((Okay, here's something I need to explain about Mizar before anybody gets mad at me...The way her magic works is that, if she's in a situation in which she has to obey the orders of someone, her magic is such that she has to obey them, even if it means doing things she wouldn't normally be able to do. Basically, while I cringe to say this, it's sort of like the house elves in Harry Potter. She can go through barriers she wouldn't normally be able to go through, ignore spells she normally wouldn't be able to ignore, or even completely disregard the laws of physics. The same rules do not, of course, apply to Sovern.))
((Also, Jet, when you do an attack that would take some time to complete, such as erecting a barrier around both the enemies in the area, you shouldn't just assume that your targets are going to stand there idly while you do it. You'd have to do it little by little, so that your targets have a chance to react to you or attempt to stop you. I'll let you get away with it this time, but just keep that in mind in the future.))
Mizar could feel the tug of her energies, but it was a minor annoyance at best. The path to the energies that sustained her was normally one-way--only Sovern had the ability to force her to part with that power. Mizar's barrier withstood Valin's assault, but she was growing annoyed by the Elf's close proximity to her. In a split second, energy spikes shot out from the barrier toward Valin, not aimed with quite the same lethal accuracy that had previously been Mizar's goal, but enough to wound him, at least, and to get him away from her. Why do they separate their ranks when fighting? she thought. They could kill him, but not like this...
((Jeebs...I just realized that I've totally ignored Debrah this entire battle XD))

Asmoday's attack had taken Sovern by surprise, and one of his arms was badly burned in his haste to erect a barrier to protect his vital points. It was after the fire subsided that he noticed Eldrich's assault on the golden chain that bound Sovern to Mizar. Hastily, Sovern shot a lightening blast at Eldrich's side, attempting to knock him off-course.
Sovern was not unfamiliar with the nature of Jet's barrier. It was a spell he had encountered on only one other occasion, a spell whose caster Sovern had taken especial relish in slaying. Sovern knew how to break the spell, but it would take time that he wasn't sure he had. Still, he could feel his power slipping slowly, and if he didn't act fast the barrier would be too strong for him to overcome.
"Protect me, Mizar," Sovern said. Then, when the imp shielded Sovern with a barrier of her own, Sovern began to chant, no longer affording to pay attention to the enemies outside.

((Yeah, go for it. We're not gonna stop you.))
Mizar flew over to Sovern's side, shielding him with a barrier with the same potency as her own. With her captor distracted, Mizar's carelessness could go unpunished for a short while. She did not attack Sovern's enemies, and nor did she shield the chain that bound the two of them together.

((Okay.....I'm sorry about that, but then again, you can override the timeline thing and say "before the barrier was complete" ya know. lol Also, I'm kind used to having the super powered Jet so I gotta keep remembering to power him down.))
One special attribute about the barrier and black flame was the fact that Jet could see somewhat by using the flame. Upon realizing that the chain was no longer shielded, Jet phased into the ground and into the barrier, and brought his sword, laced with black flame, down on the chain. If the chain was cut, then Jet would pour the majority of his power into the barrier and use his last amounts of power to teleport hisself and Mizar out of the barrier. If it didn't cut, Jet would put all of his power into a black flame slash right at the chain.

Eldrich was hit by the bolt of lighting that Sovern had shot and he fell to the ground, writhing in pain for only an instant. He then got on his hands and knees and looked toward them. Jet was in a very dangerous position, at that close range, he may be easily struck. 'Jet must know what he's doing.' Eldrich reasoned to himself. He then observed the barrier, in case Jet failed. A small amount of light energy appeared on his hand, while he wasn't familiar with this specific type of barrier, he had studied barrier during his time in elven lands. Eldrich attempted to work up a counter spell to the barrier. (since I have another character, I will be writing Eldrich's actions in a different color. Tell me if this is hard to see)

