Artemis slowed for but a micro-second, peering back to make sure Kagami was alright. He would have called their little race off in a heartbeat if she'd hurt herself. Luckily, it looked like she was just fine from the way she recovered -- and so he was off again with a competitive smirk in place, pulling ahead.

[Heh.... my little clutz...]
Kagami smirked lightly, pulling ahead. She glanced back at him, but wail she did that... again, she tripped, this time not getting up. "Oww..." she moaned softly, looking at her paw. It was the same paw she had hurt as a cub. She looked at what she tripped over, noticing it was another large rock, larger than the last, and sharper.[xDD]

((XDXD Poor Kagami.))
Artemis was full ready to go plowing right off again when he heard his friend groan in pain. The lion skidded to a stop, whirling so quickly it was a wonder he didn't knock himself right over. "Kagami!" She really -had- gotten hurt that time!
He was quick to make his way back to her side, concern written clearly across his face. "Are you okay? Here, let me get a look..." Not that he really knew anything about busted paws, but --

[Heheh...]
"I tripped again.." she said with a sigh. Why am I such a cluts... she thought, licking her bleeding paw. She glanced up at Artemis, her eyes soft. She then looked down at her paw again, looking at a reddened area, and how her purple and coral spotted paws began to slowly swell.

Artemis eyed the wounded paw with a faint frown. Definately worse than a little bump. If only they had a shaman or something... far as he knew, no one else in the pride was much better at this sort of thing than he was. At least nobody'd told him otherwise.
He managed a goofy little grin for her, ears tilting to a side. "Guess those rocks really have it out for you, huh?" The king gave her shoulder a gentle nudge, "Can you move it at all? Even a little?" Even if he was no expert, he remembered hearing once that if a lion couldn't move a paw, odds were it was broken. If that was the case... he hoped by the moon it wasn't. With no healer in amongst their ranks...

"Yeah, I can move it." she said, moving it lightly. "It only stings a bit... I'll be okay..." she said, rolling onto her paws, using her other three paws to push herself up. She kept her paw off the ground, using this wound as an excuse to lean on him.

"You sure?" The king's shoulders slackened, a soft sigh escaping him. What a relief. "Good." Artemis didn't mind the extra weight in the least. If she hadn't leaned on him, he probably would've insisted on it. He flashed her another smile, curling his tail loosely around her own. "Don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you."
And he honestly didn't. Ever since he'd been a kitten, for as long as he could remember (well, in -this- life anyway), she'd always been right there with him. There was no telling where he might be now if it wasn't for her. "Think you can manage a little travel? There's some water near here. You just keep leaning on me like that, okay?"
He chuckled suddenly, giving her a playful little wink. "Man, talk about deja vu, huh?"

Kagami blushed lightly, glancing away from Artemis for a moment. "Heheh... okay." she said, then heard his little coment. "Yeah, but before, I'd ride on your back..." she said with a light grin.

"Not the last time, " he pointed out, grinning right back as he took a tentative step or two to start them off. To set a pace and make sure she'd be able to move with him without too much pain. "We were about the same size the first time those rocks started picking on you."
Artemis laughed, shaking his head. "But back riding's definately out now. Unless you're looking for a big fuzzy cushion instead of a lift."

Kagami smirked, and without warning, turned her weight and jumped onto his back, draping her paws, one over each shoulder. "Big fuzzy cushion?"

"Whoa!" Artemis, completely off-guard, flopped right down onto his stomach with a loud 'oof!'. "Heeeey!"
He peered back at her, trying to stifle a fresh fit of laughter without much luck. She'd gotten him good! "What happened to taking it easy, huh?, " he teased.

"Okay, okay, " Artemis laughed, shuffling his legs around so he was a bit more comfortable himself. "Looks like your special reserved seat's still got your name on it after all."
He settled his head on his paws, grinning contently. This... was pretty cozy, really. Just laying here with Kagami like this. Couldn't hurt to stay like that for a little bit, right?

((He will. XD heart Artemis is just a little slow with this sort of thing. S'blatant to virtually everyone, but he's slow at actually saying it.))
Artemis allowed the silence to hang for a moment, just happy to let the moment linger. When he finally did speak again, there was no laughter to be found. "It really has been a long time, hasn't it?, " he said softly. "Since the first time we met, I mean."
