Now it was Sirius' turn to laugh, Lily's statement that she would be welcome on the train with them was hilarious. "Yes, more than welcome. We are very accommodating." He whispered sarcastically to Claire and James. After he watched the both of them smugly, his dark black eyes began to glance at both James and Claire, but he was barely in the conversation about the little first years that he, himself, started. However, after a moment he was eventually pulled in and was able to use his ability to block out things, to block out Stephine's voice. It wasn't immediate, but the clawing in his brain that he presence had brought had seemed to have subsided. They talked a little longer than was usual about the first years; Sirius wanted it as a distraction, which he assumed was Claire's reason as well, and James wanted it as a cover for overhearing what the conversation between Lily and Stephine was.

"How are they short? I'm sure that we were at least a couple inches higher than that." Sirius interjected, noticing with a smile, that the boy he was pointing out was picking his nose and might have pushed it a little too high because of the ghost's appearance. James complained as well, "Do you suppose that all of the taller ones aren't allowed to come to Hogwarts anymore?" He was kidding, but Sirius continued it desperate for a distraction. "Glad that we got in when we did, I don't want to be stuck in a muggle school." The conversation ended there, all the seriousness that started the conversation had disappeared.

James smiled at Claire's reaction to his joke. He was glad that Sirius and Claire appreciated it for what he had meant for it to be. Sirius was in a fit of laughter as well. Sirius' laughter died out only when James, the only person in the circle that could contain his laughter, started back up another conversation. "What did you say was your favorite sweet, Sirius?" When Sirius answered, he was slightly distracted halfway through. His stomach seemed to have become upset, he knew the reason. He didn't have anything against Stephine. He was actually glad that Lily had friends almost anywhere, in fact, he was glad to sometimes have a break from her when her friends took her over. Though he hated it when they hogged her for too long. His problem with her was that she could get Lily to do something dangerous if she asked her to. Also, Sirius was always bound for trouble when Stephine came around. His ear had caught something unpleasant in Lily's conversation with Stephine that made him feel uneasy. He wasn't the only one, Sirius seemed to lose some of his upbeatness.

Sirius was abruptly brought into Lily's conversation with a strong tug of his arm. He was so surprised that he didn't fight her grip or Stephine placing her head his strong shoulder and his arm was entwined with hers. It had happened so suddenly that it took him more than a few seconds to understand what happened, all the while, he was frozen except for the glances at both Lily and Claire. He was begging for information on why she was being joyous on him. James clapped his forehead with his palm, realizing much faster than him, what Lily had just done. "Wha?" Sirius said, his face turning bright red as he looked from Claire's surprised face to Lily's pleading one. "I'm...you...what?" He, too, slapped his head with his free hand, covering his shamed face upon his understanding. He groaned loudly and tried not to look at Claire. Lily had just put him in a most unwanted position. "Why me?" Sirius mumbled to himself, sounding as if he were going to faint.

"I'm going with James." Claire's statement made both James and Sirius look up, removing their hands from their faces. Sirius' jaw dropped, so many things were happening all at once. He felt like he was going to explode soon. Even though they were both surprised, James' surprise was not the same as Sirius'. His was more like fear. Immediately, he saw that sparks were going to fly, immediately he shifted himself in a position that he hoped would hide him from any glares or pleading looks in their fight. His expression changed from surprise to horror as he watched Lily's reaction. He managed a glance in Sirius' direction and caught his gaze. They both knew they were thinking the exact same thing. "Why us?"

[Sorry if I didn't give James enough spotlight. I'm slowly growing used to him. So hopefully I'll be able to use him more.]

Claire was so mad, she could just spit. She felt so betrayed by Lily, and so full of disgust towards Stephanie. She was on a emotional roller coaster, ranging from hatred, sadness, depression, bitterness, and loathfullness. It wasn't until a few seconds later that she realized what she had said about James. She wanted so badly to retract her statement, but it wasn't the time. She couldn't go to Hogsmeade alone, so she needed someone to be there with her when she would see Stephanie all over Sirius. She decided to keep going with this, so she continued, "Of course! James and I are friends at Hogwarts and we just wanted to go together.." Then Claire decided to go for a low blow on Lily's part. "who knows what'll happen.." She said. This was not how Claire normally acted. She had never been one to stoop to everyone elses level when it came to dissagreements. However, this was different, this was personal.

Lily was completely shocked when Claire said those words. She had never seen a mean side to Claire, ever. She was a bit taken back by the sudden commotion. She was a tad confused as to why Claire was making such a big deal about this. It didn't really sink in that Lily had done a very bad thing, she was a bit oblivious to those sort of things. When Lily finally spoke, it was a calm and edgeless voice. "Well, thats great then. I hope you both have fun together." She said. As soon as she spoke, the reality of the situation was finally becoming clearer. She tried to look away from the group as tears began to well up in her eyes. She tried to shake them off, but they just kept coming. She did not know why Claire was being so mean to her for including a friend into ther plans. It seemed as though she was being punished for being a good person. The crying became noticable.

