Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? A bit of both. I remembered a story I heard as a kid, and I'm 90% sure it was from one of the "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" books - which are based off urban legends. So I went looking for it online and wasn't able to find the version I heard as a child, but the origin of the legend is from "The Song of the Wise Oleg" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleg_of_Novgorod). So I've rewritten the urban legend I heard as a child in my own words.

Title of Legend: The Prophecy of the Horse

Legend Details: Once upon a time, many years ago, there was a teenage boy and his loving, dedicated horse. He lived in the country, and by all accounts was a good boy. One summer he rode his horse to the state fair. He was enamored with all the sights and sounds...all the smells and tastes and the music... he fell in love. Getting caught up in the atmosphere of the faire, the boy went to a fortune teller. The fortune teller reads his cards and his palm, and gave him a very chilling prophecy: he would find his death one day by means of his beloved horse.

The boy was horrified. As much as he loved his pony, he was also a very superstitious boy and the words of the old fortune teller lady never left his mind. He rode his horse home, and the whole time he was in a cold sweat: terrified he would get thrown at any moment and be killed. For several days he tried just to forget what the fortune teller told him, but it wouldn't leave his thoughts. Finally he made the hardest decision of his life: he gave his horse away to a family a few farms away.

Well the years went by, and the boy went off to college and made a life for himself in the city. One day, he decided to take his wife and kids back to his family's farm and show them where he grew up. While in the area, he went back to the family he gave his beloved childhood pet too and asked what happened to him. The family told him the horse had died some time ago, but his bones still lay behind the barn. The boy (now a man) nodded and asked if he could pay his respects; the family agreed and the man went back to look for the bones.

He found them laying under an old apple tree... bleached white by the sun. The man felt the tears well up in his eyes as he walked over...all the crushing guilt and sadness sweeping over him again. He knelt by the remains and placed his hands on the skull. At that moment, a deadly rattlesnake slithered out of the hollow skull and bit the man on the hand. He died before anyone could find him and help him.

Comments: Okay, so I suck at design/drawing, so here's the basic idea. Mindsend, if I happened to win I would totally be okay with lots of artistic liberty. But the horse should look like a desiccated corpse - not a complete skeleton of course, but should have the pallor of a diseased or dead animal. A few black, bone-like markings on his chest and spine. His eyes and eye whites are black, giving him the appearance of having no eyes. His hair is stringy and sparse like a corpse. At his feet lay a spread of tattered, old tarot cards. And wrapped around him, almost possessively, is a huge, demonic rattlesnake. This is the image I'm 99.9% sure went with the story from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I love the atmosphere of it... for maybe the hair or other environmental inspirations.

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? kinda exsisting, but somewhat my own?

Title of Legend: Paranormal activity (demon haunting)

Legend Details: he is based off of the Demon in the movie Paranormal activity. he links himself with a human and haunts them throughout their life. many people have lived their whole life without noticing his presence. though there are those few paranormally sensitive people who notice him, some choose to try and ignore it, others try and provoke him into action. if provoked he can be deadly. signs of his presence can be as small as light breathing on your neck or misplaced items, to as noticeable as thumps in the night to moving furniture, or even physical attacks on your body.

Comments: i thought of the movie when i saw his feet and remembered the powdered foot prints on the floor. sorry about the poor pic quality, my only method available is photobucket XD so a quick explanation. his foot has flames surrounding it, its how he sets the house on fire. there is rope wrapped around his tail, and wrapped in the rope is the pictures of his victims, like how in the movie they find the picture in the attic. he has jagged teeth, think of the bite wound the girl gets. i added a few extra red markings on his back leg and tail. his hair is kinda self explanatory, the front half is long and drops around his face (not covering his eye though) and the back half is shorter and black, and goes down his back. his hair is kind of crazy and messy. maybe , if you think it wouls look better, just have the fire coming off of his claws on that one foot, whatever you think looks best.

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? New (Semi based off the horse from ghost rider..)

