One of the tents of the wicked fair is home to the animal handler, a wicked humanoid creature that lurks in the shadows, white and red tattoo's marking her dark black skin highlighting the hallow red eyes set deep in her skull.

Her domain is that of howls and snarls of the creatures and beings held on display, touring as she showed off both the cryptozoological and the... More resistant members of the Urban Legend Avatars.

However, many don't realize that she, in fact, had used trickery to turn the creatures into what they are. However, in her back room she has a new toy, a special creature already peculiar in appearance, the unwilling soquili dragged in and stripped of his accessories and hair, branded with the carnival's mark.

You are the Animal handlers assistants, and she wishes to make him a star attraction to her menagerie. Help her make him a legend...

Contest Concept:
This poor stripped fellow needs some accessories and hair to transform him into the Avatar of an Urban legend.. Even if the urban Legend has to be invented specifically for him. You get to draw the concepts of what he should look like. First place winner gets to have their design brought to life and becomes his own personal 'trainer', taking him home with them.

You can choose to either draw directly on his image, use one of the reference lines, or draw your own picture of what his new look should be. You should also link to or write up about the legend his new look is based on.

Q: May I change his Expression?
A: you may, if its absolutely necessary for your legend.

Q: may I add things to his feet, such as webbing?
A: Of course! Just dont change what his feet are/redraw new feet completely.

Q: Can I have wings as part of an accessory?
A: Yes, but it must Obviously be part of an accessory.

Q: may I have small Head or foot wings?
A: .... Actually, I don't see why not. They won't be able to fly by them, but they MAY have them, much like they may have fins, spikes, and feathers.

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? Existing!

    Title of Legend: This doesn't really have a title... Mostly because it's a local legend at my school, and well... no one really knows of it outside my school xD;

    Legend Details:
Last year, when I first came to this school, I stayed in the freshmen housing area called Mesa Court. My hall was relatively close to campus, and hey, I was happy.

When Halloween came around last year, I was really happy with what hall I was in, despite all the noise and cruddy hall-mates that I had.

There was another hall, decently close to me, that was haunted. The story goes that the girl that hung herself from a ceiling fan was very troubled because of school and otherwise. Every Halloween after her death, the people living at that hall dedicate it to her. (People do still live in her room though. They also took out the ceiling fans so nothing like that is possible now.)

    * Note; I am actually a very big chicken, and currently, typing this out at nearly 10PM is making me scared ;x; No I am not disrespecting in any way Dx Just a representation of what happened to her... ;3;'' *

Comments: More about him o: This little boy's hair is actually 'windswept'... well, going around, like a ceiling fan (hence the really long hair; I also noticed that i drew the hair on the tail wrong, where it's supposed to have the same swirling direction of the mane). The rope is self explanetory, but I thought he was perfect for doing this story because of the mark around his neck (perfect is not always good though D: *shot* I'm scared shitless typing this up ><). The 'weights' are well, pretty much the causes to the death. I was thinking though, instead of regular circles and stuff, make it like... things that represent the different burdens (ex. books for school, hands holding hands for relationships, etc).

Title of Legend: Red Mantle/Red Cloak

Legend Details: Here

Comments: I’m sorry about the horrible art x.x I’m not very artistic.
Basic break down of the edits (In case it’s not clear): A red vest with blue buttons, A red cloak, blood dripping from the horns to smear on the white mask with black versions of the blood moon markings. Piano wire around his front talons (for easier strangling X-D), and razor sharp blades on his tail, with blood dripping off them. Also, the fun bloodied talons. And long, flowing mane, base black with red and blue highlights.

Aka Hanten is very vain and likes everyone to be as irresistibly beautiful as he is. Of course, he seems to think that true beauty comes either in blood read, or strangled blue.

Alt version.

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? It's based off the existing legend of Slender man, With my own twist.

Title of Legend: Slender horse.

Legend Details: First please read this: Story of slender man.

Slender horse comes mostly at night. He just stares and smiles and you till willingly you come to him. He'll ensnare you with his one long tentacle. You'll be hypnotized as he tears through you with his long bird like talons, And his sharp mouth full of teeth. Then he'll dump you, Leaving no trace of himself.

Comments:
Well I wanted to make slender man but with a twist, Since I hate full body clothing on soquili. Then I remembered when me and my friend chatted about slender man, And we came up that he couldn't have a perfect suit all the time if he lived in the woods. So I toke that idea and just played around with it.

