Davin_Cael tgas I was thinking more along th lines of Guy Fawkes. Who is so my hero. Just for being that horribly stupid. Random historical facts that may or may not be useful: -Ben Franklin has 74 illegitmate children. (I used to watch Cram back when GSN didn't suck. I could so kick a** on that show.) -James I of England may or may not have been gay. It is only known that he liked to grope and drool over young men in his old age. (London. Good book.) I'll think of more when my head decides to work. Gods, I wish I could remember which Roman emperor it was. I know they were all known for being lascivious across genders, but there was one in the a few generations after Ceaser, when the lead poisoning and interbreeding were starting to show their effects, who would tie young boys up to a post, put on a lion skin (and nothing else if memory holds) and "maul" them. Was it Tiberias? Or maybe it was Calligula? I don't know if this is the one you're talking about, but the emperor Heliogabolus did wacky things like appointing men to positions of power according to their p***s size and dumping rose petals on guests at a grand party, so many that some suffocated.

In answer to the poll, no i'm not. Thankfully. I am familiar with it's history though.
Does anyone else have an interest in the Cold War period?

I learned too much useless junk. See we learned all this Florida history and TOO MUCH happened in Florida history. Like all these people coming and looking for a Fountain of Youth...It was a bit weird.

I am an American citizen. My parents are American citizens. I live in America.
Despite the combination of the above things, I do not think of myself as American. My mother is pure British, and my father's family came from Germany. I have no Native-American blood, and hence I do not consider myself American.

Born in America, I am a citizen here but I am also a citizen in Denmark. I like Denmark better, what with the whole exploding frogs fiasco. Plus no drinking limit.
American history isnt taught in my highschool until you are a junior but you also take a class in seventh grade on it. I didnt like the constitution test. Hum-drum and tedious and all that. America has it's share of ups and downs in it's short life so far. Eventually every empire falls and that is something to remember.

Longbow UK In answer to the poll, no i'm not. Thankfully. I am familiar with it's history though. Does anyone else have an interest in the Cold War period? My AP US class is goin into that soon. We're in WWII, which had a significant impact on the isolationism of the past and led to American big business spreading globally.

I am an American citizen. Have been for life. But more than anything else, I'm Irish and would loove to go to Ireland someday. I am interested in history of all sorts, but mostly American right now. I'm taking American Civ I this semester, but next semester, I'm taking Am. Civ. II and Western Civ. I, so that'll be interesting.

Apropos Krause Okay. Why does everyone bring up Columbus. If we really wanted to talk about American History from the beginning we'd mention the Bering Land Bridge, and go on from there. Also, don't forget Lief Ericsson. He was one of the first explorers to discover the mainland of North America. He landed somewhere on the Eastern seaboard of the United States/Canada and called it Vinland because of the grapes he found growing there. True true!

I like American history, if only for the fact that I actually know something about since my mom lectured me a lot concerning it.

You need someone to talk about Erik the Red(who went to Greenland, which is a party of America, and Leif Erickson, who colonized the mainland(but they were in a mini-war with the Screalings(Native americans) so after a few years, were killed off(whether or not they chainmail, shields and axes, there were just too few.

Thats the guy who called himself a Sun god and aparently(not really true) make himself a Woman. Caligua married his horse and sent in to the senate and itr became a senator, showing how useless the senate was.