Stephanie, who was laughing on the inside, became aware that Lily was begining to cry. She gave a dirty look at Claire. "How could you do that Claire? You knew that she was going with James, and you just had to throw that in her face." She stood up, guiding Lily up too. "You think that you can get any guy you want, but you're so shallow that you can't see that you are hurting other people in the process." She directed at Claire. "Have fun with James." She then helped the crying Lily walk out of the great hall. She was taking her to the second floor bathroom, to let Lily cry it out. Everyone was looking at what just happened. As Stephanie was walking out with Lily, she couldn't help but feel pround. She stole Claire's guy and made her best friend turn against her. She couldn't wait to get in the bathroom and fill Lily's head with all of many negative thoughts about Claire. This was going to be the start of an amazing year.

Claire felt so disgusted, not at any one else but at herself. She couldn't beleive what she had just said to her best-friend, and now she hates her. But Claire didn't blame her. She hated herself right now too. Stephanie was like a disease that made everyone sick, but Lily always seemed to be the person that would love to not wash their hands. "You guys know I didn't mean that stuff right?" She said to them. One of the main reasons she became such good friends with Sirius and James is because she would hate to hang out with the other girls. They were always causing drama where there didn't need to be any. Everything was going to be perfect, and now this happened. She also couldn't shake off the fact that some of the things that Stephanie said were kind of true. It sucked to admit that though. "I really didn't mean for any of this to happen." She looked at them with hopeless eyes.

Quietly, James had made his way to Lily's side when she started to cry. One of the things that bothered James was girls, in general, crying. He could see it building from miles away. He wrapped his arm around her, he kissed her on the cheek as the water began to fall from her eyes. He wiped them off before he whispered kind words to her as she began to tear up. "Its okay, don't worry about it." He said, he was rather surprised at the natural feeling that this had. James was rubbing her arm with his hand, "You're the only one for me. She doesn't mean it." He was trying to get her calm. He pushed the hair from her face and behind her ear. Barely noticing that the other students were staring, they had stood up and Lily was unable to hide her tears.

Sirius was so relieved that Stephine had freed her grip. However, he was still rather upset with the outcome of the evening. He let out a big sigh. As the drama scene played out in front of him, plans started to rush in his mind. "I can ditch her at Hogsmead and switch with Taylor. He's always had a crush on her. Then I can get to Claire and push James with Lily." He smiled at his own deviousness. However he was suddenly pulled out of this thought at Stephine's words. "How could you do that Claire? You knew that she was going with James, and you just had to throw that in her face." She had said. "You think that you can get any guy you want, but you're so shallow that you can't see that you are hurting other people in the process." Sirius was outraged, looking over at Claire for a cue to yell back at her. He was surprised that she didn't say anything. "How can she just let that go?"

James let Stephine releave him of Lily, he didn't sit down. He just stared at the leaving backs of Stephine and Lily. His calm demeanor becoming unstable. "Claire?" He asked, when Lily and Stephine was out of ear shot. "That was a really low blow." He sat down where Lily had been sitting previously, his hand covering his face. "You guys know I didn't mean that stuff right?" She asked. James was unreadable for a few moments. Sirius said nothing, he just looked at her. He didn't even know what he was thinking, so his face was blank. "So, what are we going to do?" James asked ignoring her words. He lifted his head to face both of them, this revealed red eyes and an unstable appearance. Sirius could tell why he had been hiding his face now, he supposed that it was probably from stress. "Do?" Sirius asked, rather taken aback. "Yes, we have to deal with this problem to where everyone is happy." He rubbed his eyes, this hadn't been his plan at all. And when everything was so perfect. "I don't care if Stephine's happy. We just need to make this right." Sirius said. "Lily will care. We have to work it all out so she's still there. Oh, and-" He said, directing his next statement to Claire, "don't worry about it, Lily wasn't thinking. She wouldn't have done that if-" He stopped, looking over at Sirius.

"Well," Sirius said, starting where James left it hanging. "I had a thought. How about I get Taylor to switch with me? You know him, he's had a crush on her since first year." He smiled, "Then I can scoot over to Claire, and you can move to Lily and-" James looked at him, a smile appearing on his face. "That might work. What do you think Claire?"

Claire wanted to follow the girls to the bathroom, but she knew that it wouldn't go well. Stephanie would just block the door and not let her talk to Lily. She had no choice but to sit with the guys and sulk. Claire thought about the guy's plan and was immediately thrilled. "Yes! that will be great!" She exclaimed. She couldn't have been in a worse mood nearly a second ago, but now she was so excited for the Hogsmeade trip again. "We need to figure out a good place for all of us to go once we a away from her." Claire said with a scowl. It was so starnge being around Stephanie because everytime something drama-filled happens, there's a sense that Stephanie planned out the entire thing. Claire could not wait for this trip. The problem would be trying to make up with Lily. Lily would forgive her easily, but Claire knew that there would still be a bit of animosity between them for a little while.