Title of Legend: Inferno Horse

Legend Details: You never want to see the Infreno horse ever.. Worse then the hounds of hell.. there has only been one and will only ever be one. It can never die.. No one knows why it lives its not even alive its half of what it was when it was alive. It burns and crackles if you hear it run for your life.. if you hear it will find you it will get you. It knows it the ultimate monster.. I would not even call it that! Its a beast of the worst kind! The inferno horse will eat you and your Soul it does not care...It has had many masters in this life and before but all it wants to do is track you down and curse you for a life in flames.. You soul is gone and all thats left is a shell of a person.. A person who wants revenge much worse than a demon they can never die.

Comments: I was inspired to make my own legend and this was just the thing. The idea of an undead demon horse is cool to me. I mean when i saw the one in ghost rider i was like.. FLAMER! It should be called flamer! So now i have a chance to express myself and come up with this idea i just love so much!

Also was not sure if the flames on his legs would be allowed but i draw them anyways because his feet are on fire

oh ya forgot to say the gray stuff that looks like smuge marks is smoke coming from his nose

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? I totally invented this c: At least I didn't see anything like it.

Title of Legend: Skull Snatcher

Legend Details: There are screams that can be heard from the forest. Piercing screams that sound different each day. The rumors state it's from a terrifying monster. One that causes any thing to stare into his eyes to become paralyzed... He is said to take advantage of this, and move close to carefully peel away the debris from the precious skull. When he's done, he pulls the bones, and dumps out it's contents... Just leaving the body behind, as well as the brains and muscles that were peeled off. They say he collects a skull of each animal, and if it becomes dirty or breaks, he'll move out to replace it. It is impossible to escape, at least.. escape without your skull that is.. hehehe...

Comments: This rumor began because people heard screams from the forest, and when they went to investigate, they found those remains. Also, the skull he's wearing is the very first one he collected, it's supposed to be a giant skull bigger than his own head, and one that he stole from a dragon. He found the dragon dead, it's skull already stripped and thus he took it with curiosity. ( His design was just quickly though up so that their maybe a image to reference )

Title of Legend: Curse of the Dead Cat

Legend Details:

They are cute, fluffy and lovable, but what we don't know is that they can be vengeful.
However these are on rare occasions as you see the animal or cat shall I say will had to off been mistreated, other wise the cat goes on to enjoy cat heaven.

In this legend there was one cat who had been severely mistreated by its owners,at first he was a happy cat enjoying life to its fullest, sleeping on the couch and doing anything he wanted.
Things soon changed for him as some months went by,his owners began to rarely notice him and neglected to feed or water him,he soon became depressed.
One day when his owners had come home he went up to them and meowed for attention or maybe some food, but that only bothered them and they pushed him out of the way, later he tried to jump on to the bed,but they pushed him off and he hit his head on the floor.
He left them alone and went back to the living room to sleep some more,he knew he wasnt going to get food or water and he was really thirsty and hungry,he was also very lonely and angry at his owners now for they are doing to him.

So that night he vowed to seek revenge one day if they didnt start treating him better.
Well things got even worse and they became more abusive to him,no one really knows why they were being like this or why they didnt give him to some one else,as he did deserve a better home now and a second chance.
Well that second chance never happened and he eventually died of abuse and neglect. The owners found his body and burried him out back, little did they know of the Dead Cats Curse.
He came back as a ghost cat and did exactly as he vowed to do,he sought revenge on his owners nine months after he had died.At first he just haunted the house and then progressively made things get worse, once the nine months came, his curse was complete and he went off to live in kitty heaven, satisfied that his old owners can no longer hurt another cat like they did him.

To this day the Curse of the Dead cat is still around and waiting for its next victim.Even if it is from a different cat.

Comments: I randomly thought this up one night driving home for the gypsy game, but decided to use it in here.
The idea came to my mind as I was watching an asian horror movie one day and one of the characters mentions something about how cats have souls and can take revenge or some thing like that.so this is how my entry came to be.

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? One I invented, based on something real that happened to me.

Title of Legend: The Legend of the Drowned teddy

Legend Details:
This legend is based on a true story that happened to me only a couple months ago. The legend part is something I made up to match what happened and is in no way true.

