Edward's jaw nearly hit the floor as she pretty much talked about what he had been thinking. The winged teen backing up a few steps, his fur on end and expression one of complete and utter shock.
"Are you... reading my thoughts?!" he asked, golden eyes wide. He'd never encountered something like that before.. and well.. it unnerved him to know that someone knew exactly what he was thinking. Not to mention it was an invasion of privacy.

Bryna watched him, a frown etching its way across her face at his reaction, this time just watching his body language rather than picking at his thoughts. "...I'll stop. Nobody ever said anything about it before but maybe they didn't know I was doing it..." Her ears drooped and she stared devoutly at the floor. "I'm sorry Nii-chan. I didn't mean to make you feel bad."

It took a moment.. but the teen soon relaxed and he smiled a bit sheepishly at Bryna. "Its alright.. just... surprise me, that's all." He would have appreciated a bit of warning or something though. "Just... try not to do it all the time, okay?" Aheh. Edward did like to have some privacy as far as his thoughts were concerned, just like anyone else would.

A sheepish little grin crept across her muzzle and she nodded mutely. She could handle not all the time.
She fidgeted for a moment before switching the topic to something else. "I think Atae knew you were going to go... even if you came back like you did today. I guess she knew you'd need a... a trip." There was a little sad lump that made that last sentence hard to finish without a pause. "I think she wanted to at least bring you back the book and wish you luck. She didn't think she'd catch you if you came back... so... I'll say it for her just in case, if that's ok?"

Oh yes... Atae. She seemed to be rather perceptive... or maybe she had a gift similar to Bryna's? Eh. o_O; Seems like a lot of kitsu he hangs out with are gifted with interesting abilities.
"She can keep the book as long as she needs it... and it really belongs to... Roy Mustang." That name said with some distaste. "So she can give it back to him if she wants. There's more books here too... tell her she should continue reading, its the best way to learn, along with practice."

Well, Atae did have her empathy, but she had to be near someone for it to work, and even then it usually only worked if they were particularly emotional. No... Atae knowing Ed was going to leave simply came from knowing Ed well enough to realize that was the sort of thing he'd do.
The way he'd said Roy's name made Bryna's ears p***k. "Do I need to shoot him in the face with my water gun?" She'd do it, and gladly, if Nii-chan asked her to. Well, if she ever found him. Atae would be glad to know what to do about the book... books, really. She'd wanted to get permission before she went and just took more of them to read.
"Try to have fun while you're gone, Nii-chan?" She fished around in her pockets and pulled out her ever expanding paperclip chain and nudged it toward him. "And... you can take those with you. Then you can remember me when you look at them and... I dunno, maybe you can use them to pick locks or something." Ah... another one of Bryna's bad habits.

A devilish grin spread across his face at the idea of Roy getting shot in the face with a water gun. "I think that's a great idea!" he replied merrily, his spirits lifting a bit at the mental image of a peeved Roy with a dripping face. Har! "Infact, squirt him as much as you like!" Yes... he encouraged such behavior when it came to Mustang.
He then blinked and smiled softly, "I'll try... atleast I'll have some company." When she pushed the paperclip strand towards it, he stared at them for a moment. "Thanks Bryna.. are you sure?" He knew how fond she was of her paperclips. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the one she'd given him before.

Well, with permission given, Ed could rest assured that if ever Roy Mustang and Bryna had an encounter, Roy would walk away dripping wet. Especially after Kitsyn gave her that water cannon she'd mentioned.
Bryna nodded again and pushed the paperclips closer to her friend. "Nii-chan is more important than paperclips, and... I dunno, they might be good for something. They're good for lots of stuff."
Suddenly she yawned, little pink tongue and white teeth showing. She blinked and shook her head to fend off her sudden bout of tiredness. She didn't want to leave yet...

A soft smile on his face, Edward took the paperclip strand and attached the one she'd given him before, to the chain. "Thanks." It was kind of touching really.. even if he couldn't think of anything to do with it... but he would treasure the paperclips. "I'll bring these back to you, okay?" The strand being put in his pocket for safekeeping.
When he noticed her yawn, he eyed her with a smirk, "Maybe you should take a nap."

Bryna could not deny that she was tired. After all the bags under her eyes were proof of that, too. Somehow she just felt more tired after seeing her paperclips safely deposited. "But I don't know if Nii-chan will be here when I wake up..."
And that was basically it, wasn't it? She just didn't want to let go yet, when he'd just been found. But he had to go on his trip before he could come back too. "If you send any picture-notes or letters you can send them here... I'll come look." She stifled another yawn, looking frustrated. "I guess I'll just have to wait for Nii-chan to come back?"

All he could think to do was smile and nod, lifting his paw again to ruffle Bryna's hair gently. "Okay... I'll try not to stay away too long." He didn't know how much he could promise... but he would do what he could. He wondered if there would be any mailboxes where they went. Hm.

Bryna smiled as brightly as she felt she could, under the circumstances. "Nii-chan will come back. I know. You'll come back when you can. I'll try to have stories for you too when you get back." As much as she didn't like the thought of him going, the thought of him coming back was better... because he'd be better then. The hurt wouldn't be gone, but he'd be better, and it was better for Nii-chan to be happy in Bryna's bright little golden eyes.
"Nii-chan should take a nap too. Nii-chan looks more tired than I do." She hugged him one more time before drifting out. She wasn't going to say goodbye. He was going to come back. This was just going to be like a really long time between visits... right?

"We can share stories when I get back" he agreed, and hopefully he would have some good ones to tell. If he couldn't send the letters... he would atleast write everything down so she could read them. That's his intention atleast.
The suggestion for him to get some sleep too, didn't sound like a bad one. Ed hugged Bryna back and watched her go, a small smile left on his maw. Atleast he knew.. he would be missed by someone. Letting out a quiet sigh, the teen tossed his coat and shoes aside before hopping up on the bed. Flopping onto his side, Edward curled up and tried to sleep.
