I had the Heart running on IRC for a long time without proper maps and descriptions of its various rooms and features, despite having a fairly clear idea of how it was laid out due to certain events surrounding the channel in the past few years that I won't go into.

I don't want it to go undescribed any longer, so I'm working on just that, which is why the opening is so delayed. I'm sorry.

Its previous owners "described" it as just your basic two-story cubic wooden structure with ridiculously simplistic features like the typical rafters and a fireplace and a bar and yadda-yadda, with no real consideration put into it. That was to change when it was handed down to me [had a new building constructed, closed and boarded up the ugly old one] but things went awry and the place has been fairly quiet for some time.

Now, though, it will be three stories tall, have half a basement and broad grounds, and will be furnished with a couple things you probably wouldn't expect in your typical medeival fantasy role-play setting. It's taking some adjustments to get things to seem proportional, but in the end the maps will probably end up being a bit of a rough representation since I'm not an architect and I'm really not any good with my architectural CAD software. I had hoped to do it in proper architectural fashion so I could take shots of the interior from a patron's point of view, but I'm afraid it just proved to be beyond me.

I'm having to do it in flat overhead view without much in the way of pretty details. Descriptive words will have to suffice.

I know some of you are looking forward to the proper opening, and I am too, so I do feel bad that I don't have a lot of time to just pump the last of this stuff out.

In the end, I'm going to make a thread just for the maps and descriptions since I intend to make images that can be clicked on, like Mahayr's quest map graphic, linking to the various posts depending which rooms or floors you click on in the images.

This branching ought to be done right. I think the Heart deserves it after these few years of virtual inactivity.

Mahayr won't be on here tonight, since I asked her to allow me time to work on this.

I have one of the most recent versions of Chief Architect. Ridiculously expensive little piece of software, but it delivers in spades in every way. I just don't have the training or patience to figure it out. I've tried 3D softwares, but I'm just a 2D graphic artist at heart.

Yeah, I wanted to say I'd already made changes in my scratch file that I just haven't posted yet. I can't say what the changes are because I don't remember, but I think it's mostly aesthetic, like fitting the post-end quotes within a smaller space and such. I may have also made some small changes to wording and content. Sorry. :\

We now have another Windows XP disk, so I can pick up where I was so violently dumped when mine vanished with not the slightest amount of plausibility. It defies comprehension. Unfortunately, this means the Heart maps will have to wait a little longer while I get both our computers running. I've been without my own for over a month and it's been fraying my nerves.

Updating also tends to take a while. Do Heart maps lead to different threads in the guild? This would be interesting, but we also will have empty rooms at some point. =/