The Legend:
A lake side park where children often play during the day, at night is haunted by one of the very kids who used to play there. At this particular park, it is said that on certain warm inviting nights, after the park has closed, a drowned child haunts the park. It's said that if you go to this park on a warm night, you may find a child's toy laying abandoned by the playground or by the water's edge. The toy is a white bear with a red ribbon. Usually it is wet, soaked with water. It is said that you might also see a strange glowing blue light out on the lake, or just under the surface of the water. Others have reported that it also may get suddenly very cold after seeing the blue light.

Rumor has it that there was a little boy named Sebastian who lived in the area. His parents often took him to this park. One night when his parents were fighting, he got so upset and couldn't sleep that he decided to sneak out and run away with his teddy bear. His parents lived close to the park so he rode his bike to there. While playing, he saw some light out on the lake and went to see what it was. Some people say it was the ghost of a drowned woman who haunted the lake and she missed her own children so she had called Sebastian into the water to come to her. Some say she pulled him in and drowned him. Others say that the kid was just dumb and fell in on his own. Either way, he drowned and took his teddy with him.

Story the Legend is based on:
My boyfriend and I had been driving around at night, not really heading anywhere in particular. We often drove around for fun because we could talk and stuff and there weren't many places to go to be alone at night out of the house. Anyways, he was telling me about how early in the summer he had gone to a park with someone after the park was supposed to be closed. And how while they were there, a cop came up and he thought they'd be kicked out but the cop was just checking on them and was nice and didn't tell them to leave or anything.

So I said that we should go to the park tonight and maybe we won't get kicked out. It was nice and warm out anyways, perfect night for going to a park late night. So we went there and though there was a gate to block the entrance, it wasn't blocked off even though the park was clearly supposed to be closed. We went and parked and I got this really weird feeling. Like really nervous and scared. But I figured it was just because we were going into a deserted park alone at night. This parked was on the lake, there were many other parks around this area on the lake but this one had a playground really close to the lake and you could see the water easily. (The lake in where we live is really long and goes for miles and seems like a river, but it's actually a lake)

We decided to go sit on the playground equipment, and I'm generally playful so I wanted to play on it. As I went to climb up to get to the slide, I saw a stuffed animal laying on the ground by the steps to the playground. It looked like one of those fluffy white bears with the red ribbon around the neck that you see often in stores. I bent down to get it and my boyfriend stopped me and was like, "Don't touch that. It's dirty and wet and you don't know where it's been." He said it kind of joking, but it was true, it was soaked. He touched it with his foot and I could tell it was soggy and soaked with water.

I continued onto the playground equipment and went down the slide and we were generally being silly. Then we went and sat on the swings to talk. The swings face the lake and I was on the left side of my boyfriend, so to look at him I was facing to the right. As we were talking, I happened to glance out over the lake, and something glowing caught my eye. I went to look for it again but I couldn't find it. I ignored it for the time, thinking it might have been my eyes. You know when you look at a bright light then the image is kind of imprinted on your eyes for a while. But then it happened again, I noticed something glowing out on the lake and this time I told my boyfriend and he saw it too.

We went out to the water's edge to see what it was, but all I could see was a blue glowing light. To me it looked like it was actually under the surface of the water, but my boyfriend said it must be something floating on top. We watched it for a while until I started shivering and my boyfriend noticed I was cold. We both then realized that it had suddenly gotten a lot colder than it had been, even though it had only been a few minutes we were standing there. I was really creeped out by it, but my boyfriend wasn't bothered. He said it was because we had stopped moving and it was getting colder because it was so late. We decided to leave anyways, so we went back to the swings to get my purse. As we were leaving, we walked by where the bear had been when we came in, but I couldn't find it. I knew exactly where it had been, but it wasn't there anymore. It had disappeared, but I'm positive there was no one else in the park with us.

