Talking with Xun had unsettled and subsequently re-settled Adi, but had also reminded her that she'd made a promise to her friend, not just to work hard at being a druid, but to take care of Glyph and Elik. The first part she had well in hand, but the Glyph part...that was more complicated. How did she take care of a god who did a perfectly good job of taking care of himself? All she knew to do was do what he asked her to, which was essentially the same as the first part of her promise.

And then there was Elik, who she liked. A lot. That made it an entirely different kind of complicated, since she wasn't entirely sure how to go about the whole 'liking' thing. She had no shortage of advice - she'd actually had close to too much advice from Shy and Ishkha - but advice only went so far. It was all a lot harder than everyone made it sound, especially considering what he was dealing with. Like Rio had told her once, he probably wasn't...paying attention to other things. Which was fine, you know, understandable, but frustrating to young women who had yet to fully grasp patience.

So she resolved to just keep hanging around, and maybe eventually he would notice; Ishkha told her she should make him notice somehow, but that seemed a strategy better left for if she got really desperate. All in all, she was a rather Confused werewolf at this particular point in time.

Lying on her back in the grass, staring up at the blue sky, she sighed. Why was being an adult so hard?

Plainly unaware of the confused young werewolf nearby, Elik was on the prowl. It was a little early for him to be up, most likely, but he was finding that, with the sky being back. he was becoming more and more diurnal rather than nocturnal, through right now he was a bit of half and half - woke up in the middle of the afternoon and went to bed as the sun rose.

He'd been on his way out when he did, in fact, notice her. "Adi ! Im going hunting, do you want to come with me ?" He knew it was something she enjoyed, and she'd been... Well, he knew Illisia's loss had hit her almost as badly as it had hit him - he was eager to try to cheer her up, blissfully unaware that he was part of the 'problem', so to speak.

Huh? Adi jolted awake when spoken to, but quickly smiled at the speaker and wagged her tail. While she might be at a loss for how to proceed with any half-formed 'plans' she might have, she was never not happy to see him.

"Sure!" she agreed, standing and running a hand through her hair. Hopefully she didn't have any grass in there. "What are we hunting?"

Well, he'd planned on something small - probably a rabbit - but with Adi around, those plans were shifting quickly. "Depends on what we find, doesn't it ? Through a deer might be nice..." He hadn't had deer im awhile. On his lonesome he rarely went for larger prey - wasting perfectly good meat irked him. But with Adi on board this wasn't as much of a problem - she had more mouths to feed than him... so to speak.

Truth was it, through, she was much more likely to find grass and random twigs in his hair than she was her own, so perhaps the young werewolf didn't need to worry so much.

"Deer's good! I like deer!" There was something about hunting larger animals that was more exciting, more fun, a very different kind of difficult than small animals, although those could be hard in their own way. They were smaller targets, and very fast when they wanted to be.

Having assured herself that her hair was free of unintended accessories, she quickly pulled it back to keep it out of her way. She didn't usually worry much about the state of her hair, but...

"Are you going to hunt like this, or change into something?" The werewolf sounded hopeful.

Elik would agree, really. Deer was delicious. No contest here. Especially roasted. His mother might have been adept at sweets, but Elik excelled at a completely different kind of cooking.

But now he was getting ahead of himself. They had to earn their diner before they could even ponder cooking it.

"Of course I will." Of course, he could perfectly hunt as he was now, but... That seemed wrong somehow. He was too used to claws to think any other way was suitable for him.

"Awesome," Adi proclaimed, bringing her hands together in excitement. "I've never hunted with anybody who was, uh, using four legs." She and Illisia had meant to go hunting together, but...the werewolf shook it off before it could get to her too much. This was here and now, and she was going to go hunting with Elik. Illisia would have liked that.

Speaking of hunting, and shapes...Xun had encouraged her to ask Elik to teach her more druid things, and changing was one she'd always been intrigued by - and one the night elf was good at it! She scuffed a paw around in the grass and asked, "How do you do it? Can you tell me more about it?"

"Likewise, I never went hunting with a werewolf. Learning experience, uh ?"

