I would have to say my favorite kitchen gadget, if you can call it that, is a checkerboard cake set. I recently upgraded my old worn out model for TWO new ones that are non-stick, and come with 3 of the divider inserts rather than the single my old one had. Why two you ask? One round and one square! They are so much fun, and it really looks like you went crazy with your mad cake skillz. If you haven't ever seen one, check out this link http://www.joyofbaking.com/CheckerboardCake.html. You can make your cakes from scratch or just use a box mix.

I bake tons of cakes for work whenever there is a special occasion so I have done this one a bunch of times. My daughter wanted a spongebob birthday cake one year so we did yellow cake and then took white cake and dyed it blue. Blue tinted frosting, a spongebob topper and gummy octopus completed the look. I did one for a 50th which was a "tuxedo" cake. I used DARK chocolate cake with white cake (made with only egg whites) and the contrast was stunning.

I recommend one of these to everyone, but beware... if you don't have a picture handy forget trying to explain how its done! I STILL have people thinking that I cut out little squares of cake and assemble them this way! lol

My favorite gadget isn't really a gadget per se....it's an oven mitt and it's not really an oven mitt hard to explain LOL. Anyhow what it does is it sits on top of a pot that's all metal so that you don't forget your pot holder and just grab the hot lid.

Oh yes ...a lid grabber hat heart

My other favorite gadget it a crock pot...I'm into Once a Month Cooking and it is a necessity big time! heart

Whenever I make pancakes there is one gadget I must have on hand and that gadget is....

a turkey baster!

sounds crazy i know, but with it you can easily form a variety of uniquely shaped pancakes guaranteed to make everybody happy.

I've done everything from Mickey Mouse to letters and it's so much fun!

so next time you make pancakes make sure to keep the essential turkey baster near at hand...

MY favurite Gadget would have to be my Blender!
When you make a chilled frappe, stick a few cubes of ice in the blender and add the ice to the frappe and it's just HEAVENLY!

MY second faveurite would have to be (i know it's really nothing much) my cookie cutters. It's really fun making different shapes with different recipies!. like shaping the bread of french toast before cooking it. Little french stars are really cute! And at chrismas, have little muffins in the shape of trees!

I don't have it quite yet, but I'll be getting a food dehydrator soon. It sounds odd, but those veggies and fruits that you like the taste of but don't want to lose consistency are greatly aided when they've been dehydrated and then reconstituted in sauces, etc. A friend of mine once made a pasta sauce by reconstituting dried squash, onion and a couple other things in tomato sauce. It was the best thing I've ever tasted!

I have two kitchen gadgets that i love, my electric wok, and my smoothie blender. My electric wok is awesome, especially since i'm a university student, and stirfries are pretty near the least expensive meal that's got most of the food groups in them that i can discover. My smoothie blender is like a normal blender, except that it's got a spigot on it, which becomes quite popular when my compadres come over.

Mine would be this chopper/mincer thing by The Pampered Chef. Don't get me wrong, I love using knives, but it makes things like nuts and mincing garlic sooo much easier. I'd recommend one to anyone who likes a quick fix and easy chopping. :3

One thing I can't live without is a good spice rack with GOOD BOTTLES.
Too often I buy spices and they come in cheap easily breakable bottles. The ones I bought are good quality, but the containers are almost round so they just bounce off the floor.
lol clumsiness.

Its so hard to pick just one of the tools that I use every day. If any of them were missing it would be so hard to make certain dishes

But I would have to say my favorite tools are my partial All-Clad LTD2 cookware set. I only have a few pieces but they are so easy to use to prepare meals and clean. In fact the ones I have are almost 20 years old.

Someday I want to able to afford the 8 qt stockpot.

I'd have to say any of my gadgets from Pampered Chef:

I have the Handy Chopper that was mentioned before. Also, my adjustable measuring spoons and Measurall Cup are amazing! I also have a set of 1 cup-size prep bowls with lids - they're fabulous for preparing foods and/or storing them! If you haven't checked out Pampered Chef, you definitely should!

They do the home parties like Home Interiors or Tupperware or The Body Shop. But the fun part is that you get to make a dish with their stuff and learn how their products work. And my absolute favorite part is that almost ALL of their items are dishwasher safe!!!!!

I hope I don't get kicked off. I know I sound like a total commercial, but if you love to cook, but don't want the inconvenience of handwashing and using gadgets "the old fashioned way," Pampered Chef totally rocks!!!

Since I don't have very many tools, the only knife I really use is my Butcher Knife. I use it to cut everything. Sometimes, I even use it as my spatula.