Title of Legend: The Night Marcher

Legend Details: X

Comments: I was born in Hawaii and my grandparents [[Along with about half my family. e-e]] have lived over there since my mom was in high school, leaving me to be practically raised over there. It's like my second home. <33 We visit grandma and grandpa almost every summer, so I'm kind of kinda-sorta spooked out by Night Marchers and stuff by now, lol. ;n;

- - - -

- Two of his main items [[Shoulder Cape & Netted Armour]] are based from this pic. The material his cape is made from should me much more plush and fluffed looking, since they're traditionally made of rare bird feathers.

- Those 'tassels' on his helmet should be way more grass looking, like in this pic. And his helm should be made of wood, not look all.. stupid, like I made it. XD

- His mane should be sticking out from through his helmet, not look like it's behind it. His horns would also be poking through both his mane and the helm as well. His mane and horns are a replacement for the 'moehawk' on a Hawaiian warrior's helmet, shown here.

- I trust that you can make him much awesome-er lookin' than I did. >w> <3

Title of Legend: Slender Man

Legend Details: He lives in the woods, and comes for the children. He has no face. Why doesn't he gave a face?? Oh god he sees m---

Comments: This probably will be disqualified because I had to remove his face... but if he has a face he isn't Slender Man, and that is all I could think of when I saw him.

A very well done depiction of the legend. Make sure to watch at night, lights off with head phones for full effect.

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? Invented by yours trulyas far as I know.

Title of Legend: The Breath Stealer

Legend Details: Candlewick is the demon who steals your breath away. If left to his own devices, he strikes when he's least expected, in moments of surprise or greatest fear. He can be summoned, however, by lighting a tallow candle, burning a picture of the intended target, and chanting:

Candlewick, Candlewick, come thou here
Take [insert name here]'s breath and keep it near

three times. Then put out the candle with a silver snuffer.

He is surrounded by a perpetual wind that blows through his dark mane, comprised of all the breath he's stolen over time. His feet are caked in layers of hardened wax, having trekked through thousands of puddles as he's gone about his job.

He wears a silver candle snuffer cap on a chain around his neck and the tip of his tail always seems to smolder with a lingering wisp of smoke.

Comments: You would pull this off much better than I did, but hopefully you get the gist. He could also have more spatters and splatters of wax on him, at your discretion.

Name of Soquili: Altan (Mongolian name meaning "gold.")
Temper: Cursed

Entry
User Image

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? Based on an exsisting legend (or rather a group of legends).

Title of Legend: Golden Touch

Legend Details: It is believed that wearing the ring of 'true' gold enables the user to turn anything they touch to gold. The two most famous users are King Midas and El Dorado.

King Midas was greedy and turned his entire palace to gold, but one day he accidently turned his wife to gold in his arms. Sorrow enveloped him and he was never the same so he turned himself to gold to join her in her fate.

El Dorado was said to be so greedy that he coated himself in gold dust so that he would ever be covered in the substance that he loved so much. One day a group of bandits try to steal his ring forcing him to jump off a cliff into a lake, but the gold dust and jewlery weighed him down and started to sink and eventually drown.

Nothing good comes of greed.
Not everything that sparkles is gold.

Comments: I am sure you can do him far better than I did XD.... but he is sprinkled in gold dust and holds the cursed ring in his face.... I sort of feel that his tortured expression is because he is trying to resist the pull of the cursed gold but at the same time can not bear to be without. Add or remove anything you want.

*Wavy golden hair.
*Golden hair near the top of his tail.
*Gold dust sprinkled on his body (back and front legs mainly).
*Golden ring in his mouth.

Is this an existing Legend or a new one you have invented? debunked, but had existed

Title of Legend: Y2K

Legend Details: Maybe I'm old, but I remember the fear of a time they all called Y2K. Why Y2K, you ask? Gather around, children, for this is a time when people pretended that computers were not so much a part of our lives as they are now, but still relied on them for everything. Yes, an olden time of yore, known now simply as... the 90s.

Picture it, America, 1999... Wait, sorry, Golden Girls moment. See, the 90s were an odd time, the Golden Girls were ending, stealing from us Sophia's flashbacks and Rose's stories. Hair was deflating, legwarmers were becoming shelf warmers instead. An era was ending. More and more people had their lives run by computers. Palm Pilots were in the hands of every business person, and causal users used them too. Cell phones were still bulky, unreliable, and not every one had them.