Lily and Stephanie sat on the floor of the girls bathroom, talking. Lily had stopped crying a while ago, and was now disscussing with Stephanie what should be done next. "I'm not mad at Claire, I don't even know why I started crying. I just thought that she and Sirius could go some other time. They really are the perfect match." Lily said, then blew her nose in a tissue. Stephanie's skin crawled at the sound of Lily's words, and a bit of the phlem. "..But she didn't need to practically throw herself at James. Besides she will have other chances to go with him, but just not this one because he is my date." Stephanie said. Lily knew that Sirius wouldn't just take Stephanie whole heartedly, if at all.

Claire thought another moment and a kind of awkward idea popped into her mind. "Well, even if we did get rid of her, she could probably easily find us since we are in a group of four.." She said nervously. ".. So if we maybe split up and go seperately she would have a harder time finding all of us." She was a bit worried about this idea because if this worked out, then that ment that her and Sirus would be on an actual date, instead of them both being in one group. This kind of frightened her but made her even more excited if this all worked out. "and you and Lily would be free to do anything as well!" She added quickly to prevent a wierd silence.

After a little while, Lily and Stephanie then entered the great hall again. Lily was looking alot better, even cheerfull, while Stephanie looked inwardly peeved. They got to the table and Stephanie didn't even say a word to anyone else, but "See you on our date!" to Sirius, waved, then left to return to her table. Once Stephanie was out of her sight, she walked over and gave Claire a hug. Claire's shock was displayed on her face. When they sat down, they began to both speak at the same time to each other. They were talking so loud and fast that their words were irrecognizable. They hugged again, then faced the boys, ready to put it behind them.

Sirius smiled, he was glad that it didn't take much to convince her or it would have been hard to carry out. He glanced at James, who had replaced his palm to his face. James was tired, that much was obvious. "Hmmm..." Sirius hummed, thinking hard. No matter how hard he tried, all he could think of is where he would like to take Claire once they actually got on their "date." So it took a couple of minutes for him to come up with something. James seemed preoccupied, so it would be up to him and Claire to think of an idea. However, a thought struck Sirius. "I think that we should all meet up at different places. I think you're right, it'll be easy for this plan to fall apart if we stay in a big group."

Sirius blushed at her words, a little late, but sooner was better than never. "I was thinking about meeting up with you for a butterbeer." He said, addressing Claire, "Once I've ditched Steph, James could meet Lily at the Owl Post, and I could hook up Tyler and Stephine together on the outskirts of the Shrieking Shack." He smiled, impressed by his own plan. "So all in all, everyone will get what they want." He thought for a moment. "Maybe not everyone." He laughed, thinking about Stephine's face when she sees that she's been set up. "What do you guys think?"

"Sirius, I think that your genius is showing." James said, laughing into his palm. "You're coming up with all sorts of ideas! Remember that argument that we had last year? I think that I'd like to change my answer. If I were hanging over a steaming pot of lava and I had to pick between you or Peter, I'd pick you." Both Sirius and James started cracking up. "Well, there isn't much we can do until the day." James said, smiling again. He stopped talking abruptly, which was always a bad sign. When ever that happened it became obvious that someone was hiding something. But Lily didn't seem to mind as she walked up and surprised everyone by hugging Claire. Sirius smiled, glad that it seemed to be okay.

"See you on the date!" Sirius grimaced. "Uhuh." He mumbled, not watching her walk away, though he would have been happy to see the back of her. Sirius and James decided secretly that they would try to involve Lily as little as possible. If things went as planned, she wouldn't find out about what they had done until after the Hogsmead trip. Which would keep everyone happy until then. James hadn't said anything since Lily sat down, not sure of what to say. And Sirius kept silent because he couldn't think of anything to say that didn't have to do with the plan. When he and Claire locked gazes, he hoped that this idea would be sprung up in her thoughts as well.

"Thank you all for coming to yet another year at Hogwarts." Sirius and James jumped, they heard a squeal, which meant that Peter was surprised as well. They had almost completely forgotten about the Headmaster, and where they were. "Later this year we are going to have something special and will be a first in Hogwarts history. Unfortunately, I can't say what it is at this moment." Everyone groaned. "However," He continued, gathering everyone's attention again, "I will announce what it is when we draw nearer." He smiled, "Now, everyone sleep tonight, because you will have to get ready for your schooling." Everyone seemed to get up at his words. Random yawning was seen though the entire Great Hall as all of the students made their own ways to their common rooms.

