He shook his head in a bit of discontent at her comment of humans as he spoke up, "I don't know, humans are strange creatues. Not only do they walk on two legs but they depend on us for most things, you think that would be enough to earn a little respect from them. As for themselves and living in peace, I suppose it's just they're instinct to be insecure with each other. Whatever the reason, they ain't right", was his point of view on the whole thing.

Charna nodded slightly in agreement. "But... These humans here. They seem... you know, peaceful. But then, I used to live with peaceful people too. Its the violent ones that cause all the damage."

Balius took a deep breath, he didn't want to think about something like that scene unfolding here. "I've only been here a few weeks at best, but from what I've seen these people are peaceful with each other; I don't think we'll have anything to worry about. Either way I'll keep that in mind", it was a disturbing thought but the dun stallion wasn't about to quit and giveup on Charna and her past. If anyone needed a friend, it was the mare he was standing in front of.

"I thought as much. But it was good to hear it from someone else." Charna said, bobbing her head dispiritedly. Life was so complicated, and when things did turn simpler, everything would come crashing down, because simple meant bad. She'd learned as much in her years in existence. And she'd learn, at least, that when life was complicated, you could get a little bit of happiness and sleep better at night.

The dun stallion was trying his best to keep spirits up, though that was hard now with that vivid scene painted in his head. Looking out across the sands he nickered to nothing, but it was apparent the sun was going down. "What do you say, still want to join me for that walk?" he hoped a change of subject would help her with her mood.

Charna nodded. "For a run, more like." She said with a sigh. But then, maybe a calming walk would do more good that blowing off energy. No matter what she did today, there'd be training tomorrow. And training was good fun. She hated to miss it. "But the sun's startin' to go down. We can't go too far. Raiders..."

He nodded his head understandingly when she mentioned raiders, and turned himself around by tossing his head into the air and tucking his heels in, nearly pivoting but in a slower movement. When he was facing the other way he allowed his front hooves to stretch out again until he was going into a longer stride and able to walk. It was a little something he had picked up while carring the Misses around back in the states, she perfered the smooth and easy over a jerk of persision and speed. "We won't go far, I promise", he told her, expecting Charna to follow him.

Charna smiled and trotted up after him, eager to get rid of these old memories. "Cool move." She said, hoping to change the subject off of humans. "Did you learn that back where you came from?" She asked. She remembered faintly, seeing her master ride another horse, a little smaller than herself, who could do figure eights and flying lead changes, which she'd assumed was what he'd picked up in the States.

For the first time he allowed pride to show in those emerald eyes when she mention his little stunt move he did back there. He wasn't much of a show off, but when he did he liked to hear the compliments. "Yes'sum, and many other things I might add. Well, okay that might be pushing it, I learned a few things, mostly pivots, rollback turns, and a few jerky motions here and there", he explained, gladly speaking up about them.

"Oh. Well, let's see." Charna said with a grin. Coming where she'd come from, she'd never learned any cool pivots or moves of any kind. Which she did regret. It seemed rather cool to be doing little hopskips and pivoting about with ease.

A very evident gleam came into the older stallion's eyes as he perked his ears in delight, it's been so long since he's had an 'audience' so to speak that this was definatly a treat for him. "Better yet, how about I try to teach ya some of these moves to do for yourself?" he inquired, side stepping in an almost parallel way so that his front legs crossed over each other and his head dipped down to his knees. Already he was starting to show off, but he stopped to wait for her answer.

"Look at me, do I look like I'm about to say no?" Charna grinned, forgetting the past for the moment. She watched his sidestep curiously. That was strange. It had never occured to her that there should be any horse walking so strangely.

Now this was exciting to the little dun stallion and he tossed his head up to whicker at nothing. "Okay, first I'll teach ya the basic pivot. I'll do it first, slowly, and you try to follow afterwords. If there's something you need to do differently I'll let ya know", he told her. Scooting a little farther away from her Balius took in a deep breath to calm his nerves, standing queitly. "The basic function of a pivot is to turn in the opposite direction using as little space and time as possible", he explained to Charna. He remembered he had to this slowly so he couldn't really prove the whole point of the pivot, but still it was easier to follow this way. Though, the pivot itself would not allow for him to be to slow, a horse could lose his balence easily trying to slow something like this down. Tossing his head into the sky balius slightly lifted off his forelegs, trying to be as slow as possibly he found it was already proving difficult. Not being up like that for much longer then a second he jerked his head to the side and threw his bodies weight with it, making sure to nearly sit back on his haunches he kept his hind legs at the center of his weight. In the sands his hooves nearly did all the work for him, for it was easily to slide in sand then it was in grass or dirt. With his neck being bent and downward and forelegs extending to the side and slightly stretched he reached for the ground. Because his hind legs were already the center of his weight they were tucked under his belly when all four hooves were on the ground once again in the opposite direction. Using the position of his legs he used their power to push him into a lunge, the force was great and he was able to plow into a run with already enough momentum to carry him to a high speed. After a few strides though he slowed to a canter and turned back around to lope towards Charna once again, where he stood in front of her. "That was a pivot in slow motion, they're usually alot faster then that. I want you try it at a comfortable speed for you, slower is a lot harder then faster", he told her with a bob of his head.

Charna watched him carefully. She could see that his weight was balance in his hind legs. She stepped forward, trying to copy what Balius had just done. But not having as much experience working in an arena like Shakil did, she had little idea of what it was to have her neck bent downward. After all, she was a racer. And when she ran, she stretched out as much as she could for more speed. There was no such thing has bending on a racetrack.

Balius kept his emerald eyes on her, keeping careful note of the movements, and decided to explain the movements while she tried it. "The purpose of tossing your head up is to lift off you front legs, which makes it easier to wheel with your wheels. Though in order to get that kind of movement, you gotta throw your weight to one side. That's where you need to bend your neck, it'll direct you're body's direction", he spoke.
