The dead forest was silent in this mid-afternoon, the charred remains of a great home the only remainder of what used to be. Wandering among the blackened landscape was a single wyrm and human, the former of which was silent, her eyes scanning the smoking ghost of a forest. The mud brown eyes finally stopped looking around, the hatchling turning to look up at her bonded. Natural causes did this. A ring of disappointment sounded in her thoughts.
Alatariel looked down at the ground, her tan legs finally tired of walking. A spark lit up in her black eyes, the ash on the ground leaping up as if alive itself to blow out of her way. Sitting crosslegged on the bare ground, the black haired girl watched Rana. "You make that sound like a bad thing."
I had hoped maybe my kind was responsible for this. A small sigh passed by her red maw, as she stretched. The blue flames on her back lit up bright as she sneezed, some of Alatariel's left over ash getting in her nostrils.

In the midest of the burned trees a golden dragon galloped his way through the ash. A man sat on his bareback. "Vere! Where are we going now?" the man cried. "I smell the remains of a fire," the dragon bluntly stated. His sky patterened wings flared to his sides. "Why don't we just fly?" the man shouted in confusion. "I don't feel like it," Vere bluntly stated. Then all there was, was the sound of his hooves beating against the dirt. Suddenly he stopped. "Dragaon," he gasped.

A sound reached the woman's ears, causing her to turn her head. "Who could that be?" She didn't expect an answer from Rana, really. The wyrm was soon standing beside her, eyes narrowing at a figure somewhere in the distance.
I cannot tell. She said finally, turning her head towards Alatariel. Maybe they will not notice us. However, her claws were already cutting through some of the dirt. She lowered her head as she sketched symbols in a rough circle just as the distant shadow came to a halt. leaping back, she looked up at her bonded.
Alatariel checked all the symbols quickly, waving her hand over each until they blazed forth with small power. The circle shimmered to life, a mirror that did not reflect the two faces looking down into it.
Light wyrm, Rana said rolling her eyes. Her tail flicked as she hissed, burshing the mirror's marks away with one clawed foot.

Soon, the pair came into feint view. "Vere, what type of wyrm is that?" the man gasped. Vere didn't answer. He paw the ground nervously and gave his tail an arching swish. "Vere?" "Be silent Nagisa. Their scrying us," Vere hissed. He flared his wings in a threatening fashion.

The arrow shaped tail flicked again, tracing a small pattern in the ashes. The flare of his wings was meant to be a challenge, but what kind of light wyrm would attack a hatchling? The hybrid frowned, looking at the shadow across the way. Who are you? Her thoughts broadcasted so the other wyrm could hear and speak.
Slowly, the human was reaching to her side and unsheathing her dagger. Some wyrms got violent when opposed with the opposite element, or even just if a hybrid got in the way. Dirty up the blood, or so her father had taught her. "Are they going to attack us?" Her voice had dropped to a whisper, eyes narrowing at the wyrm facing them.
Assume the worst.

Vere took to the sky and flew the little way down the hill. "What are you doing?" Nagisa asked. Vere grinned a dragonish grin. "You'll see," he growled landing heavily a few away from the pair.

Rana's head followed the ascent and descent of the adult wyrm, her tail flicking again, this time dangerously close to her bonded as she turned. Answer me, Light Wyrm. Her tone was calm, her eyes glittering darkly. What to do, what to do? If only her sister were here... No. Cursa could not help her, and she couldn't rely on her dark sister any longer.
Leaning back to avoid the sharp limb of her bond, Alatariel finally had an idea. The strict training of battle buzzed in her mind, her dagger lying flat against her left arm. She didn't speak, her eyes narrowing to follow the wyrm and his bonded. Her mind steadily cleared, save for the presence of Rana, burning through her clear focus as a burning blood red being, which seemed more amused by the possible danger instead of fearing.

Vere, was the telepathic answer the other recived. Vere was having some fun. Nagisa noticed the dagger in the other's hands. He strung the bow he took from his back. Vere nodded his agreement at Nagisa's motions of battle. "Shall we fight? I doubt that one is good aligned and I'm itching for battle," Vere growled. "Wait until they move first," Nagisa warned. Vere grinned. He had a feeling they would. He trotted even closer.

