't say ****** or spick?
Mother- Well...because...
Me- Or how about us Italians? Or the Irish? Are you telling me it's okay to be racist to only certain types of people?
So I know this issue has been raised before in other places around GD. Now it's here.
Why the exceptions?

What I don't understand is why it's okay for them to call each other that word, but then when a white person says it it's wrong. I mean, what? I don't know how that word evolved into like a word for them to use between each other when it's still also a slur when used by other people. gonk

Yeah, I don't know. It's weird, it seems taboo to be racist towards certain people but not others. Black people and Jewish people come to mind. It's not that I don't understand or sympathise at all, but I just get the feeling if someone got insulted for being Polish or German for example it would be taken with much less severity.
All I can think of is that certain groups of people are just more vocal about it in general than others. Obviously we hear a lot about racism towards black people a lot more than others, so it's thought about more.
I don't know, racism and political correctness in general bother me. After seeing both exteremes of each side, it's really quite disturbing.

Setzer I can understand that to a degree. I think that's on par with the "I can call my brother a ********, but you can't." Oh. I never had siblings, but I actually can kind of understand that now that you mention it, yeah. But still, it's weird in my mind. But then again, anything foreign is usually weird, so. I think part of the reason is the 'sensitivity' of how the white people wronged them with slavery and all that s**t for so many years and this is part of the 'equal' stuff where we shouldn't do anything more to 'wrong' them now .. and that the other races weren't ever really wronged by us (okay we won't get into it, shhh), or at least not to the degree that african americans were, that it's just kind of .. different? I don't understand it completely, but that's just my guess.

I honestly believe this double-standard s**t is annoying. :/ I don't get it, and I never will.
Their word? THEIR ******** WORD? ****** is the butchered form of 'negro', a hispanic word; MY WORD. I don't get how they can take one of my words and turn it into slander, get away with it, then turn around and try to kill any person who isn't black that utters it. -_- I mean come the ******** on now, I don't go and get pissed when someone says s**c, I just laugh and shrug it off. You don't see white people jumping a black person (mainly because black people fight in groups) for saying cracker.
And there's another thing I don't get. Why do black people only start s**t in groups? Have you ever noticed that? Get one black person by themself, and you'll see they're all quiet and s**t. Get them in a group, and they're violent, rowdy, and basically a bunch of assholes. Of course, I live in Florida. (:

It should be all or nothing, either you can call everyone by derogatory names or you can't. However, making comments about Polacks or Canadians or whatever is more acceptable maybe because it's based on their nationality and not their color? Or because for the most part they're white, and not one of the groups that has historically been opressed by white people.
Just a thought.

Racism and political correctness bother me.
There is no right way to go about it.
I have friends on both extreams. One, who thinks ****** is the dirtiest word you could possibly say, the other who says it for fun. Both are as white as could be... O:
I agree with neither.
I don't like being restricted on what I can and cannot say because it might offend someone. Doesn't stop me from saying abortion soup on jesus bread.. but not being able to say ****** is like.. not fair?
Do any of you guys have problems with Chaldean gangs in your town?

thats the biggest gang problem 'round these parts. More fights start over them than some fat white kid saying ***** infront of two black girls.. O_O
