Recently reading the book
Into the wild, and it discussed on some people who were brought back from the verge of death due to starvation described that you got a euphoric feeling towards the end. As such if there is such a good hearted feeling it could cause you to feel enlightened. Enlightened, and good feeling could equal get closer to god.
Personally not a path I would follow, nor encourage. But hey- there are those nuts out there.
And the voice from the dark called
I would say the people in that book probably appreciate what they had more, then through that thought they felt a closer connection to a higher power as they were greatful for what they had.
However I'm with you, seems they went mad and are now delusional. Its not something I want to try either.
The Echos subsisded to shadows once more.