...More than he thought, it seemed, given the questions that followed. Hadn't Illisia told her about it ? Apparently not.

Hn.

"Well, my people have animal spirits that they worship... They bestow us druids the ability to take on their shapes." There were some non-night elven who could do it, of course, which made him wonder... "I've never heard of a wolf, through."

But maybe it was a similar idea for true shapeshifters ? He had no idea.

Adi was undeterred by Elik's brief explanation - he wasn't going to put her off that easily! He was the only person she knew who could change shape, and she was determined to at least try to learn. "I'm already part wolf, so maybe I've already got it sort of...in me. I just don't know how to do it."

She fixed him with her best 'pretty please?' look. "Maybe if you teach me how it works for night elves?"

"Well, I can try it, but im not completely sure how it works for true shapeshifters, really..." He admitted. He didn't want to get her hopes up, but at least he wasn't outright turning her down. It was a start, right ?

Still, he wondered why Illisia hadn't at least tried. It was hard to imagine Adrienne hadn't tried to bring it up at all. The pain, perhaps ? Silly mother of his - wouldn't it be better if the girl learned to deal with pain, and might be able to defend herself and her own better should something happen ?

No, Elik cared, but he wouldn't coddle. The fact that he had no idea how young the werewolf truly was probably helped.

"It takes a lot of concentration at first." He continued walking, still - looking for a place where they wouldn't be bothered. The forested areas would do just fine - less likely that stragglers from the pantheon could run into them. "An d it hurts. A lot. But the more you do it, the more your body gets used to it. Then eventually it stop hurting." He wasn't trying to dissuade her, but he wasn't going to sugar-coat it for it.

Elik was a much more down-to-the-point teacher than his mother was, and this much was easily apparent.

Yes! He was going to help her! Adi skipped a step behind the night elf in glee before toning it down. Lessons were important, and she didn't want him to think she wasn't taking it seriously. She did look a bit dismayed, though, when he told her how much it hurt. Her ears fell a little at the thought of pain, but she quickly brushed it away. Did it really matter if it hurt?

"Oh, I guess that makes sense. Since everything's...turning into something else." It did seem to tone her enthusiasm as she followed Elik, the knowledge that this was going to be hard.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 22, 2012 6:08 pm

Elik saw the dimmer in enthusiam, but did his best to pretend not to notice. If she wanted to stop at any way, they would, and that would be that. He wouldn't think less of her for it - many stopped at that point and instead turned to healing. Not everyone was suited for that kind of thing.

They'd gone out of the pantheon grounds proper, and reached a small clearing - this would do, he decided. "Okay... Sit down, first of all." Wouldn't do her any good to fall over, wouldn't it ? He did sit down himself, smoothing his cloak as he did.

"Close your eyes... and imagine a wolf. Imagine the kind of qualities a wolf has, and try to make them their own." He didn't close his eyes, through, and instead stayed alert and ready. After all, he had no idea what would happen. It might be completely different for natural shapeshifers, it might not work because she was only half-werewolf... or it might work and she might need assistance.

No matter the outcome, he hoped to be ready.

Obediently, Adi plopped down into the grass, settling and then resettling herself. Right, she was supposed to concentrate, and that probably meant not fidgeting. She took a deep breath, which usually helped, and closed her eyes. Imagine a wolf, that was easy enough, the qualities...she already had some of those, even! She thought of the ones she had and the ones she didn't, and set about trying to convince her body that it should have them all.

Five minutes later - though it felt like a lot longer to her - she was still sitting there, looking exactly like Adi. A frown pulled at her lips, and while she kept her eyes closed, she asked, "What is it supposed to feel like? 'Cause I don't think I feel anything."

The five minutes were just as long for Elik - who barely dared to blink, really. But nothing was happening, and well... It wasn't looking good for his first stint at teaching shape-shifting. "It feel like... Well, you know how it feels when you sit on your leg for too long ? That kind of tingling ? It feels like that at first."

"How long did it take you, the first time you did it?" Concentration was definitely not one of Adi's strong points! But it would be good to know how long it had taken Elik, to have some sort of estimate.