What do you want, Vere? Rana demanded, eyes narrowing as the light wyrm came closer. Undoubtedly good aligned, light wyrm, male... This one was trouble. State your business or halt! Her voice boomed as loud as she could make it, the blue fire down her back flaring up brightly. If he tried to hurt her or her bonded, he was in for trouble.
Alatariel was waiting for the command. She could act independently, but waiting for Rana's command was far easier. Without realizing it, a small mark drifted between their mind, Rana's tail idly sketching it in the dirt. The rune began to softly glow, waiting for the begginning.

Nagisa slid off of Vere's back as the wyrm halted. "You started the fire didn't you? You destroyed this place!" Vere suddenly roared. He frightened Nagisa into letting his nocked arrow fly right into Rana's hide. Vere cast his blue eyes to his bonded, who didn't believe what just happened. In those blue depths, for the first time, pure worry glowed.

Rana was about to snarl how they had expected her to cause such a massive amount of damage in so little time when a piercing pain shot through her shoulder. The hatchling let loose a loud pained cry, setting her bonded into motion.
In the blink of an eye, Alatariel had a cut going lengthways on her arm, the blood filling up the mark on the dirt. The wound healed as quickly as it had opened, almost as if it hadn't been there at all, were it not for the remains on the ground. The mark seemed to conjure up light, the woman placing the images of the two facing them in her mind. Their feautres were blurry, but the magic didn't always need specifics. It invisibly lashed out, the tendrils of power trying to tie themselves to hold the opposite pair still.

Nagisa twitched his bow around making a rune in the earth. A single tear dripped from Vere's eye and the power that held them captive loosened. "Nagisa!" Vere cried slipping free. His bonded wasn't so lucky. Nagisa remained trapped. Vere breathed in deeply and set a heat wave to encircle Rana's bonded. The wave burnt everything around the human. "You shall pay for your mistake!" Vere roared charging the other dragon. His hooves sounded of angry thunder and his blue eyes held no mercy. He had set the killer in him free. Lowering his horns, he slammed into Rana. All Nagisa could do was watch.

Rana stood her ground as the light dragon charged. As he neared, she ducked into a smaller ball, exposing not only the flame stripe down her back, but three spikes that she had inherited from her loving father. The pain that occured jolted her as she was sent flying through the air, letting loose a faint whimper as she hit the ground. Leave... she slowly uncurled from her little ball, pain screaming through her body. ...me... she glanced at her bonded, seeing her trapped by fire that this damned wyrm had dared to use. ...ALONE! Fire exploded from her mouth, aimed at the light wyrm.
"Pay for what mistake?" Alatariel shouted. She stood inside the ring of fire, kicking dirt at the flames until they smothered enough to let her through. "You attacked us first, you... lizard!"

Vere dodged the flames. "I'm of fire too! The fire and light of the sun!" he snarled heavily. He was weary from running. Blood trickled down his neck from where Rana's spikes had hit him. He stomped his hooves and roared and spell in an ancient tongue. Nagisa had seen this one before. It started to get really hot as the tempature around them rose as if it were summer, not fall.

Rana began to breathe heavily, the heat starting to make her eyelids droop. She shook her head feebly, feeling the heat around her started to increase far more than the spell he was using. If he kept this up, her body would reach its maximum tolerance. Is this how you get your amusement? She asked, eyes narrowing. We have done nothing to this forest... NOTHING! He had to let this spell go... He had to... The arrow in her shoulder continued to pain her. She tried to grab it with her teeth to pull it out, succeeding in only hurting herself more by tugging it up.
"What kind of wyrm attacks a hatchling?" The human hissed, letting go of the hold on Nagisa in favor of keenling down to draw more symbols in the ash. Weather magic weasn't her strongest place, but with autumn all about and pretesting to the rise in heat, it didn't even take a binding of blood for her to manage a small breeze to the hatchling. It wasn't much... just enough to keep Rana from combusting.