[Don't take them straight there, I was thinking about doing something as they walk there. ^-^]

Claire was so close to bursting and telling Lily about their plan to get rid of Stephanie. As soon as she separated her lips, she caught Sirius' glance. She then realized that I would be best just to not talk about it at all. That would be so wierd if they were thinking the same thing! She brushed her blonde strands out of her face. This was going to be so much fun, Lily had no idea but she and James were finally going to get the date they deserved for so long. She then thought about her and Sirus' little outing. Well... Date. She was going to have to get use to that. Even thought this was so cliche, it almost seemed too good to be true. Ugh, she sounded like such a sap, but when it came to Sirius, she was.

Lily was a bit concerned by how silent the group was being. However, she really didn't have much time to start up anything because of the Headmaster's booming voice. It made her jump a bit. The way he was talking, it sounded like it was all going to be the same old- same old, but then the professor mentioned the special event. "What do you all think it is?" Lily wispered to all of her friends. She listened to the rest of the headmaster's speach then got up when he instructed them all to do so. She yawned and stretched when she stood. He was right, it had been a long day.

Lily and Claire both started wlking out of the great hall. Lily spead up to walk next to James, which left Claire to walk beside Sirius. Claire couldn't stop yawning as they all walked down the halls. They saw many of the first years looking up at the cieling, around at all the portraits, and even admiring the floor. Once you've been here a year, you've seen it all. Some girls even ran up to Claire, "Um, excuse me. Do you know where the Ravenclaw commonroom is?" Claire poitely told them exactly where to go and watched then run off. "Aww, there where so adorable, I hope I have a girl when I have children." She said, mostly to Lily. It was funny to see all of the students trying to go up the moving staircase at once. Over the years, the group has found many different secret passageway and rooms that were very practical and helpfull thanks to the Marauder's Map. However, now, they didn't even need it as much cause they pretty much had the school memorized. It was usefull when you needed to see where people where though.

It wasn't until they reached a portrait of an old man, did they stop to talk to it. "Well, what do you lot want?!?" The old man asked. Claire was the first one to speak. "Please, sir. We wish for you to open up so we can go up the stairs." She asked in a sweet voice. The reason they stopped at this particular painting was that behind him, was an emergency stair case, to be used in case of emergency. It emptied out into a closet on the 5th floor. The old man wasn't giving in. "No way, the head master gave me strict orders to never let anyone up these stairs." He said in a firm voice. "But you let us go up the stairs all the time last year, so why the sudden change?" Lily interjected. The old man meerly crossed his arms and turned his head away from the group. There was clearly no way of reasoning him.

Sirius smiled, glad that she didn't say anything to Lily. He sighed, things were getting out of hand here at Hogwarts. He couldn't lie and say that he hadn't been expecting drama like this, especially in their last year. "I dunno, he didn't sound too sure of himself. Maybe its a play or something. Oh well." He said, not that interested in the news. Everyone else seemed to be though, they were chattering excitedly through the halls. He almost tripped over a young first year girl that had come up to ask Claire a question. He smiled at her comment. "I guess, they are rather cute..." He was glad that James was just out of earshot as he blushed. "Hey, how do you know where the Ravenclaw room is?" Sirius asked, eying her suspiciously. He remembered a year when a "handsome" Ravenclaw boy had a crush on Claire. Sirius didn't get to him in time. He asked Claire out, he didn't even remember what she said.

James was like Sirius, not very interested in the news. It wasn't strange for something mysterious to happen. He was very oblivious to the chatter. He was so focused on listening to what Lily said, but no matter how he tried he couldn't stop smiling at everything she said. He was glad that she didn't take what Claire said to heart. He only looked away from her when he heard the portrait talk. "That's stupid!" He yelled. "How are we going to get to the common room?" James said, outraged. "Come on, we only ask for one more year of service." That was the wrong thing to say, the man glared heavily at him and started to walk out of the portrait. "Ah, come on!"

Sirius was mad as well, "Please? Just let us through. Just today? We came all this way. If we don't get to go through this hallway then we'll have to double back and we won't be able to get to the common room until midnight!" Sirius was exaggerating, well, just a bit. But it seemed to grab the man's attention. He turned back around a little so that he was facing them. Sirius whispered in Claire's ear softly. "Can you cry?" James had thought of the same thing as Sirius and did the same in lily's ear. "Can you cry?"

A loud chime echoed throughout the hallways and passageways indicating that it was soon time for curfew for all of the students. This sound sent chills down Claire's spine. She was so irritated at the portrait. She knew that that would definately be late if they walked all the way back to the stairwell, so this was their only chance of being on time. She was so focused towards the painting, but suddenly she felt a tingling sensation. There was a quick breath against her ear that sent a sense of warmth down her chilled and nervous body. She soon realized that it was Sirius who was against her. It took her a moment to catch up with his words, due to being completely caught off guard by his closeness. She then turned her head to face him, now void of any hint of pleasure from him. She merely winked at his idea, then turned back to look at the painting.

