Flame, Russel, Merric
Setting: Outside the PLC
Link: Moo

Smerdle
"One-oh-eight-oh-nine Old Gambino Drive," Russell said to the items resting in his lap. He was sitting outside the Past Legacies Corp. building, in fact he had been for quite a while now, but he was no more enlightened at this point than he had been a couple of hours ago. With him were his children, or rather his inanimate objects that would someday become children.

It was all rather hard to believe and most of the time he chose not to, but in the past week the scratched record left in his care had begun... talking to him. Since he had no way of finding the underwater office building where the record had come from, he chose instead to sit outside the bank. After all, these places that handed out everyday items possessed by kids were all the same, right?

Russell smacked his lips. It was warm out and he was thirsty. He stood up, clutching his broom, axe and record to his chest, and looked around for somewhere to get a drink.

Flamefire123
"Shhh, Merric, shhhhh" Flame heticly tried to calm the baby down. His insentint crying is what finally drove her out of the house and away from Victor. She knew the french man was getting sick of hearing Merric wail, truthfully so was Flame but not even his favorite toy, the gold coin she used to get him to emerge would calm him. So she just tried in vain to calm him down herself. He neded a distraction, something to make him forget what ever it was that was making him cry. She wished she could know, if she knew then she could try to fix it. But he wasn't hungry, he had a fresh diaper on, he just woke up from a nap...

"Merric, please calm down" she begged him, hugging the baby close as she walked down the street, her feet unconciously taking her to the PLC. She hadn't gone there since she recived Merric, she remembered being told that she would be called there after he was a baby but she never fo the message, and since her last visit had been less then pleasnt she was more then happy to avoid the place"

Smerdle
Off to his right, Russell heard a baby crying. He had already moved to intercept the woman and her pissed-off spawn before realizing that there was probably nothing he could do to help her.

"Hey, uh, sorry to bother you," he began. "Do you know anywhere around here where I could get something to drink?" They probably had water in the bank, but he really didn't want to go back in there, seeing as how they were so much help last time.

He followed his question with a quick application of his palm to his forehead. The record was singing again, and he got the distinct impression it was curious about the baby and his mother.

Merric B. Lennox
Flame looked up as suddenly someone decided now would be the perfect time to ask her questions. She felt frazzeled and her eyes landed on the man in front of her. Drink? Oh god now he wanted her to think!? Would his outragious demands never stop?

"No...not right now" she said hoestly, shifting Merric slightly, trying despertly to get a few moments of silence. Just a little peace and quiet so she didn't start crying too. God she felt like such a horrible mother right now. Couldn't even stop her own son's tears.

Merric's gums throbed, they hurt so bad and the paiwouldn't stop, not to mention he hadn't had a new toy in two whole days. It was disgusting. Only that old coin that Mama wouldn't let him chew, so he screamed louder as Ma stoped. How dare she stop moving!? Did he say stop?

Merric peaked open his one good eye, glaring up at his mother then looking over to see what caused them to stop. He still screamed but it was slightly quieter as he saw the man before him. It was a different man then from the man at the house. The man that Ma tried to ignore, the one that gave him the shinny orange thing

Then his eye fell upon the axe. The very...shinny axe. Suddenly the crying stopped and the pirate king reached forward, "Mine!" he demanded, trying to reach the dull but still very dangerous weapon.

Smerdle
Russell was about to apologize and let the woman continue on her way, when the baby stopped crying long enough to demand personal time with Russell's axe. Surely that wasn't a good idea. The tiny blade might not have been particularly sharp, but the three tines that made up the key portion had drawn his blood more than once.

"Um... actually," he began, "this is mine." He smiled at the baby. "But I guess you can see it if I hold this part." Russell held the key out toward Merric, keeping his fingers closed over the pokey end.

Flamefire123
"No!" Merric screamed, "Mine!" he demanded, pudgy hands reaching out and grabin the axe before tuging on it hard, trying to bring the axe to him. No matter how much Flame displined him he still cried out for what was 'his' when ever he wanted. It always embaressed his Ma but Merric didn't care. He wanted the shinny axe.

"No Merric" Flame said with a sigh, but at least he wasn't crying. She reached down and removed Merric's fingers from the shinny if dull metal. "that isn't yours that belongs to the nice man" she explained, then glanced over to the 'nice man'. "If you give him an inch he'll take a mile" the fairy neko warned. "Hell, he takes a mile if you give him squat"

"Hell" Merric repeated. He had the unquic ablity to pick out the swear word anyone said repeat it to his pleasure. "Hell!" he called out again and giggled with an iniante sense that he wasn't suppose to say the word but still reveled in the fact that it rolled so easily down his tounge.

Flame sighed and rubbed her temple. "No Merric" she said werily. "You are n't suppose to say Hell" she lectured, well at least the bad word distracted him from the axe. Flame looked up, eyes pleading that he'd hide the axe now while he had the chance.