Comments: The cloak thing is actually the jacket of the little boy. He's like a hybrid of the boy and the bear. With the blue light haunting him.
I may actually make the picture prettier later if I have time

Title of Legend: Spiders in hair

Legend Details: Link

Comments: Halfway through this I looked through the entries and saw that there was already one based off the legend. My bad. O_o

In case my model wasn't clear, some written descriptions:

-Wild and windy hair split into 8 strands. Curls at the end and each strand has a red bead.
-Black back and face
-Four pairs of red eyes
-Long wicked teeth with blood on them
-Red black widow marking on his back
-Light cyan ghostly spiders on his head and front legs. The most important spider is the one hanging from his horn cause it's all like wheeeee.
-Patches of black cobweb on his front legs and tail
-Spaded tail
-*not sure if it's allowed or not* Two pairs of ghostly spider legs on his back. So now he has 8 legs like a spider, yah?

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? It is existing...but I can't remember parts of it, so I made bits up ^^;

Title of Legend: Uh...The String (because Julie was like 7 when she read this and does not remember. Sorry!)

Legend Details: [I'm paraphrasing/writing what I remember and filling in the rest, just by the way.]

There once was a young man, who met a young woman--one wouldn't think a happy marriage, the happiest of days, would be the start of this sad tale.
There had been much fuss and to-do over his wedding, and the young man didn't mind that so much, because he was marrying the woman of his dreams. She was smart, funny, and best of all, she loved him. For that, above all, he loved her. Their wedding day came and went, and it was the happiest day of his life.

However, this young man had a secret, a secret he dared not speak to of anyone: including his young wife. Around his neck rested--rather, squeezed--a thin red ribbon, tied in a bow at the front. His wife asked him over and over again why it was there, but every time, he adamantly refused to tell her and asked her to drop it.

This young woman had a secret as well, a secret she had managed to hide from her young husband: she was the jealous sort. Her mind was prone to crazed fantasies--if he wasn't home when he was supposed to be, she assumed he was with another woman. If he had a business conference, she assumed it was a cover to visit his Other Family. She had thousands and thousands of possibilities, and over the years, they all started spilling out.

The last and final straw was one day, after a long, long fight, she asked him again what the ribbon on his neck was about. Again, he refused her.

She couldn't take it. She charged, sharp nails aimed at this throat.

The ribbon fell to the ground. As did his head. His wife let out an anguished scream as her husband's blood splashed her hands--they found her dead the next day.

What they did not find was her husband's body--poor Fidele and his red ribbon had been cursed to not be killed that easily. He put his head back on his shoulders and tied the ribbon, blinking as he looked around. He saw his wife there, hanging limp in their bedroom, and he ran, black tears streaming down his white face.

((Uhm, so, that was obviously as if they were humans...use your imagination for if they were Soqs? XD))

Comments:
1 = Hair--can be longer than the ref image; braids would be awesome.
2 = Ribbon. Obviously important--the thing that's keeping his head on straight (literally).
3 = various ribbons he's found over the years. Only the one on his tail is actually keeping his tail on--the others are to attract less attention.
4 = the (wilted) carnation he wore/had at his wedding.
5 = his wedding ring.

Again, pretend those last two are Soq-equivalent. I don't know. XD

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my rendition of it <3 I hope it was spoooooky enough for you (it certainly was when I was little!). Happy Halloween~

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? I have invented this.

Title of Legend: Curse’s Curse

Legend Details: (either link to or write up your new legend's story)
You may not believe in curses, but Curse does. He has had one on him longer than he can remember now. No longer can he stand the touch of day. The curse forces him to walk only by night. So every night he wanders, seeking the one who laid the curse on him.
Anyone who looks remotely similar is a potential target. He believes if he catches a victim then the curse will transfer to them and leave him free. When he fails his tail lashes in anger.

Only on one specific day does the curse lift. All hallows day he is able to see the sun for the first time that year. Rumors say that there is a way to free him from the curse on this day, but to try is death. Curse never has to travel alone. The calls of the dead echo around him as spirits keep him company. Some say, once he was able to speak like you and me. But the spirits summoned by the curse have driven him mad; any word that may have been uttered is turned into howls and snarls.

