Izzy Vicious Izzy Vicious You're all wrong. No matter what you think, you'll never know what punk is.......Never. No one knows. Don't try to define punk because your definition will always be wrong. Ooo. Looks like I annoyed people with that post. Honestly. Anything punk related pisses people off. Yes, and this is why I listen to punk and talk about punk. It's simply because I enjoy being pissed off all the time. That insight was lucid to epiphanous extremes. It wouldn't have anything to do with some self-righteous holier-than-thou type descending from their mighty crag of omniscience to strike down anyone else's concept of what punk happens to constitute. The clarity of the situation is mind boggling.

im making a ******** stand. punx are pussies. we have all these kids in my school, with mohawks, and doc martens, and bondage pants, and lower class brats shirt. they ******** suck. they arent real punx. they sit in their ******** house all day. never go to a show. never do s**t. thats what almost every ******** punk does. punx no longer present a threat to society. society no longer looks down on kids who are into punk. they just see it as a phase they will grow out of. i dont plan on growing out of this anytime soon. so im making a ******** stand. im gonna do my ******** best to make punk, punk again. im gonna wreck s**t, im gonna yell, im gonna fight, im gonna piss people off, im gonna have a hell of a lot of fun, and im gonna try to help out my local scene. no more of this s**t where people say they are into punk and really arent. when im done people are gonna hate punx around here, im taking punk back to the real punx. up the punx.

Punk is an army of the brave, the elite, and the open minded.
Punk is fighting for freedom.
Punk is righting wrongs.
Punk is a shock to the close minded.
Punk is elite, and punk is powerfull.
Punk brings us together for our cause.
Punk is the kid who bums money outside of the record store simply because he wants a Ramones album.
Punk is the kids who stand united in front of the white house screaming at the top of his lungs hoping that the president will hear his crys and end the god damned war.
Punk is me and my friend sitting outside of 7-11 eating ho hos we barley had enough money for because its better then being yelled at at home.
Punk is my friend Chad shaving his head because everybody told him to keep it long.
Punk is many things. Punk is a rebellion. Punk is a cause.

I don't think I could describe it any better than you guys : )
But as for what idrinkmilk said, I think all of that is due to the total lack of unity in the scene nowadays. Kids are too into keeping up their more punk than thou attitude, mainly because of the fear of even further commercialization, but the thing is... you can't have any sort ol major social revolution with just a small handful of people. You have to let more people in and show them what it's all about-- and until you can do that, there will always be ignorance and nothing will ever get accomplished.
I am really exhausted right now and probably typed this about five times over already, but I hope some of that makes sense. I'm pretty sure I totally failed at expressing what I was trying to say though, so don't take it too seriously. xd

Okay, I am about to rant, flame, and generally offend. So if anyone has a problem with it, too bad. So Much Heart, your post was the most idiotic answer possible. You didn't even touch the question, yet managed to twist it into something totally unlike how it started. So Much Heart you're trying to define a music and culteral movement by the few bands you listen too punk is technically a socity This pretty much contradicts everything else you said, because of a number of reasons. 1. If it is a movement, all movements had some unifying force. Every rebellion had the common cause of either freedom or overthrowing what they believed a corrupt authority. 2. If it's a society, it still needs some unifying force, or there would be nothing to tie it together, nothing that would justify calling it a society, nothing that would even justify putting them all in a genre any more specific than "music". So Much Heart some are hardcore some are into what is called 77 some are into Oi! it also branches out you can;t really define a person by teh style of music they listen to That's funny, 'cause I've seen a whole lot of stereotyping, even within this guild. i.e. emos. I like a lot of emo, yet everything I've heard about emo from any post in this guild I've read so far classifies emos as, basically, wannabe, poser goth punks. So Much Heart i'm an a*****e who loves to offend and drink and smoke If you want to offend, and can't control yourself, you're gonna end up starting a flame war, and get yourself and possibly others banned. So Much Heart What you;re actually asking is a stright up openended queastion with about a million answers. That's kind of why I asked it. So Much Heart my advice stop trying to define punk as an image and start listening to it. Become your own person, stop living by some kind of mysterious code you'll neve ******** figure out. I don't try to live by some mysterious ******** code. I simply live by my own sense of right and wrong, ******** what anyone else thinks. The only thing that governs my behavior is my adherence to my personal sense of honor, which is modeled closely after the ancient concept of chivalry. So Much Heart punk isn't what you want it to be, punk is a style of music. A bands belifes and ideals have nothing to do with the genra of music they happent o fall under. Emo. Moonlight Penguin My definition of punk is basically be who you want to be without the thoughts of society interferring. A rebel with a cause maybe... who knows. I'm at work right now and I don't know what to say. Well said. Exactly my thoughts. Or damn close anyway.