Smerdle
Russell, understanding that at this point it was probably best to quit while he was ahead, quickly slipped the small axe into his pocket. He didn't have a problem with letting the kid see it, but he was going to want it back at the end of the day, and he didn't think this particular baby ever gave up what was 'his.'

"He must be fun to have around the house." Russell smirked at the baby's immediate grasp of naughty words. "I'm Russell, and these are my kids, I guess," he said, indicating the scratched record and broom he still held. Of all the things he never thought he would say...

Flamefire123
Flame nodded, "Barels" she said, sounding very tired. She shifted Merric in her arms and pressed some fingers against her head before she realized the man in front of her was still talking. "Hmmm? Oh" she looked down and titled her head at the sight of the broom and then looked up at the building they were in front of.

"Did you...get that broom here?" she asked, her hand reaching down to finger the egg craddeled in her pocket. Dispite the fact that Merric largely ignored the egg he demanded that she take it everywhere. It was something that Flame saw no reason to fight, not when there was so many other things Flame was trying to deal with.

"Hell!" Merric called out again and then was hit lightly, with a sharp, "no!" after it. His face screwed up as he suddenly started to cry again, his mother only sighed though. he deserved the hit, though this whole thing was getting on his nerves. He was tired of crying. He wanted to do something.

Smerdle
Russell looked at the baby in Flame's arms with a sense of dread. That Prosper Reed character had told him all about his new little bundle of joy, but if this kid was what he had to look forward to... He wondered if anyone would notice if he set a few things on fire in the back of his apartment complex tonight.

"Yeah, I did," he said finally. "They told me it was going to be a baby someday. Did Merric come from here too?"

Flamefire123
Flame noded as she rocked Merric back and forth, she'd let him cry for a bit longer and then bring out his coin. She just wanted him to forget why he was crying. Then the coin would normally calm him down, and she shined it last night so it was shinny again, and since Flame was starting to wonder if maybe Meric was teething she was keepoing it cool.

"Yes" Flame said, over the crying, "He's Blackbeard, or from Blackbeard's sword...I think" the hassled cat pressed back some hair. "It's a little confusing. I'm basing this off of a story my adoptive grandfather told me and he was a little cocuko but whatever" Flame shrugged, "I always trusted him before."

There! Flame brought out the coin, pressing the cold metal into the boy's hands and slowly the crying started to fade away.

Merric felt the cold in his hand, something hard and chilly. He alowed one eye to open in midtantrum and let out a squeal of glee! It was his treasure! He quickly stoped crying and brought the coin to his mouth, knawing on the thing Flame cleaned daily because he was always chewing it. The bitter cold felt intresting against his gums, soon numbing it and making that pain go away. Soon Merric was not only calm, he was asleep.

Smerdle
Russell watched as Merric chewed the coin, waiting until he was asleep before continuing the conversation. "What's in that thing?" he whispered, clearly not understanding the concept behind teething at all.

Suddenly, as so many things were these days, the voice in Russell's head started its singsong whisper again. He squeezed his eyes shut for a second before saying, "Blackbeard? Really?" There had been a mention of the Sorcerer's Apprentice right before he had chosen to ignore what those stupid bank people were saying to him, but he didn't know what this fantasy stuff could have to do with a flesh-and-blood baby. But then again, there was a record talking in his head, so who was he to judge?

Flamefire123
"Oh nothing" Flame smiled down at her cute baby, rocking him slightly. "He was just tired, I think he's starting to teeth, so I just froze his favorite item, this gold coin so he can put it into his mouth and numb his gums. I'll need to get something for him, and then he'll be calmer" she asured him lovingly. She loved her son, and having a child again, even if he did wear her out at times.

"Mmmhmm, I think Blackbeard, at least it makes sense. Merric came from a rusted old cutlass. I'm surpised I got it. I mean I'm not even really blood related to the man who put it in but no one else in my adoptive family wants a child so I'm happy to take him. "Do you know what your broom is related too?" Flame asked intrested, not wanting to contrate the conversation around her.

Smerdle
"Oh." Teeth. He had forgotten. Russell supposed he had better stock up on some baby things before this thing manifested.

"The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I'm not really sure who left this for me, or why it didn't go to my sister, actually. She's older." He really should look into that.

"Am I keeping you from something?" he asked. His head was beginning to hurt and he didn't want to start talking to himself like a crazy person in front of this perfectly nice cat-woman-person. Russell pressed the record to his stomach, but since it couldn't really be smothered, it continued singing.

Flamefire123
"Maybe this one wanted you" Flame told him softly. She rocked Merric and smiled at him. She was sure Merric wanted her. better then anyone in her adoptive family. She was so glad that she had this boy. Maybe her life was overly stressful, maybe sometimes she felt ready to burst, maybe sometiems she begged for a hint of relaxtion but it was worth it. She was a mom.

