True enough... I suppose it's because those places are sort of designed around the concept of public sharing, and this site is more of a place to spam about how much you love the Elrich brothers. I agree lures are important! But even with lures we haven't really had success with participation in this guild in the past. Nobody even sees the lures, we'd probably have to PM every member with a link sweatdrop

Yeah, Shi is right. I am not sure that even if we do PM Every single member it may not generate a good enough response, who knows... rolleyes And the lures don't always work. It depends on guild activity I think...
So, isn't anyone gonna comment on my poem? And here I was looking forward to that! rolleyes

Depends on the lure, if you ask me.
"YOU WON, here, have a... single token."
Anyway. I didn't comment because it was ... well. Hm. Just "ok" I'd say... but I didn't wanna look like a jerk in saying so. neutral

Gee I... was hoping for something along the lines of: What a lame poem! or whatever. I only did that cuz I couldn't think of anything else and I wanted to create a funny poem, sort of... sweatdrop And you couldn't have looked like a jerk to me. After all, I wasn't submitting a serious poem anyway. mrgreen
But yer right. What's the use of a lure if it's gonna be lame?

Eh... This thread still exists? It got lost in a soup of threads and I eventually forgot it ever existed. No one sent any entries, so I took it no one was interested. I wasn't expecting any emo poetry, just some creativity adapting poetry to Castlevania. Perhaps lyrics to Castlevania music, comical poetry about playing Castlevania or situations or plots in the game, pretending to be a character from Castlevania reciting the poem, anything you may come up with.
If the problem is paying up in advance, I suggest a minor tweak to the rules. Entry fee to be payed once all submissions are in. Or may you suggest not paying a fee, and leaving the prize up to any donor which will trade the donation once the entries are displayed, before voting. Or making this thread open poetry, without contest; let any donors donate their stuff directly to anyone they want.
Any suggestions?

That's ok Lair! I also forget about things from time to time.
I don't really have any suggestions right now but I do like yer idea about donors and whatnot. I could probably help out with that as I have about 1k to spare. mrgreen
If anyone has any real suggestions, they're welcome to post. 3nodding

How many people would enter, though? I'd be willing... and what would the fee be?

I believe it was all explained here my good buddy. Here, let me quote Lair for you: Lair Argyra Tonight we will be holding a Castlevania-inspired poetry contest, in which our contestants will show us their poetic skills and compete for a grand prize. However, my warning to those who are courageous enough to participate: The entry fee is of 100 gold per participant. The poem must be Castlevania related. Poems will be submitted to me through mail, along with the entry fee, and later posted by me when all entries are in. A winner will be chosen through votes. The one with highest count of votes by the end of the voting period will receive the grand prize, which will consist of the sum of all entry fees. That's right, I will keep nothing. Anyone who wishes to donate gold, items, or art is welcome to do so. Donations will be added to the grand prize. Please, be seated and enjoy the music, wine, coffee, and other appetizers while our contestants get ready. This should be especially helpful for those who come in late. BTW, Lair did mention that anyone could actually donate more as a prize. I'm not much of a poetry kind of guy so I'd be willing to donate a prize. 3nodding

As many people who enter. Everyone in the guild is invited to join; there's no limit. I expect at least 5 participants. I added a poll to decide where to gather the grand prize from, or to eliminate it. Please vote!

It would help a bit more if people interested in participating posted their interest in doing so. That way, we could estimate an accurate count of how many people will participate.

I know. It's too bad the guild is not very active to begin with. It could help to PM the active members though... I don't offer to do that cuz I don't have the time. sweatdrop

It would definitely help if more people checked here more often. I haven't been to this sub-topic in a month's time. I guess I would like to submit a poem, and all your ideas on entry fee, donations, grand prize, etc. I have no comment on. I just need some time to finish school this semester and then come up with a poem while fixing my websites and finishing my various fanfictions. Gosh I'm busy.

Perhaps I should move it to the main forum, for it to be noticed? It is Castlevania related after all.

Wouldn't it be better in the "Fan" territory?
