Since this thread is on the topic of grammer, I think I am going to rant about people who can't be litterate to save their life.
Is it really that hard to capitolize the first words in sentences and names? All you do is hold down the shift key and hit a letter. It takes all of what? Half a second. And is it really that hard to punctuate correctly. I mean, at least periods at the end of sentences. I don't care if you have too many comas': at least you have them to seperate thoughts. And paragraphing! Any more than 7-10 lines becomes tenious to read. (At least for me) Paragraphing for quotations is not that hard. Every time there is a new speaker, there is a new paragraph.
Shortened words are a whole other topic. I don't usually mind them, but some times it just bugs me. A lot. If you can't figure out how to spell a word, substitute it for a word that means the same thing. (If possible) If you really butcher a spelling, it runs the risk of being misunderstood. Actually, if you butcher any of the things mentioned in this rant, you run the risk of being misunderstood.
This is not ment to point fingers or tell teach you english, it's just stuff that bugs me.

Bravo Arlan. You have ranted about what so many of us complain about to our inner deviants. The only thing that truly bothers me is the whole "text talk" type of thing. This isn't a cellphone. It's a message board, where others will be seeing your words. At least make them legible. Wat R U up 2? Is just as bad as Leet-speak. Both are pointless and don't belong on a message board.
Granted there are some new people out there, who don't fully understand what role playing is, but they should ask before attempting. When they have only a meek understanding of what it is really about, they totally slaughter it. Ask for HELP. Is that such a hard concept? There are many of us who don't mind helping, but we aren't telepathic. We can't read your minds. Role playing is, for the most part, third person - past tense. Is that such a hard concept? None of this : . No.
Spelling. Like you said Arlan, if you don't know how to spell something, use a synonym (A word that is synonymis(means the same) as another word). Let me help:Dictionary.com Just type the word in the search box. If it's incorrect, it will say "Did you mean: -word-" It's really helpful. Utilize this tool!
Now that I've ranted, I feel rather better. Thanks for the inspiration Arlan!

You are welcome.
From experience, it seems to me that people don't want to ask for help because the are afraid of sounding stupid. This only pertains to certain people though. Others have no problem asking questions and those people will be the ones that get farther in life.

Mmmhm, that's true. We're pretty much screwing ourselves. Goodness, we need a president washington to pop up somewhere and kick Bush outta state-because he hasn't done anything majorly helpful. Just mostly hiding things. And with that whole wire tapping fiasco, as well as the five-day wait for Katrina, and not just shutting up about 9/11. Yeah, I said it. Bush needs to shut up about 9/11-what's done is done. It was an awful, awful, thing. Buuuuuut, we need to MOVE ON. Because, it'll happen again if we don't get off our asses and do something to prevent events like that from occuring again.
Emo has turned into one of the most irritable, annoying, and over-all just being a pain fads. They are juust wasting space. If they are killing themselves, let them do. If they think thier lives are so bad, when they can afford all the emo clothes and hair-style, LET THEM. Because, at this point, I CANNOT give them any more sympathy.
YES. THANKYOU. SOMEONE needs to tell the apparently retarded part of the white community to stop acting black. It is NOT like ANOTHER M&M is going to pop up. That was one of those, ah, weird events. Like tallest basketball player is asian, best golfer is black, it's just one of those peculiar things. I think they're just trying to escape being part of the president's race. XD That'd be pretty funny if that was it was-but, I'm not white(although I look it), so I can't say anything about it.
Although I'm a spoiled brat, and still a bit of a kid, I do agree that there are some kids, mostly younger pre-teens that need to get their buttws smacked with a wooded paddle. I mean, younger kids on my bus(elementary)are cursing us out, throwing things like candy and rocks at us, as the admins of my school merely blame us. It's one of those things that pisses me off. SEVERLY. The little 7 year olds act gangster, act important, when they should behave a little better and have some fun without insulting people. D: Seriously.
Yeah, bring back an eye for an eye. Because to not be able to smack someone who launched something at your head if completely nuts. I mean, read 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. Because that's what is happening now. Oh,my,goodness. Exceptions for mentally hadicapped, old people, and people under 4. As well as those who go mentally insane because of pescription drugs that are OK'd by a docter and taken in amounts required.
Nice debate topics, btw, very mamusing to, er, debate about. ^__^ OH, and Mel Gibson needs to stop being insane, Micheal Jackson needs a tan, stop being *****, and do the moonwalk again, and Hollywood needs to control itself a little bit better.

That was wonderful. More than just two people understand where I'm coming from. I agree Notebook-chan, people need to stop giving Emo kids sympathy, because for them, it's like a drug. they get high off of people feeling sorry for them and their pathetic lives. If they seriously had problems, they need to stop bitching and do something about it. No one gets anywhere just complaining. Then again, it sounds like we're complaining about them, but, well, genocide isn't exactly smiled upon. JUST KIDDING! I wouldn't really kill them all, but I'm tired of trying to help them, and being shoved away. Let them all rot.

The emos that just fake it will eventually get over the phase. Or at least we hope so. Those are the kind that need to be set straight about their lives. Not giving them sympathy, but telling them that they need to grow up. The ones that actually have genuine problems don't nessisarilly need sympathy, but they do need people to understand and believe them.

3nodding Thank you. I do my best to put myself above the acid clouds and to see the version of the debates from a bird's eye view. Where everything is clearer.
The emos are annoying to a point where it's ridiculous. They just want attention as far as I'm concerned. If people try to help them, and they act like it's no use, well, too bad. Because although I haven't met an emo, never seen one in real life, I have the basic knowledge to just simply state that it's something that we need to get rid of. So, Emos, hardcore or not, I'm going to be a bit harsh on this, But Auntie Becky says that only YOU can fix your so called "Awful" life, where you have a family who is concerned, a roof, food, and money to spend on Emo-ish clothes. Think about people who REALLY have it bad, like that person sitting on the park bench, or the little girl from Africa. THEY don't go Emo, THEY WORK TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR THEMSELVES. THEY TRY. You just sit and complain as everything you want is handed to you on a silver platter. So Y'know what? GET OVER IT!
However, if your life IS terrible, and I mean HOSNAP!Terrible, then you COULD be emo. Or GET HELP. Whatever appeals to your brain...
Ahhh, wow. I haven't ranted about stuff in a while. o_o;;

Ranting is good for the soul, but if it turns into outright bashing, then it might be time to stop. If people bash for too long, others start believing it without drawing their own opinions. That is basically what is wrong with society today. That and that we try to blame others for our mistakes.