Comments: Changes made in green for visibility.
Ghostly essences swirl around legs.
Scars/healing/fresh cuts on back legs and flanks. Fresh oozing blood.
2 rows of runes down belly that are the symbol of his curse
Spikes along back, one broken and bleeding
Cluster of sharp objects strapped to the end of his tail as shown that whip flanks bloody.
Face twisted into snarl – I can’t draw it. sad
Hair length at colorist discretion. Can be longer than drawn.

Title of Legend: Bloodquill

Legend Details: There was once a common Soquili who had fallen in love with a beautiful Angeni, she was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen before. He tried to woe her with flowers and gifts, but he was not the only one and being nothing but a common he was ignored. Not wishing to give up the male searched for something only he could do, and then he decided what of writing to her and not showing himself? She would not see how plain he was compared to her other suitors, but she would get to still get unique gifts from him! So he set to write letter after letter to her, only his letters to were ignored. He found out through rumors the ink was so plain, it was like all other inks and so it was pushed away without being read.

It was then the young male felt sorrow, how could he find a better looking ink? So in the end he tried to make his own, berries plants everything he could think of yet none worked. So it was one day walking he saw a new born Uni lying and sleeping in the tall grass that grew thickly in the bowl like meadow. The foal must have just been born, its body covered in blood and the birthing skin. He did not see the mother, however he saw blood. Bright red and shining, it was like no color he had seen before. Blood, he would use this to get her attention! It was beautiful, and he could mix it with ink to show a color no one had ever seen before!

Quickly moving he shoved the little white male to his feet, a small horn still soft from birth. Quickly he moved the colt home and then grinning he bit the white hide of the foal and watched and blood fell and the colt cried in pain. He was too far into what he wanted to pay the cried mind; quickly he mixed the blood and ink together and started to write. The result was black and red swirled letters that gleamed. With a grin he sent it off, and was surprised when he got a return commenting on his beautiful ink and asking if he could find a prettier paper. So with this new goal he searched, and searched finding nothing. The little colt stood shivering scared of him; the common male looked to the colt’s side to see ink had splattered on its white fur.

White fur, which was it! With a mad gleam he brought the Colt to him forcing the kid to hold still, and then with a sharpened quill he started to write on it ignoring the screams of pain. Done he threw ink into the wounds and watched as the blood mixed and the stuff dried showing that beautiful ink again. With glee he sent the colt off and was pleased when a letter came back. The young male saw only what he wanted to see, he did not see how the Angeni was appalled at what he had done only that the paper was perfect. So he kept writing pushing ink into the young colt over and over. He did not see the time was changing and the little white Uni was growing.

It was one day he was writing that he heard some passing Soquili talk of the Angeni new mate. Surprised he went to see her and saw a male standing beside her both of them smiling and laughing. Enraged the common male went back and in white fur he wrote too much on the little male’s side and the foal fell dumping ink and his own blood all over himself as the light dimmed from soft golden eyes. The common male was angry and dragged the younger Soquili into the woods where he left the body, but he went back to the Angeni and her mate and with fury he killed them to and dragged their bodies next to the little Uni covered in blood and ink. He left them there to rot and went off.

Uni, and the bird like Soquili that was the Angeni mate all slowly mixed together in an odd sight; over time melting and turning until they were a pile of one body. It was then the white stallion stood, his feet talons his mane and hair along his whip like tail sluggishly moved gleaming black and red. It was made of the pretty colored Ink, dripping down him to land on the ground. The stallion’s eyes gleamed a cold but sad gold as he slowly started to walk. Every now and then on his body a word would write itself then bleed before it would quickly fade. Love, pure, fair, gentle. Words of endearment would flash across lily white fur only to leave a trail of blood after they faded to reaper somewhere else.

The stallion then went place to place killing any who dared write their love. Those who wrote were said to be found dead with hate and other filth written on them; ink spilled all around them mixed with blood that caused it to glow softly and brightly. Now it’s said he still kills those who dare write of love, but only those coward enough not to leave their names. So be warned, never pick up a quill you find to start to write of love; for the white stallion always knows what you say as the words spear on his side.

Comments: The thing in his mouth should have been a quill, I am not so good at drawing finer things. Also his hair is made of ink, and has his own blood mixing into it swirling about. It can move like normal hair but mostly it's drippy greasy oil looking stuff.