Lily, too, heard James' instructions and immediately went into schemeing mode. She started thinking about the events that played out no more than 45 minutes ago. She tried heard to dwell on the hurt that she felt at the time. She finally was able to find that emotion and turn them into real tears. Lily suddenly began to break down in tears. "P..Please, sir, we just need to use this stairwell once. This will be the only t..time, we swear." She sobbed. But the painting simply made an exagerated frowny face at Lily.

Lily then tried to take it up a notch. She tough that maybe if she somewhat informed about the situation, then he would let them pass. She turned to James and completely bursted. "Why would you lead us down here if you knew that this noble painting wouldn't let us pass." She screamed at him. THe painting seemed to give her his full attention. "And now, you have caused me to be out passed curfew, on our first night at Hogwarts!" She continued. The old man seemed to bit a bit more amused rather than sympathetic. He simply laughed at her hysterics and continued his firm decission on not letting them pass through the stairwell. Lily then whiped her eyes, "Sorry about that James." She giggled. She then turned around ready to double back to the moving staircase. She bgan to mentally prepare herself for what the prefects and teachers would say to them once they found out they were tardy.

Meanwhile, Claire was still trying to produce a tear. She watched off of Lily's beleivable performance and grimaced at the fact that the sour old man painting still, after all that, would not let them pass. Claire then realized that they would all be doomed if they ever came across a trool on a bridge. She giggled softly to herself. It had been a long day of traveling, and eating, so Claire was not looking forward to the walk back. She felt as though she was going to pass out. Just as Lily began to turn around, Claire lifted her arms over her head and arched her back to let out a very loud yawn. Once she did this, she heard a very faint grunting sound. She turned to see what made the noise, there was no one else there. Then she noticed that it was the painting, who seemed to be drooling at the sight of her. She was about to punch the painting and scream at him for being such a pig, but sahe then realized that she could use this to their advantage. "Wait up guys," She called to them. She then gave the painting a sad and pathetic look as she beagn to twirl her hair with her fingers. She stood with her feet inwards, to give her that innocent look, but the stuck out her chest a bit. Then in a sweet voice she spoke to the old man. "Can you please let us go through please. I really don't want to be late." Claire said, and gave a bit of a pout at the end.

The painting seemed to resond best to Claire and her ability to look as slutty as possible. "Oh, well I would never want YOU to be late!" The old man exclaimed. He then slid the frame over to the side, revieling a very narrow entrance to the spiral staircase. He gave Claire an arroused smile, but then looked at the rest of the group as though he was about to tell them that they could not pass. Claire was about to walk through the entrance till she stopped just before. "Can my friends come too, I really don't want to walk throught these hallways alone." She said in her sweet voice. The old man sighed, then motioned for the rest of the group to advance as well. Lily was quite impressed with Claire. This was strange for her because she would have normally looked down on her for acting too flirty. She was just glad now because she would be on time, all thanks to Claire.

Sirius didn't noticed the closeness till he started to pull back. He hadn't meant to, but he had put his hand on her shoulder when he whispered his instructions. He was glad that the portrait was distracted with Lily's acting, otherwise he would have been staring at Claire. Which he had been doing since they arrived there. Sirius refused to ask Claire to lower herself to the man's level, he didn't want other guys to look at her like that. With lust in every part of his eyes. He moved back, he tried not to be too quick, but it was difficult. After a minute or two he realized how stupid he must look, his arms hanging at his side with nothing to do and his back straight as a board. He sighed, they didn't need more problems, and this guy didn't seem to have an emotional string in his heart.

When Lily began to act, swelling up some fake tears, James wrapped his arms around her acting protective. But the way he held her looked comforting, but still allowed her face to be shown. As she begged, James tried to look outraged, trying to look like he blamed the portrait for making his girlfriend cry. Something happened that he hadn't planned, nor had Lily. The man was laughing at it, this guy was heartless. "Look what you did!" James said, and just as he said that, his expression went from outrage to surprise. "Wha?" He was knocked off balance a little and he removed his hands immediately when Lily started screaming at him. He backed away, holding his hands up for defense. "I-i didn't know!" He muttered, still taken aback, he didn't know it was all a ploy. "I-sorry..." He said, watching her calm down slightly. James didn't put down his hands until she walked by him and apologized. Immediately he understood what happened and laughed to himself. It was shaky. "Uh, yeah. No problem." He made to follow her when he heard the portrait.