What everyone did have, or nearly everyone anyway, was access to a computer. Now, there was no Gaiaonline, back then. That's how we know that it was the dark age. People suffered without, having never known all that we have and cannot live without now. People thought they were the masters over their computers. They went so far to fool themselves as to leave their computers behind when they left the house, even on vacations. It was truly a dark time, but humans did what they had to to convince themselves they were not ruled by the computers.

in 1999, the humans continued to assert their independence, all the while knowing what a lie it was. The movie, The Matrix, was clearly, as we see from the vantage of history, a call to arms for the humans of the 90s to break the hold the computers had over them. But there was a bigger fear lurking in the shadow recesses of that year. Y2K.

You see, no matter how much they wanted to convince themselves that computers were just tools that couldn't pass a Turing test, the fear of the Y2K bug made them realize the fools they had been. You see, no one had ever thought that computer software written back then would last until the year 2000. No human thought that far in advance. So computer calendars worked on a 2 digit model for years. '97, '98, '99, '99... when the calendar hit '00 everyone feared that the computer would think it was 1900. Since computers didn't exist in 1900, there was the fear that they might prove Descartes right, and cease to be. Or, nearly as bad, they might mess up and give everyone 100 years of vacation time. Somehow this was seen as a very bad thing. No one nowadays is really sure why.

December 1999. No one was partying like it was 1999, no matter how many times Prince's music was formally played. Breath was held, tensions mounted. People ignored the crazies who said it was 2012 that would be the end of the world, so how could 2000 destroy us? People also ignored the crazies that said that the millennium didn't really start till 2001. What everyone sensible knew then, it seemed, was that when the ball dropped, it would crush society under it's glowing surface. The world would be forever changed.

10, 9, 8, people counted, nervous. 7, 6, 5, the huddled masses stared at their computer screens, some fell to the ground in prayer. 4, 3, 11, 01, for some people were counting in binary, in hopes to appease the gods of computing, praying at the Oracle of Delphi. They sacrificed Apples and opened out their Windows. Anything to stave off the coming disaster.

Then the dread moment hit. The world held it's breath in every timezone as the clocks moved from 11:59pm to 12:00:00 am. And a cry went up, heard 'round the world. Nothing had happened! Society still existed, computers still worked. People blessed their gods, and their rituals, and partied like it was 199....2000!

But somewhere, unseen, they say there still lurk the ghosts of those ancient unthanked programmers who gave their life, slaving away to fix software in a hope to stave off the impending doom. If you sit before an old green screen and squint, right at midnight of a new year, they say you can still see the ghost of binary code past, haunting the system, lurking, laying in wait for the Y3K disaster that is sure to come.

Comments:
Not sure if the Y2K bug counts as an urban legend anymore. But I lived with a programmer at the time, and listening to him debunk everyone's fears on tv and in the news made the whole thing feel very much like a campfire ghost story or an urban legend; something just scary enough that even the hard light of day and reason can't fully banish, even though you really do know better. I hope you enjoyed my story. mrgreen

Title of Legend: "The Licked Hand"

Legend Details:
A young girl is left home alone with only her dog to protect her. On the news that night, they announced there was a serial killer on the loose in the local area. Before she goes to bed, she locks all the doors and tries to lock all the windows, but the one in the basement won't close. She decides to leave it open, but locks the basement door and goes to bed. Her dog takes its customary place under her bed.

In the deep of night she awakens to a dripping sound coming from the bathroom. The girl is too scared to go check so she reaches her hand under the bed. She feels a reassuring lick from her dog and falls back to sleep. She reawakens to the dripping sound, reaches her hand down to the dog where she feels the reassuring lick and falls back to sleep. Once more, she awakens to the dripping sound. She reaches her hand down and feels the lick of her dog.

Now curious about the dripping sound, she gets up and slowly walks towards the bathroom, the dripping sound getting louder as she approaches. She reaches the bathroom and turns on the light. She is greeted by a horrific sight; hanging from the shower nozzle is her dog with its throat slit open and its blood dripping into the bathtub.

Something on the bathroom mirror catches her eye; she turns around. Written on the wall in her dog's blood are the words "HUMANS CAN LICK TOO".

Comments:
In more violent/dark versions of this story, the girl is killed too, which is what I've gone with here.

@_@;;;; I know how bad this picture is. XD; I only have access to Paint, and it's obvious that I'm not good with it. Basically, all the red stuff is meant to be blood, the pink thing is meant to be a bed blanket and the thing coming from his mouth is his tongue. Also, I purposely left him bald. XD;
