(( Sorry for the delay - back at Uni now Xx;; ))
Her breath came in soft gasps as she tried to let the pain work itself through. She let the sharp, stabbing pain worm its way out from her chest, reducing to a dull red, scattered pain which gripped her tightly but didn't steal her breath.
She got to her feet once again, walking gingerly to where the happy looking young male stood proudly over the dead elk. His technique had been alright - mostly instinct she guessed - but at the end of the day the elk was dead, the pair had a meal, and that was what was important.
Iphis managed a smile, feeling almost motherly to the black and white male as he stood there with a smile. It was the first time she'd seen him look proud of himself and it was a good look on him. Still.
"Well, whit are yeh waitin' fur? Ah thought yeh said yeh were hungry?" her comment was harsh but said lightly, the pain and her content at having more than a mouthful of a meal in front of her taking the edge off her sarcasm.
She somewhat assumed that he didn't notice her hurt and was glad. She was obviously presenting herself strongly - like the dire she aspired to be. Her smile was almost savage as she bore the pain, leant forward and started to work her powerful, large, jaws on the carcass.

(( no worries dea, I'm just as bad. Want to wrap this up in a couple more posts? I'd like to start a new one between these two! x3 ))
Uhh... His eyes flickered between the kill and her, remembering what his mother had said about packs. Surfe they were lones but there was an obvious pecking order...wasn't there? She was bigger, stronger and...better, so surely she should have the authority to eat first?
He lowered himself slowly onto the ground, casting one gaze almost hesitantly towards her, then began to feast, pausing only as she began to eat. She certainly was stronger than him.
He gorged himself until his belly looked swollen and when he was finally done he raised his head and rolled back on his side, releasing a contented sigh.
Oh curse the moons! He howled, I ate too much o' this. His words ended with a low whine.

(( Sounds good to me 83 ))
Sated, for the first time in days, her pain seemed to lessen a little as she lay down. Her belly was comfortably full and, although the ground was cold, she enjoyed lounging in the little bit of sun which peeked through the forest.
She didn't really notice his hesitancy. Although she had assumed a sort of casual dominance over him in her mind she had never really had aspirations of leadership - no more than any other wolf anyway. Her tongue lolled out of her mouth as she let out a sympathetic sigh. "Aye ah think ah bit of a wee bit more than mah belly needed" she paused a bit before adding "feels guid, though, eh?" a slight grin passed over her lips.
A deep breath made her grimace anew but she was to full and happy to care much about the consequences of that now. "Ah suppose yer not a bad wee hunter afterall" she said, almost as an afterthought. It was, in a way, her way of saying 'thanks'.

He shifted his weight and lay down gingerly on his slightly swollen belly, glad to finally be putting some fat on his skinny little frame. Then witha small nod he movedto was his paws like a great kitten, his tongue washing the dirt from between each toe.
He paused only in his washing to glance appreciativly at her for her compliment but shook his nose slightly from side to side. Nah, I ain't no goo' at huntin'. If yoo weren't 'ere than I'd have turned tail an' ran. He gave a small nod and snorted quietly, moving back to was at his paws until they were squeaky clean.
Then slowly he raised his head up and closed his eyes, letting the sun warm his face. His nose glistened with moisture and for a moment he looked quite peaceful.
Dunno wha' I'm gunna do when yer gone an' I left to ma lonesome.

"Aye well... y'did what ye were telt and that's the important thing." she replied, her mouth opening in a long, wide, luxurious yawn. She could happily go to sleep right here, she thought, content for the first time in a good while. Her tongue flicked out over her muzzle licking the last traces of tasty gore from it. It had been a while since she'd feasted so well - having help always made things much easier when it came to hunting and she really was appreciative of the black and white male's presence.
She wouldn't quite admit to liking his company, yet, but the pair seemed to work well in an odd sort of way. Travelling together might be to the benefit of both of them. In Iphis' mind this thought was simple and quickly expressed after Fluke spoke.
"Aye ah dinnae eat so well on mah own" she didn't mind admitting this as it was the reason they had worked together to bring down the elk. It was a reality, not a matter of pride. "If yer no goin anywhere in particular then mebbe we cuid dae a few more hunts" she looked over at him "Yer such a skinny bugger ah widnae like tae think whit'd happen if ah left ye" she added, pride satisfied though she hadn't realised that she'd shown she maybe actually cared now wether her helper lived or died now.

