Kajji padded near the skull, not even aware of the other living soul. Sniffing the ground, he raised his mis-matched eyes to the sky as if to ask the great kings of the past why they had scorned him so. Turning his gaze back to the dreary land around him, he continued onward. Limping from the bite wound on his back from his fight with the god of chaos. His dark fur was dust covered and blood stained. His eyes a lifeless stare, no sign of the fire that used to light them. They held an insane crazed look from his life style but that was all. The scars covering his body stood out pale against the black pelt. The only bright thing about him was the marred ruins down his back, some now ripped open from the bite wound. They'd scar over, creating a new pattern. Blood dripped slowly down his back, the wound now gaped open from the other cub's claws.

The auburn colored hyena returned to the vast wasteland she usually called home. She paced around sniffing the air, just then something caught her attention. It was the smell of fresh blood. She knew the smell almost instantly, Kivumbi hadn't smelt it in so long. Her mouth watered as she thought of the carcass that could be all alone waiting for her to sink her teeth into. She continued heading towards the smell her mind racing to whatever it could be. Finally she arrived to the blood she had been smelling. It was a cub. He was hurt. She stared coldly at him waiting for a response...

Kajji froze at the sight of the hyena. Fear filling his mis-matched eyes for a moment before it was replaced with the usual wild look. Crouching down defensivly, he let out a soft warning growl at the predator. Determined to let it know he wasn't going down without a fight.

"Why do you growl young one? I will not hurt you." Kivumbi said in a warm tone. "Sorry, it's just that expected a meal not an injured cub. I hope you can forgive me for startling you." Kivumbi let her guard down and walked closer to the cub. "My name is Kivumbi, I see you are hurt is there anyway I can help you?"

Unlike the hyena, Kajji kept his guard up. His gaze looked onto every move the hyena made. Ears twitching as it spoke he remained silent. Having given up on speaking to others, not that he really could. His voice was no more then a raspy gutteral growl.

"Are you going to be ok? Because I must be going i havent had a meal in a while and I have to find something to eat." She stared at the cub for a moment then turned around and began to walk in the other direction.

Kajji watched the hyena begin to walk off. Relaxing slightly as the distance between them grew. At least it wasn't that evil female who was always after him. That much he was thankful for. Ignoring the blood that coursed down his back, he moved to follow after the hyena. Thinking that he could steal some of it's food if it found any.

Kivumbi continued walking not noticing the cub trailing behind her. She was beginning to feel weak and wobbled from side to side walking through the tall grass. Kivu suddenly felt light headed, she tried to continue walking, but she tumbled to the ground.

Kajji watched silently as the hyena stumbled to the ground. Cocking his head slightly to one side, he slowly began to approach her. Sniffing the ground slightly as he moved towards her.

Kivu opened her eyes, she struggled getting up and fell right back to the ground. She saw the sun slowly setting which made her worry for if she wasnt able to continue moving she could be eaten. Kivumbi layed her head on the ground trying to regain what ever strength she had left.

Pausing about a foot away from the hyena Kajji watched her for a moment. Deciding that she wasn't a threat at least not in her present state, he moved ever so slowly closer to her.

Kivu turned her head towards the cub moving closer to her. "Could you.." she started to say. "Could you please...get me something to eat?" Kivu asked the young cub. "Im very weak...all i ask for is something...just something to eat."

Kajji froze as the hyena turned her head towards him. However hearing her plea for help, he gave a short nodd and bounded out of view. Several moments passed before he reappeared once more, dragging a scrap of meat he had managed to find. Dropping it next to her, he backed away slowly.

"Thank you..." she uttered as she slowly ate the scrap leaving some left over. "Would you like some for yourself?" she asked looking back at the cub.

He approached the food, his eyes filled with his nervousness and the feral drive to survive. Moving faster then one would expect given his condition, he snatched up the remaining scrap of meat. Darting backwards as he swallowed it with little chewing. It was amazing that he hadn't choked.
