The breeze did nothing to cool the heat down. Nagisa slumped foward to his knees. His breath came in shallow, hot gasps. "Vere!" he sobbed, "Vere! Vere STOP!" This was too much like the last time the light wyrm used this spell. It had gone out of control and almost killed them both. Vere's eyes shot open. He bowed his head. "Nagisa?" he sighed falling to the earth, his power maxed out. Nagisa crawled to the wyrms side. "I was...trying...to save you," Vere moaned. Nagisa pulled the horned head into his lap. "I'm sorry," he cried, "It was my fault. This is my fault. Vere!"

The distraction of the adult falling allowed Alatariel to get next to Rana. She ran her hands over the heated hide, removing the arrow as quickly as possible. "Rana, calm down." She ordered sternly, her hand sealing the opening in the thick hide.
Stupid... Light... Rana glared at Vere, struggling slightly to keep herself under control. If she thought she could curse him without harming herself, she would have done it. But alas, she tread a dangerous line near her breaking limit.

Vere passed out cold. Nagisa stroaked the mighty head still sobbing quietly to himself. "I'm sorry," he groaned this time to the victum pair, "If I hadn't of accidently let that arrow go, this wouldn't have happened. This may sound selfish, but will you please find it in your heart to help me?"

"Why should we? Thanks to that creature's sense of 'justice', Rana could be dead." She said, kneeling down next to the hatchling. You okay? Alatariel asked privately, glancing to see if anything else appeared to be wrong.
As good as I can be, I suppose. Is he down? Rana asked, coming down away from that spot near combustion.
I don't think so. I think he just bit off a little more than he could chew.
Damn.

Nagisa bent his head over Vere, tears running down his face. "Vere," he wispered to his bonded, "You can't die on me. Not yet." He didn't know why the tears wouldn't stop. Vere's breathing was shallow and his body was still overheated. Nagisa drew a spell in the dirt and let a tear fall on it. Frost began to cover Vere's horns.

Alatariel caught sight of the other human crying, rolling her eyes slightly. It wasn't like the wyrm had died. She took her hand away from Rana's wound, still unhappy about how it still leaked a bit of blood. She stood back up, looking down at the red hybrid.
Rana watched the adult wyrm being taken care of by his bond. Ancient magic isn't a toy. Maybe you learned a lesson. She commented, her tail dusting off her back where some ash had clung.

Nagisa drew another rune in the earth. He let a tear drop onto it and a ball of light blue energy formed above the marking. Nagisa took it into his hands and carried it to Rana. He placed it on her wound and the blue color filled and jammed the arrow wound. "Something Vere taught me to use. I'm always getting hurt, one way or another," the boy sniffed, "The light will dissappear when it stops bleeding." He helplessly looked into the young wyrm's eyes hoping for some sympathy.

Rana was baffled at the gesture of kindness, and immediatly distrusted it. She was caught by his eyes, and genuinely wondered how any creature could be so... so... stupid! It would have stopped on its own. She snapped, stepping slightly away. It was... different. Quit looking at me like that!

Nagisa turned his eyes shamefully away. "As you wish," he sighed. His eyes did that. They glowed with his magic power. His tears held his magic, not his blood. Vere found him as a young orphan and took him in a long time ago. The dragon had seen his own aura reflected in Nagisa's maroon eyes. He went back to trying to help Vere in any way he could, but he was a novice to magic and only held a few spells in his arsenal.

Her tan feet shifted uncomfortably, the hatchling looking up at her bonded. Her tail flicked as she glanced up at her bond, aware that the black eyes were still flashing angrily. Rana's eyes moved to the injured wyrm and his bond, the spikes on her back rising slightly with the flames.
Alatariel watched Nagisa, her heart softening just barely. Something inside her wanted to help just a tiny bit, but that small candle of light was stifled by the darkness of her mind. "Can you heal him?" She asked in a mild voice, glancing at Vere. "You could be able to replace the power he just losts with some of your own." The comment hung in the air. Giving advice didn't go against her moral creed.

Nagisa gently pulled Vere's fanged maw open and let a hot tear trickle inside. Vere twitched violently. He began to growl. Nagisa pulled back, trembling. "Vere?" he asked, uncertian.

Rana took a step back when the older wyrm growled, wincing slightly. If he was still angry, she was in bad trouble. Her mind steadily opened, hoping her sister or mother was in the near vicinity, just to be safe. Unable to reach anything in this weakened state made her unhappy, but she dealt with it.

Sapphire eyes opened as Vere stirred awake. "I feel like crap," he growled. Nagisa gave a strangled cry and threw himself onto Vere's golden body.

Rana watched the two with narrowed and suspicious eyes. The blood red hatching limped to Alatariel, nudging her bonded's hand. Alatariel glanced down briefly before turning her eyes back to the two boys.
Think they'll be okay?
How the hell should I know? Or care?
Brilliant little creature for making allies, Rana.
I want nothing to do with a light wyrm. She responded, circling slowly around the two with the limp still noticible. Pausing and looking at them, she soon shook her head. "His power will come back soon. Give him time." She growled slightly.