Title of Legend: Dullahan, also known as the Headless Horseman. But from Ireland. Actually, this is based on his horse, not the actual Dullahan. Or what I imagine his horse would look like =3.

Legend Details: http://www.dullahan.com/

Comments: I will put a description in here if I can get a picture. Probably I will even if I can lol.

More description:
Mane- His mane is made of a beastly black fog. It surround him flows over him like the night that his masters hunt in.
Horseman's Head- It has the color of sourdough bread, or moldy cheese. It has tiny, beady, black eyes. It is attached to the pommel of the saddle by a rope and a makeshift bandanna sling.
Body bands- They are a worn brown leather, the same as the saddle. The studs are silver, old enough to have lost its sheen. The jewels on the skulls are rubies. The only expensive or well taken care thing on him.
Saddle and blanket- The saddle and blanket are both worn looking. The saddle is brown, with a pommel. The blanket is a faded ruby color. Like it has 10 years of dirt in it.
Nostril flames- He has flames shooting from his nostrils. It is part of how the Dullahan would create fear in who see him and capture their soul.
Markings- I wasn't able to draw it on, so I'll just use my words ^w^. In the legend, the Dullahan rides a black steed. But I would like to keep this stallion in his original white. Or most of it. He is albino, and so his black is very faded and looks like it is threaded over his skin. The best example of this is the albino orca picture I included below. Even though he is albino, he was cursed to keep his golden eyes. So no Dullahan would work with him. They have a profound fear of gold. He has all his original markings though, in their full shades now. But the black thread-like markings would look faded and scattered over his body.
Whip- Before being exiled because of his eyes, he was equipped for a Dullahan's journey. And so, he has a whip made of a human spine with him. Either hanging from his mouth, or attached to the saddle, or at his feet. I don't really mind where you put it. But I think the handle in his mouth would be best.

Refrence pictures:
~Mane- Flowy and whispy like the fog surrounding the mane in this picture.
~Horseman's Head- Here
~Body bands edit- Here. *But without the flowers and frill. No chains on it. Just the gold studs which will be silver, the skulls, and the wrapping whitch will look like brown worn leather*
~Saddle and blanket: Not really picky about the saddle as long as it has a pommel and looks worn. Blanket has a few small holes in it, like it has been worn from many years of use. It is a faded ruby color. A little dirty looking.
~Nostril flames: Like the traced image, but better looking lol.
~Markings- Here
~Whip made of a human spine-Here

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? I made this one up but Beauty and the Beast sorta touched on it.

Title of Legend: The Prince Who Loved A Mirror

Legend Details:
Not far from the sea, atop jagged cliffs overlooking the shore rest a castle made entirely of moonstone. Within the castle lived a King and Queen blessed with a son whose looks could be considered unparalleled by any mortal. His mane was flaxen and golden like the sun, his flesh was a rich tan color and his face looked as though the god’s themselves had carved it. Any ruler would be proud to call such a perfect creature their heir. They named him Adonis after the god who was said to be the most handsome, the one no woman could resist. They all thought he would be a perfect example of what the Lunacre kingdom contained. This entire kingdom was based on worshipping the moon, a goddess who was seen as the most beautiful of them all. Her pale skin and glow so beautiful that her own priests and priestesses hid their faces in shame beneath a scarf. Everything seemed to be going so perfect, until Adonis’ mother brought him a mirror with a frame of quartz.

As the colt grew to a stallion he became more and more entranced with his own reflection in the mirror. He would stand, staring into it and marveling at his own beauty for days on end. His parents began to worry because he was neglecting his duties to goddess moon, never paying her homage or praising her beauty. The gods have been known to have very short tempers and the fact that he was ignoring his only made matters worse. It soon became that he cared for nothing if it were not as beautiful as he, and in his eyes, nothing was. His parents would pry him away from his beloved mirror to join them in banquets that they hosted for the people of Lunacre. Rather than being charming and polite as a prince is expected to be he would look them over and sneer.

