Atsadi waited, letting Owen take the lead. Well, not only did he have rum, but he seemed to be something of an interesting fellow. A bit of conversation and company was easy enough payment for a bit of the good stuff. If she got booze AND entertainment out of the deal, then bonus!

The shore down by the water's edge was quieter than the areas up by the coolers. It was a welcome change. Though she played her social graces easily enough, the truth was that prolonged time around crowds made Atsadi antsy. Of course, it was all about maintaining the right balance between time alone and time socializing.

"So, well met, Mr. Bronzeclaw," she offered with a smirk, her smooth stride keeping up effortlessly with his lead. Diverting her path only slightly, she moved so that the water washed up over her claws as she walked. Relishing the sensation, she continued, "Do you always know where to find the best drinks at parties like this?"

Owen did lead but not too far ahead of her, so that they could still converse easily. His tail dipped into the water as well, then flicked a bit of water up and out away from them as he chuckled at her question. "I always know where to find the best anything," he says a bit smugly. "It's sort of a specialty of mine." He chuckles. "Plus, my mother is a pirate so I had better know how to find rum, yes?" he says with a grin. Sure, he typically focused more on business and making deals than straight up piracy, but he still had that buccaneer blood in him.

Ah ha! A pirate! She'd kind of been getting that vibe, but hadn't been entirely sure she wasn't imagining it. He seemed like something of a businessman rather than a buccaneer, and yet...there were certainly other kinds of piracy out there. It wasn't only one sort.

"A useful skill set indeed," she praised, chuckling to herself. "Yet, does that also mean the rum disappears just as quickly as it's found?" she teased. She hadn't even noticed, despite the constant mention of it, that they had yet to share any of the choice booze. She was too distracted.

On the mention of parentage, she became reflective for a moment before casually commenting, "No pirates here. Though, one of my fathers is a shark." She kept her expression pleasantly neutral, though she was wondering exactly how Owen would take THAT comment. It was technically true. Sort of.

User ImageThane sighed as he looked around the Beach, while the others were all off somewhere he and Slyph stayed near the bags just in case. He looked around hoping to spot one of the others. "Where do you think they all went to, Silly?"

Slyph shrugged as she laid curled on the nice shaded blanket. "No idea, Uli. i'm sure they'll come back when it gets close to lunch time. We packed that picnic after all."User Image

The two would sit in companionship unless someone wanted to get their attention...neither were attention seekers which suited them just fine. It was everyone else in their small little family that seemed to seek out others.

Ah good, the girl wants a drink, thought Travis. "Ask and you shall receive," he replied. "Any preferences, or will a bottle of home-made brew do?" Travis wondered if she was the down-home type of girl or if she set her sights higher like the companion she'd arrived with. Either way, it was sure to be an interesting game.

"You looked like you were about to go and tackle that drunken party crasher. Are you normally one to rush to the aid of another?" Travis offered a bottle of Toby's 'shine'.

"Or do you just like a good tussle now and then?" he added with a wink.

Owen nodded at her praise, and then smirked. "Typically, yes, but..." he pauses and produces the rum from seemingly nowhere, "...this time you can help of course," he finishes, grinning. "Wherever you think is a good spot to stop and relax."

On the comment of her shark parentage he chuckled. "Never would have guessed," he replies, nonplussed by it, as well, there were all types of sharks, physical and otherwise. Though the fact she referenced two fathers probably meant she was summoned, unless she was simply adopted. He was hedging bets on a summoning though, due to her looks, though if one father was indeed a shark, he must have been pretty strong for a summoned wraik to have his traits. He was pretty sure most summonings were random but, it wasn't his area of expertise.

Slowly Trigger made his way to all the hubbub going on at the beach. It would probably not be terribly exciting since drinking wasn't really his thing, but at least it would be interesting to see others. Who know what else might happen. Maybe he would even get to talk to someone! That would certainly be fun! Or at least he hoped it would be.

Even slower than before he made his way into the crowd. There seemed to be a lot of others here. That was a good thing at least!

Looking around a bit, he found a good place on the outskirts of everything to sit down and just take it all in.

Oh thank the spirits, yes, she needed a drink. Honestly, she'd take anything at this point, but she paused before saying such aloud. Oh, come now, Sule girl, you can at least pretend to have SOME class! Though...she wasn't sure she could pull the 'princess' thing off like Ama could.

Ah well, hopefully something in the middle would work for her.

With a grateful smile, she returned her attention to Travis. "Homemade? Why sir, I'd be honored to try it." She was trying to aim for the graceful, demure look, but his next comment threw her completely off her game. Had she looked like that? Well, so much for playing the part of a fine lady...

Being painted as some kind of hero was embarrassing to say the least, but the implications that rose to mind just fed the fire warming her cheeks. She smiled sheepishly and shrugged. Come on, Sule...you can play this game too. "Eh, she's my friend. No scaly drunk is gonna' mess with my friend while I'm around." Then she grinned with a bit of a playful look in her eyes. Besides, I'm not as delicate as I look."

