I don't have a lot of gadgets, to be honest. I've got limited space in my kitchen, so I try to do things as simply as possible. The tools my grandmother used didn't take up much space, didn't use electricity, and didn't have parts that got lost. Give me a knife, a skillet or Dutch oven, a mixing bowl and spoon, and I'll make you anything you desire.

I take it back. There are a couple of little gadgets that I want. Most (okay, all) are related to my bento-making hobby.

A wok. It allows you to fry, deep-fat fry, steam, poach, simmer, boil, grill, and I've even prepared a salad cold in a wok (Getting the seasoning of my wok into the dry ingredients) It heats quick, and I love the high sides.

I actually have a couple: KitchenAid mixer, microplane, Pampered Chef metal measuring cups (it comes with a 3/4 cup!), and my glass nesting mixing bowls.

Cast iron pans. Ohhh yes. You don't even have to wash them...just scrub them down with heated salt and let the seasoning soak right in. With a good cast iron pan, you won't have to add any salt or pepper or anything; the flavor is in the pan and oozes out onto the food.