“You call that a face?! Your nose is far too fat and your eyes are too close together. Don’t even get me started on the rest of your muddled appearance. If you wish to see true beauty and perfection gaze at me! I have no flaws, unlike yourself.”
Even when his younger sister would ask for some brotherly attention he would flick his gilded tail and laugh, telling her she was not nearly beautiful enough to demand his attention and therefore she was unworthy. It got to a point where his parents just gave up trying to make him a better stallion, for there was nothing they could do but beg him to be careful of what he said.

One night as he stare into his beloved mirror at his glorious reflection he caught a glimpse of the moon in the corner of the silvery glass. Turning his head gracefully he studied the moon for a moment and began to chuckle to himself.
“They call you a beauty that has no equal, and yet, here I stand. Look at you, a lump of floating pitted rock looming over us like the village idiot.”
Turning again to coo at his own reflection he flashed one of his debonair smiles.
“They should worship me, not you. Hide their hideous faces from me, not you! I should be the one who is called the most beautiful. You are nothing, if anything you should be bowing before me.”

Mother moon listened in anger as the stallion’s words barraged her ears. First he refused to pay homage to the goddess that blessed him with such good looks and then he turned to insulting her further by mocking her appearance. She listened to his ramblings a moment more before growing quite angry. She had given him what he so bragged about, she was the one who made him glorious. She watched as he stared lovingly at his reflection in fury. With a spiteful laugh of her own she directed her attention to his reflection.

“You will be punished for your impudence Adonis! You have disrespected me one too many times and it is time for you to pay. You say you are lovelier than I, well then, I shall make your beauty melt away to reveal what you truly are inside!”
At first Adonis laughed, thinking the old lump of rock could do him no harm but after a moment his laugh turned to screams of horror and pain. Within the mirror he watched as his hair turned from a gorgeous gold to an oily black, the crown atop his head twisted and turned color as it morphed into devilish horns. His tail became bald and elongated, bones popped out from it and from them sprung steel spikes, and his back arched and crackled as the vertebrae that lined his spine appeared on the surface and also grew metal spikes that dug into the sensitive flesh beneath. His flawless hooves became claws and the tattoos of the Lunacre kingdom went from silver to blood red. His shoulder began to burn as hideous markings also in red appeared. His tan skin went a sickly white and an ugly black smudge marked what used to be perfect color. Tears sprung from his eyes, black tears that stained his fur, as he looked in the mirror at what he had become. The mirror, unable to handle looking at such a beastly figure cracked and fell to the floor. He watched as it shrunk and became ugly as well, glaring up at the moon in fury he let out a roar revealing fangs and an oddly shaped mouth.
“The mirror never lies.” The moon stated with a sneer.

It is said that Adonis fled his kingdom and became known as Ahriman meaning evil or demon by the townsfolk. It was said that he waits for those more beautiful than he to come along and take a look into his mirror which now hangs on his neck by a chain. As they look he uses his fangs or his tail to take their life. When their corpse is left steaming in the cool mist that seems to follow him around he repeats what the moon last said to him.

“The mirror never lies.”

Parents tell their children that they will only be safe when the moon is full, for Ahriman does not want to show the moon his pain and anger for it would please her greatly. They say, if you do not believe, you may find him in a freak show called the Blood Moon Carnival where he waits for his victims to become separated from the pack. Oh how he would love to see the pale mistress tainted by blood...

Comments: I am no good at coloring so I figure I will write what I was thinking down. His hair would be a deep black almost oily looking. The spikes on his back and tail are made of steel and are held by a piece of bone looking almost like vertebras (Even though in the drawing I was an uber dork and got it mixed up. XD). The one on his back is what a spine would look like with little metal hooks (spines?) digging into his flesh. The wings behind his ears are black with red tips. His smile is ghoulish yet sad, as though he has lost something dear to himself. The mirror around his neck has demonic etchings for it too became ugly, it is held by a chain. (Take liberty with the frame around the mirror, I tried but my skill won't allow me to do it.) His tattoo is red like the one on his forehead and legs. The lettering I made up, it looks bad but I am sure it is at least an example. I plan on having it mean: "The Mirror Never Lies." A kind of cruel irony.
