He flicked his ear. So this was going well, afterall. Good, good. Though, he didn't think normal, smart-guy flirting worked with this one, even if he tried. She seemed slow. He would probably expect a delayed reaction from wagging a rabbit in her face. Or he could just not be used to shy creatures.
"I can. " He nodded, making sur ehe wasn'tnodding slowly as if explaining something to a pup. "The water is cold, tohugh. " He backed away a few paces, potioning towards the ocean behind him. "But its pretty easy. "

Maia grinned, now a little more confidant. She was used to challenges, learning to hunt - her mother had always pushed her. When it came to being sociable Maia was a little slow to be truthful, but not when it came to trying a new technique, especially when she might not be instantly disadvantaged by her bright pelt.
For the first time since the pair had met her smile was pure happiness, her worry melting away in the face of the challenge to come. She nodded at his tone. She had been in cold water before and didn't especially like it but food was food and she could dry off and warm up later.
"Well, lets get starte" her voice was stronger now, confidant in a way she hadn't shown before. She could almost forget she was in the company of a male, even. Oddly, for a moment, she looked very much like her mother.

Finally she wakes up. Really, it'd be pretty boring if she spent the whole day like this, and even worse if she spent the whole night like this. He turned and trotted towards the water, waiting for her where the waves lapped over his paws, just going over his ankle, higher if the waves were stornger.
He turned his head, looking back at the orange and black female with a meek grin. "Urry up, 'fore the high tide! "

Maia was in challenge mode now and she bounded after the male, showing her age. She was still bare more than an adolescent and had that level of enthusiasm about life which often fades with age.
The black and tangerine she wolf was shocked as water she had splashed up on her fast entry into the water landed on her face. It wasn't that it was cold - she expected that - but that it tasted salty! Like the fish she had just eaten. Her tongue moved over her muzzle lapping off the strong tasting water.
"What's a high tide?" she asked cautiously as she waded out beyond him, enjoying this deep, odd water. She wondered vaguely if it was some sort of large, predatory fish which they'd have to avoid.

"Tis when th' waves go all the way up there. " He motioned with his nose towards where they had been, or erhaps a bit further. "Is dangerous, cause the waves can drag you away. Den you drown. " He shrugged. He'd seen a wolf be dragged away before, well, a pup, but it'd been stron enough o even tear awaysomething big and strong.
He started trotting again, but as thewater got deeper, it begame more lagged, him needing to raise his paws more and more, untill finally, he couldn't reach the ground anymore, and was forced to paddle. "Come on. "

Maia had never considered that the ocean might move it was an odd concept and she wondered what in the world caused it to do that. She shoved the thought to the back of her mind, though, as she followed Trap out into the deeper water. She had never been in water any deeper than her knees before and at fist she found it a little claustrophobic to have the waves lapping up against her sides.
Swimming, too, was forgeign to her. It took her a few moments before instinct kicked in and she began to doggy paddle after the buff coloured male. It was chilly in the water and she shuddered as the waves began to push at her. She imagined some deep force trying to drag her down into the water and paddled forward with a bit more intent.