Sirius's eyes followed the portraits, his eyebrows burrowed as he scowled at the portrait. The look in the guy's eyes didn't make him feel comfortable. He was surprised and outraged at the same time when Claire used it to her advantage. The thought that she'd be flirting with this guy made him want to scream. But it was only this one time, he refused to come down here again. It didn't matter that this wasn't a real man, just a painting, he didn't even want her flirting with anyone but him. But he was still oblivious to when she was. However, he told himself off when Claire stretched. When Claire wasn't looking at him he had sneaked a peak too.

After the drama Sirius and the others walked through the hallway and when they were finally out of ear shot, he muttered, "Pig." As the door closed behind him. James smiled at Claire, "Good thinking, never would have thought that was the way through." He said, but his smile quickly vanished when he caught the look on Sirius' face. James and Sirius took to walking side by side, Claire and Lily moved back together. "I'd have rather been late." Sirius muttered to James. "I wouldn't have. Did you see the way that Lily was acting? And that was just at the thought of it. I wouldn't want to see my life end, just yet." Sirius snickered at James. "That was all an act, James." James blushed. "I know, but she had to get the thought from somewhere..." The two of them were silent as they made their way to the common room. "Fish trout." James said, "Heard it from the prefect as we were walking through the hall." The fat lady let them pass as they all clambered into the common room.

It was nice and warm as they entered, everyone had already went to sleep by this time. The armchairs by the fire looked inviting as James looked around. The tables were clear and the special Hogsmead trip was still posted on the bulletin next to the portrait hole. In the corner the fire was dying and Sirius thought he heard an houself wandering inside. "Good job mate!" He said, a squeak was heard and he could tell it was a happy one. "See the two of you in the morning." He said to Claire and Lily. James smiled, both Sirius and James would probably sleep in. "Night Lily. Night Claire." Sirius started to climb the staircase to the dormitory, but stopped to wait for James. James was standing at the bottom, and Sirius came back down. James was waiting for a moment, hoping that Lily might do something unusual. Maybe a kiss?

After the whole "Flirting with the Painting" fiasco, the grop made their way up the staircase. Claire and Lily spoke to one another as they walked together, a bit soft though so that the boys couldn't hear them. Claire was a bit nervous about what she was about to say, hoping that Lily wouldn't notice how blunt Claire was being. "That was really sweet of James to comfort you after everything that happened tonight." Claire was hoping that some of this was sinking in. Claire did have to make up to both Lily and James for what she said tonight. "I'm really sorry for anything I might have put in your mind about James and I. I didn't mean anything I said, and James was by your side throughout the entire ordeal..." Claire said, looking at Lily to see if there was any type of reaction. Lily was just thinking. She had feelings for James for a very long time now, and she knew that the feeling was mutual. This almost made her see James in a different light. On the train ride here, she remembered him being so awkward about comforting her, but now, in just a matter of hours, he was like a pro. Almost like the knight in shining armour that she has dreamed of since she was little, always there when she needed him, no matter what. Claire and Lily continued on. They let the boys say the password to the fat lady, who was more accepting than the old man.

Once Claire and Lily returned to the common room with James and Sirius, they were both completely entranced by how warm it was in there. Claire wished to sit in the chairs and couches to just stay up and talk with everyone, well one person in perticular. She then realized that everyone was way too tired for anyone to stay up for more than a few minutes. Claire let out another yawn, not as exagerated as the one earlier. Claire looked over at Lily, who seemed to be in deep thought. Claire wished that she was considering all that she had told her on the walk over here. Claire heard Sirius say goodnight and walk upstairs to the boys dormitories. "Good night Sirius." She said sweetly, she hoped for a bit of a less casual goodnight. Claire was about to say goodnight to James, but then noticed how somber he looked at the foot of the staircase. She quickly glanced over at Lily and smiled to herself.

She then saw Sirius come back down the stairs. Idiot, she yelled in her mind. She then walked over to him, smiling to James and Lily as she passed them. As she stood next to him, she gracefully tucked her hand on the inside of his elbow, as if he was escorting her. Once she turned around with him, she grabbed his arm tightly and pulled him up the stairs. Once they reached the top, she let go and hit his right arm. "Why did you come back down? Couldn't you see what was going to happen?" Claire whispered violently. If Lily had seen him, she knew that Lily would have gone straight to bed. She then calmed down in that regard. Claire then laughed quietly. "And please don't ever go on a date with Stephanie, at least on purpose. This hogsmeade trip is the only exception." Claire then went to give Sirius a hug, to say goodnight. The top of her head came right under Sirius' chin. She wrapped her arms around his body. She then let go, and started making her way to her own room. "Night." She spoke sweetly.