Barely even batted an eye at her comment. Actually, that earned the fellow a few points in her book. Most at least gave her strange looks or had the obvious 'wait what?' moment following her statement before reasoning it out. But this one...cool as a sea cucumber.

Definitely more interesting than most.

Atsadi's smile widened at the return of the bottle. Right, that's how this all started. How could she have forgotten? Well, certainly wouldn't let that lovely bottle go to waste. Her eyes scanned the shoreline before spotting a half-submerged rock in the shallows. Clearly, neither of them minded the water, and perhaps even preferred it, so it was perfect. She led the way to the sizeable stone, then leapt on top to drape herself over it comfortably, hind paws and tail dangling in the water. She then grinned and patted the stone beside her where there was still plenty of room for another. "This seems as good a spot as any, I'd say. Care to join me, sir?"

Draining the last of the sweet, fruity concoction from the bottle, the kitsune took a deep breath and let it out in a long sigh. She'd nearly made a mess of things tonight. She was embarrassed and ashamed of her actions as well...or, her reactions anyway. It was hard to explain why she reacted so dramatically. She'd like to blame the alcohol, but she wasn't sure she'd had nearly enough at the time to even allow herself to attempt that excuse.

With a huff, she rolled from her reclining position to drop back into the sand. Hair and fur and tails be damned, she'd deal with grooming later; she was too tired (and maybe slightly drunk) to care. But, instead of thumping into the sand, she fell back against something far more solid. And warm. And fluffy.

Blinking a bit, she stared up at the orange Elder in alcohol-fueled puzzlement. "...you're...still here."

Finishing the last of his beer, Warren set the bottle aside in a growing pile of empties with a soft clink of glass. He turned back and raised an eyebrow at the bleary kitsune with a ghost of a smirk. "So I am. Where else would I have gone?"

Addled though she may be by drink, Samantha had reason to be confused. This was unusual behavior. Why was he still here? Shouldn't he have buggered off long ago? Off to annoy some poor lady at the party? Or just find more beer? Or whatever it was he normally did at these things. She continued frowning as she sat up, unwilling to keep laying on the other's shoulder. It was too close. Too...comfortable.

She folded her paws in front of her, focused on remaining composed to puzzle this out. "Back to the party. Shouldn't you be off making sure you hit on every woman here? I'm sure there's a few here you haven't spoken to yet. Isn't that normally what you do?"

She had a point; that was his usual M.O. He'd be checking out the beer selection, flashing smiles at all the hot ladies, trying to get some of them to at least smile back...

With half a shrug, he answered indifferently, "I suppose it is, but...don't feel like it. Figured I'd just stay here."

"There's plenty of pretty faces out there. Why not go?"

His hopes that the kitsune would leave it be were dashed on the rocks.

Of course they were. She wouldn't be Sam if she didn't push. He was just hoping against hope to avoid the issue. It was something he was still puzzling over himself. Indeed, there were a lot of pretty faces out there. And he certainly was a good judge, if he did say so himself. He could appreciate beauty in all its forms.

So why did he keep coming back to this one? No matter where else he looked or wandered, why did he always feel drawn back to this one woman? He couldn't answer why; he just knew it to be a truth, just like how water was wet and fire was hot. There was no denying it.

"Because...you looked like you needed some company this evening."

Whatever Samantha had been expecting to hear as an excuse, it wasn't that. It gave her pause and her frown turned introspective for a moment. She had to admit, he had been good company. Apparently he could be when he wasn't actively trying to be annoying. Clearly he took joy in purposefully doing that. Except, not right now...he'd been quiet and just...been there. Even if she'd forgotten for a moment that he was. He'd stayed.

It had been better not to be alone, she had to admit.

Ears laying back slightly, she dropped her stare to her paws. "Oh. Well...um... What I mean is...thanks. For...for everything this evening." What had happened earlier was embarrassing, but she was glad that's all it was. And really, Warren had been the only one to see her nearly make a fool of herself and likely make the situation worse. She'd really only been embarrassed that he'd seen that...

It had been the truth. Sort of. Allowing a grin to cross his muzzle, Warren chuckled in reply. "No worries, Sam," he said quietly, reaching for his last beer nearby. He popped the cap from the bottle with a claw easily, adding, "Anytime," before taking a sip.

Turning his gaze towards the sky, he continued before the kitsune could resume further introspection. "Been a long day. Go ahead and use me as a pillow if you want. Apparently I'm good for that. Warm too," he commented with a snicker. The feeling of the weight of Sam's head against his shoulder returned, causing his smirk to soften as he stole a glimpse down to see her close her eyes and let the stress drain from her expression.

Warren sipped his beer, contented to remain where he was, watching the other demons scattered across the beach as only a distant observer.