His nose twitched softly as he listened to her and he found himself strangely lulled by her accent. It was so rich and thick and easy to listen to that it felt almost natural one should speak that way.
His accent was brought on by himself and his laziness to speak properly, it wasn't inherited or taught, it was just made up - much to his mother's distress.
He blamed it on not being full-blooded wolf but deep down he knew it was his way of getting some attention. He wanted to feel appreciated and loved but though his mother had tried to be tender she had failed. He didn't blame or hate her though, in fact he was glad. If she hadn't been cold towards him he probably would have stayed by her side and never gotten to taste freedom. Atleast now he could truly say that he had lived! He had hunted for the moon's sake!
Yer sure? He asked, trying to hide his surprise, Ah mean I'm nuthin' special. Not e'en a proper wolf. He also didn't hide the fact that he had dogs blood in him. Why should he be ashamed of something that he didn't know? He had know idea what a dog was truly like and Malcolm had seemed to think they were something grand. However, he was a creature dwindling between. Neither dog nor wolf. Would he ever find a place that would be suitable for him?
Skinneh? He snorted and tried to mock hurt. Listen Miss Bloo, jes cos yer short an' stocky dun meen yah 'ave to be jealous o' ma good looks. He was teasing again and it showed in the glittering of his golden eyes.
Then with a yawn he lowered his head to cradle it between his forepaws.

He'd said that before, hadn't he? That he wasn't a real wolf. What was it he called himself? A wog? Iphis didn't think much on it - she didn't seel she was a normal wolf either so why challenge others who held that assumption. She harrumphed as he teased her, never having liked much being called what she so obviously was. Her face shifted and became slightly huffy.
"Aye well, at least ah kin' take care o' muhself." she retorted, sneering with mock derision. "An how anythin' that looks like you dae can call itsel' good lookin' ah'll never know!" she grinned as her yellow eyes met his golden. "An as tae keepin' ye around ah suppose yer a bit better company than squirrels. No much better, mind, but beggars cannae be choosers." Her smile had shifted again and become warmer. It wasn't so bad being teased when you could tease back, she thought. Before it had been all defensive but she guessed that it helped she didn't feel inferior to the gawky male.
A yawn split her face as she tiredly tried to worm her body against the ground to find a comfortable enough spot to rest on. She'd been pushing herself too hard these past few weeks and now that she was well fed, had company and could relax a little she found all the small aches in her body were crying for attention and telling her they'd very much like it if she stopped and had a good read, thankyouverymuch.

It seemed teasing was second nature to Fluke, or maybe he had just picked it up from his new friend here, either way he didn't seem to mind so much. It was all in good humour and there was something so annoying about this blue female that he actually considered her a friend.
They were a good partnership!
Ma looks rrr unique. He replied, and that was definately one word for it. The poor flea-ridden, skinny little hybrid was a pathetic excuse for a wolf.
He huffed and yawned, finding his companion's faigue contagious, then he stretched out on the grass and rolled onto his side. Letting his eyes fall closed as he encouraged sleep.
Ne'er spoke tah a sqwirl before. He mumbled to himself, and when he dreamed he dreamed of squirrels that knew physics that befuddled even his intellectual mind.
(( you can make a last post if you want and then I can start a new thread? I thought we could do one that takes place after Fluke's fight and when he's injured? ))

The blue female barked a short laugh. "Aye, unique, that's the word fer it alright." her face had a soft smile as, close to sleep, she listened to the male's mumblings. "Aye.. they don't talk back much often" she murmered softly, her eyelids drooping. "Tend tae turn tail and git as far away as fast as they can" she half-smiled, her head falling against her paws, soft pains all over ignored for now.
A few moments later her throat began to rumbled forth a rather undignified snore.
(( ^^; Sorry for the short ending~ And yep, that sounds fine to me 8D ))