Lily ways a bit nervous, now that Claire had left the room. Ugh, she just wished that she had some of Claire's ability with guys. The only guy that she was ever involved with was James, and they had never kissed before so this was all new. She didn't even know what she was doing as she walked over to him slowly. As she walked, her mind began to race, Where was this going? Whould they start dating? What would happen if they broke up? Finally, she flushed it all out of her mind, realizing that she was going to kiss him and she would deal with the conciquences later. Once she got over to him all she could say was, "Hey.." awkwardly. Nothing about this situation seemed like she could simply walk around him without doing something. Standing right in front of her was her best friend, her protector, her maybe soon-to-be-boyfriend. She knew that this was the start of something, which made her tremble a bit. It was almost like an out of body experience as she gently touched his fingertips once she moved in closer to him. "Some first day huh.." She said just as awkward, but a bit softer. There was a bit of a pause, then she continued. She began to move in even slower, closer and closer to his face, his lips. With her own slightly parted, she was now milimeters away. With her own, she pressed against his lips. Her fingers then became laced with his, as she opened her lips a bit to slide her tongue through. She knew that thy would never be the same after this.

Sirius allowed himself to be pulled up the stairs again with Claire. For the moment, he liked that their arms were interlocked at least until he caught the look on her face. He was surprised at the look in Claire's eyes. "What?" Defiance written in his voice as she steered him to the corner, out of sight from James and Lily. "Why did you come back down? Couldn't you see what was going to happen?" Sirius grimaced, he didn't come down to ruin anything for his best mate. He had went down because he wanted to see if he could move a little farther down the path of a relationship with Claire. "Well... I..." He stuttered, rubbing his arm, nervous and embarrassed of himself. However, when she said that he couldn't date Stephine, a chuckle came from his lips. "Please, I wouldn't date her of my own accord. I dislike her with a passion. Did you know that she tried to make me jealous? That little witch." He muttered the ending, but smiled anyway. Sirius was confused for a moment when she hugged him. Once he realized what was happening, he held her close in their embrace, holding her tight and resting his chin on her head. He could just smell her hair and it filled him like drink. After they let go, Sirius and Claire stared at each other for moments. He wanted to kiss her, but knew that their "date" wasn't even a date. It had to be voiced. Instead, he'd ask a simple question. "Wait." He held out his hand to stop her from leaving. "Do you.. I mean... want to make the Hogsmead trip, when I ditch her obviously," He swallowed. "a date?" When he let it slip from his mouth, he couldn't breathe anymore. It was caught up, he didn't start to breath until she answered.

James didn't move when Claire left the room. It was awkward with just the two of them in the room, alone. He couldn't believe that he was for once at a loss for words, and his brain was completely blank. "Do I moved? Yes, but how?!" He didn't know what to say, or how he should move. Sure that he would ruin whatever they had going on between them here with a single breath. His arms lay limply at his side, useless. He could feel that they were there, but couldn't find anything to do with them. Behind his back? In front? Leave them? James wondered if she could hear the noises in his brain from over thinking. "Hey..." He replied to her, feebly. His hand had moved without his consent up to where he showed her his palm in a hello gesture. It fell back down immediately, he was embarrassed that he had done that. He wanted to look away, but he didn't Lily's eyes were putting him in a trance. His other hand came to life, again moving of its own accord, at her touch. "Yeah..." He replied, more awkwardly then Lily had. He felt the tension oose when he realized what was going on. He smiled at her, he suddenly knew what to do and feel. As she neared him, he didn't move, but stood still to allow her to continue.

His other hand rubbed her arm as they kissed, he allowed his hand to be laced with hers and began to kiss like a pro. His eyes and hers were closed as they continued to kiss. He was wondering when they would need to take a breath, but it seemed like they didn't need it. James was so happy that he was finally able to kiss the girl that had been in his dreams every night for two years. Finally they parted, James smiled on the outside, but was sad that they were finished. It became awkward for him again, he wasn't sure what he should do now. Did he say something? Did she? Do they just walk away? His hand was still laced with hers, something that he didn't want to end.

Claire definately thought that her night with Sirius, but then he decided to drop a huge bomb on her. She was startled at first by his question, freezing where she stood. Claire was a bit in shock. It wasn't like either of them to say anything about "dating" each other without teasing. Claire slowly turned around. She half-expected Sirius to be standing there with a huge grin on his face, but instead of a joking expression, there was a very serious face. Why was it that it was so easy to flirt with Sirius and joke about going on a date, but so hard for her to actually settle down with him to be in a commited relationship. Or at least come to terms with the fact that that was what she wanted. She didn't want to walk any closer to him, knowing what might happen if she did. "......" She opened her moutht to speak, but it was hard for her to think of what to say, let alone speak it. She wanted to run over to him, hug him, kiss him. She now knew how he felt about her. As much as she wanted to leap into his arms and have him take her away, she knew that now wasn't the right time. The hug she had previously given him would have to do. She was finally gaining her confidence to speak. "I would love that.." She said quietly. She looked into his eyes, not wanting to go into her room just yet, but she had to. "I'll see you in the morning Sirius.." She spoke sweetly, looking forward to that time. Claire then smiled at him, then turned aroundto head back to her set of rooms. Once at the top of the staircase leading to the girls rooms, she looked back at him, then opened the door and walked inside and closed the door behind her. Once inside, Claire couldn't stop blushing.