Jet's blade connected, shattering the golden chain that bound Mizar to Sovern. In an instant Mizar felt her strength returning to her, and the pressure that suppressed her true nature was instantaneously lifted. Sovern would feel it too, she knew, and already the sorcerer was pausing in his incantation, feeling his power beginning to drain, and blinking up at her as his true personality was being returned to him. Mizar's grin spread across her face, her rage taking hold. She would not allow Jet to teleport her--not now, with the power she'd taken from the ruins surging within her and the man who had enslaved her standing weak and defenseless, caged in by Mizar's own barrier.
"My, my, my," she cooed, a villainous smile spread across her childlike face as she stared down at him, "look where we find ourselves."
A twitch in Mizar's peripheral called for her momentary attention. It was the end of the gold chain, rearing up like a serpent readying to strike. She stared back at him, hastily trying to recite the spell. She smiled at this feeble gesture. He had caught her by surprise in Aster, but today he was not so lucky.
With a flick of Mizar's wrist, a spike shot inward at Sovern from the barrier surrounding him. The spike struck him through the heart, and for a moment his face wretched, his body frozen in position. Then the spike retracted, the barrier now dissipating, and Sovern slumped to the ground, dead.

Upon realizing that Mizar had refused the teleportation and now had a lot of power in her, he released the barrier and the runes disappeared, but still, Jet was very weak. He had forgotten about the cross embedded in his side and the blood that he had lost and was still losing. With a slight smile, Jet sheathed his sword with obvious effort, clutched his wound, and collapsed to the ground on the side opposite of the wound. He lay there, bleeding out more profusly and down to twenty five percent of his power. He was able to spare one glance at Asmoday before his vision began to blurr and he slowly began to slip into unconciousness.

Asmoday look down and saw Jet on the ground. Fear ran through her veins. She flew to him and sat down, putting his head on her lap. "You are losing a lot of blood, what can I do to help? There has to be something?" She was starting to cry.

Mizar glanced down at the bleeding Jet, realizing in an instant her obligation. He had freed her from her captivity, and thus he had given her a dept. Under normal circumstances, she would have viewed his peril with disinterest. It was never her habit to look out for anything other than her own self-interest.
Mizar sighed before teleporting to his side, leaving a tiny white puff of smoke behind. She wouldn't be able to do much on her own, but with the energy of the ruins fueling her she just might be able to save him.
"Panicking won't do any good," Mizar said, looking at Asmoday with weary eyes. "Now sit still. It'll waste most of my power, but I can heal him."
After saying this, Mizar felt around the inside of the wound with her tiny fingers. Jet was lucky in being unconscious, but Mizar still had to pump energy into his body to keep it from reacting to the wound by going into shock. She carefully pulled out the cross and set it aside before falling to the task of mending the flesh. She wouldn't be able to heal him completely--such magic was not accessible to her--but she could at least close off the wound and stop the pain and the bleeding. She had to be slow and careful. If she put too much energy into it, she could rend the wound further apart. If she didn't apply enough, the wound wouldn't close and the bleeding would continue. Finally, her task was done, and Mizar plopped to the ground looking drained but satisfied.
"I can't bring him back to consciousness," she said. "His body has to do that on his own. I would suggest taking him somewhere safe for the time being. That wound wasn't made in the battle with Sovern, but it was fresh, and whoever did it might still be around. What happens to him now is his business. My dept is repaid."

"You're a pushy little thing," Mizar said, her voice laced with disdain. "I don't suppose you can forgive me for my negligence, but I had more pressing concerns than small talk with you."
"But, to answer your question," Mizar said, slowly drifting upward, "I'm afraid I don't know you well enough to call you an ally, nor do I consider you enough of a threat to kill you." She teleported over to Anur, folding her arms on his head and resting her head upon them while the rest of her body remained suspended behind him. "The world is not black and white, my dear. There are many shades of gray, and many definitions of 'friend'."

Jet could hear what was going on around him and he could feel someone touching him. He could feel the person's warmth and he thought the person was Asmoday. He didn't recgonize Mizar's voice, but knew that he'd have to find out who had healed him when he woke up and thank them greatly.

Asmoday looked at Mizar. "Thank you." She still had tears in her eyes. She got up and put Jet on her back. "I will take him back to his room. He can rest there. I will back as soon as I can." With that, she was gone.
