((of course! xP))

"Oh, I see." So it was because he was good at it. Which meant that if she ever managed to shapeshift, she'd end up naked...not that she was at all the self-conscious sort. And there was the potential for a possible fringe benefit or two! Hmm.

As he found a trail, Adi fell quiet and followed with soft steps, sniffing the air while he sniffed at the ground.

Elik focused on the trail, certain that Adi was following without having to look. Soft steps yes, but close enough that he could hear them.

It didn't take long before they found what they'd sought - a female deer, grazing in the grass. Not bad, really.

"I'll try to slide on the other side." He whispered. "We'll trap it."

Yes, they'd found it! Now would be the tricky part - killing it with cat-Elik, somehow, without getting in each other's way. She nodded in answer and hunkered down to wait for him to go around and tell her when, drawing her little knife.

Though her fingernails were halfway to being claws, that wasn't quite enough for bigger things.

He waited until Adi was in position and ready, nodding in her direction to signal that he was moving in. The plan was simple - he'd wear the deer down, and she could finish it. Or however, really - he simply was the best suited to do the running.

He got as close as he possibly could, and when the deer rose it's head in alarm, Elik bolted.

That was actually not what she'd been expecting. She'd thought for sure he was going to just jump on it! Maybe he couldn't jump quite that far? She couldn't, but he was great big cat! But thinking about how she'd thought it was going to go wasn't going to help any. After a moment of pause, she darted off after Elik and the deer, bound and determined to catch up, keep up, and impress him with her awesome hunting skills!

Most days, that was how it would have gone. Today, though, it ended up in a mistimed jump over a log and a faceplant.

Life was so not fair.

Thankfully for Adi, through, Elik didn't seem to notice the most failtastic fall of all falls - he was a little busy, see.

Eventually, through, he managed to catch up, and did manage to get close enough to jump, going straight for the neck.

...And missed, falling flat on his face.

Maybe Adi would feel better upon seeing this.

It did make Adi feel better, once she got around to picking herself up off the ground with a groan. She'd hadn't missed the kill, nor had she embarrassed herself horribly - she wasn't prone to embarrassment, usually, but this was one of those occasions where she would have been.

Rubbing her nose, she observed, "...I think we're not having deer."

"Yes. It seems like we're not having deer."

Silence. Really, Elik was the one embarrassed here. That had been, well.

Less than splendid.

"...Rabbit's good, through." And easier to catch.

"You know, I think we have some leftover rabbit from yesterday," she suggested, now feeling less than confident in her ability to successfully chase things today. And sore, because that had hurt.

"Yeah, actually... That sounds like a good idea..."

His right paw was hurting, too. Not broken, but he probably pulled something in there in his awkward, full-body crash on it. Still, he tried not to limp too badly once he got moving again, if only so Adi wouldn't freak out too badly.

If it weren't Elik, Adi might not have noticed, but it was Elik, and he was someone she paid extra attention to...even when he was a cat and not a tall and handsome guy. He wasn't limping badly enough for her to freak out, but she did ask, "You okay?"

"I think I sprained something." He grimaced - well, as much as he could with a maw. "I should be able to mend it once I shift back... Through we should probably go back first."

He didn't like shifting in the middle of wildness. Old habits died hard - even now he was acting like a orc might jump them at any moment.

"Ohhh." Adi had to resist the urge to stop right there and look at it - not that she knew anything about sprains or how to fix them, much less in druid-cats - and instead nodded in agreement. "Alright!"

Off they went back to the Pantheon, where Adi headed for Rio's rooms - she still had a bit of a tendency to drift back and forth between Rio's and Glyph's. A quick peek around revealed no one was home, which was fine by her on this particular occasion.

Elik shifted back into his night elven form for ease of climbing stairs - after all, both his legs were perfectly fine, even if shifting with a pulled muscle was, well... painful - and followed Adrienne inside, sitting down once he found a place to do so.

Thankfully, this wouldn't get too messy.

"Right..." He let his eyes fall closed, and tried to focus the restorative magic. It was slow going - very slow going, really - but eventually something did happen, with the fingers of his uninjured hand gaining a soft, green hue.

When Elik sat, so did Adi, hunkering to watch him intently. He was going to do cool druid stuff and heal himself! Even though it took awhile - and she wasn't getting any less hungry - she stayed quietly rooted to the spot to see what happened. She felt bad that Elik had hurt himself, of course, but...magic!