Once they stopped, Lily eased up on the closeness of their heads. Even though they stopped kissing, she still wanted to be held by James for the entire night, not wanting him to let go. She continued to stare into his eyes. "Sorry for such a long wait.." She whispered. She knew that this kiss had been awated by both sides for a long time. Lily then leaned forward a bit to kiss James on his cheek. She pulled back once more with a very bright smile on her face. This was only her first day back at hogwats and she had already made out with the man of her dreams. "Well James, I guess it's time for me to retire. I'll see you in the morning..." She whispered. Lily then detached herself from James, which was alot harder for her to do than she thought. She managed to make it up the stairs quietly enough, without showing to much excitement. She couldn't wait to tell Claire everything that had happened.

Once Lily made it up to her room, she slowly opened the door. She closed it without a noise, then ran over to Claire's bed. She was so excited that she jumped onto the bed and onto Claire who had passed out the moment she laid down. Claire awoke and was about to start screaming, which was normal, but Claire quickly put her hand over her mouth. Claire then sat up on her bed, still a bit bewildered as to what was happening. Lily scooted over so that she was sitting across from her. Claire then began to realize what was happening. "What happened downstairs?" Claire whispered with excitement, still trying not to wake up their room mates. Lily blushed and whispered. "we kissed!" They both began to quietly squeel to each other. "It's about time!" Claire whispered, giving her a slight push. Lily was about to say something about Claire and Sirius finally getting serious, but knew that that was a 50-50 chance of either being good or bad. "I know! It was so amazing and he is such a good kisser." Lily said dreamily. She tried to continue this conversation to spare Claire's feelings. Claire could tell her what happened between them whenever she wanted, but for now Lily just decided that that was just that. Between them, so she should be so nosy. "So whats going to happen tomorrow? Are you guys pretty much a couple now?" Claire asked, still interested in the conversation. Lily hesitated, still unsure. "Well I hope something does happen cause that better not have been for nothing." Lily said with a bit of humor, but still some truth. They then said their goodnight's to each other as Lily got off of Claire's bed and onto her own. Then they both quickly fell asleep, egar to make follow up on everything that had transpired that day, and night.

"Night." He said, feebly as he watched her go into the room. For a couple of minutes his mind was blank, he couldn't think. Sirius couldn't believe that he'd just said that. He was happy that he had, of course, but it was still amazing that he did. He stood still for a while, staring at the door that led to her dormitory. His dark black eyes only moved from the spot when he heard Lily talking. "Crap. I got to move!" He didn't want Lily to think that he'd been eavesdropping so he quickly turned the corner when he saw the top of her head starting to come up. She didn't seem to see him, as she was staring at James. But when she turned to look for the door, Sirius noticed a funny look on her face as he watched her enter the dormitory room. He caught another look of Claire before the door closed. Sirius sighed. "That was too close." But not even that could damper his spirits. "James seemed to have gotten to first base, and I'm heading for the batting cage." He chuckled before sliding to the ground, it had been a long and tiring day. After a minute he stood and began to make his way up, he and James wouldn't be talking much tonight. It wasn't like them to brag or talk about what just happened.

James smiled shyly at her as she climbed the staircase and entered the dormitory. His smile disappeared to a look of accomplishment and proudness. "Yes!" He said, rather loudly. "I've been wanting to do that for four years!" He quickly ran up the stairs, trying not to be too loud as he rushed into the boy's dormitory. His smile and his proud demeanor disappear as he entered the room. "Heya Sirius." James said as he walked to his bed post. He didn't want to seem stupid, he looked around. Remus and Peter had fallen asleep as well as Patrick and Logan. "We must have taken a long time." He said, blushing when he knew that Sirius couldn't see him. "Good job." He heard Sirius say in a muffled voice. Sirius was putting on his pajamas. "For what?" James replied, wonderingly. "For showing Lily that you're more than a joker." He heard Peter's bed shuffle a little. Sirius scowled at it before continuing to undress and dress into his pajamas. James quickly did the same. "Did you ask Claire there as a date? Or is she still oblivious?" James asked, climbing into bed.

The look on Sirius face told James that he had indeed told her. James smiled. "Glad for you." Sirius chuckled. "'Glad for you' I should be saying that. You finally got to step one." Immediately James seemed to understand what Sirius meant. "And you? You asked out the girl you'd been hounding for years. Wait till everyone sees you going out. You know, a date means you get to do all the things that girls dream that guys would do." Sirius looked over, plopping onto the bed. "Then I guess we'll have to be their dream guys." James chuckled, "It's hard to tell when you're serious." They both settled in their beds and closed the curtains. For once, it was an end to a perfect day.