"Sorcers's apprentice? How intresting" Flame told him honestly, and gave him a smile, "Oh no, don't worry, but if you would like to go don't feel obliged to stay here. I was just taking a walk in hopes of calming down Merric, and look it worked"

Smerdle
Hmm. He nodded at that, thinking it over. The last time he had seen his sister had been a couple of years ago, and she was not the type to take care of a kid. Neither was he, but at least he wasn't a flake who couldn't hold a job. "You're probably right." It would mean he would have to try his best at raising this kid, but he had never really planned on doing anything else.

Russell smiled at the sleeping infant. "I'll have to remember to try taking a walk if mine cries a lot," he said.

He pressed his fingers to his forehead as the tinny voice got to the chorus again. "I'm sorry. I'm really glad I met you and Merric, but I've got to get home. Take some aspirin or a nap or something. Do you have a phone?" It was a slightly odd question, but Russell kind of wanted to be able to get in touch with Flame again once his own strange Legacy had arrived. "A phone number, actually."

Flamefire123
Flame laughed at the question, "Yes to both questions" she asured him, and whifted Merric so she had on hand free, she reached though her pocket, till she found what she was seaking. A bussiness card, Sora had odd moments and demand Flame make them. Still it was useful now and then, she had her home and work number on their incase anyone at Ruesaiah needed her.

"Here" she offered, "My boss made me make these a while ago, nice to know they're comming in handy" she told him with a smile, the card told of the breedables shop where she worked, Ruesaiah, and her postion as co-owner there. "It's labeled for work and home" she explained, "I like the gaurdians of Ruesaians to be able to reach me when ever they have problems. You can do the same. I've been part of the breedables scene for a while now, I know alot of basic stuff, and I'm always willing to put in my two cents"

Smerdle
"Thank you," Russell said, pocketing the card. He rummaged around his person, feeling for a scrap of paper he might have on him by accident, but there was nothing. "I'll call you soon and give you my number too. If you've got caller ID, mine's the only one I know that starts with 666." His grin turned into a wince.

"I'd better go." He felt his pocket to make sure he still had the tiny axe and turned to go, waving briefly at Flame and the sleeping Merric with the hand that wasn't clasping his kids to his chest.

Flamefire123
"Hey no problem Russell" Flame asured him, "I love to help when i can and trust me, I understand how you felt. I was rooming with a vetern breedable gaurdian when I had my first and it was such a relif. I can't offer you a place to live but I can offer you help when you need it" she told him.

Flame smiled and laughed at his number start, "That's intresting" she said softly, then waved as he walked off, "See you later Russell, hope to hear from you soon" she then looked down at Merric, "Come on sleepy boy, we have some shopping to do"

Helping Hand

Flame leaned against the door frame as she looked into the child's room. The average room of a baby it was not with the pirate flag and rusty sword hanging on the wall. Or the bird's nest complete with warming lamp and egg. Or the fact that the baby was chewing on a gold coin instead of a teething ring while he slept but Flame smiled. It was her baby's. She was glad she figured out why merric was being so whiney lately, now that she had that figured out she knew how to help him but for now...Flame was tired, just a quick journal entry, and then bed.

She turned and headed to her bedroom, walking inside and closing the door. The neko woman grabed her journal and flipped though to a fresh page. Sitting down to look out the window a bit, reflect over the day, decide what she wanted to write, then she dated the paper.

October 13th, 2006

It's been a while since I wrote, not much seemed to be worth noting down really. Lots of little things have been happening, nothing bit. Nomie is still a crystal but I belive she's ready for a new growth. Sora has her now, to help repostion her soul. Soon we'll have another baby in this house, it will be wonderful. I wonder how Victor will take it, he isn't handling meric's bad moods very well. Even if he has been having alot of them lately.

That's simple really, he's teething, no problem though, I figured it out today and so I started to freeze his gold coin, I also got some teething rings and numb its for his gums while out today. I can't make the pain go away, and God knows I want to, but I'll do what ever is in my power to lessen it. He likes the gold coin best, no surpise their. I've been thinking of getting a treasure chest and when I hae a spare gold now and then throw it in. Then when he gets older he can work for the gold. My little pirate.

Oh, while out today I met an intresting man. He aparently also has a PLC. A little axe and very old looking broom. You know, a broom like you expect a witch to ride. He says it has to do with Sorcer's Apprentice or something like that. I'm not entirely sure who that is but I can geuss. That sounds like a real intresting PLC. Merric was of course entraced with the axe, as it was shinny, but I couldn't let him play with it though, the blade might of been dull but their was these spikes that the end that weren't. Besides a dull blade can do damange too.

Anyway, shortly after that Merric freaked out again and I decided I would try the coin. It worked like a charm, much to my headache's relif, and I was able to talk with the man, Russell, for a bit before he had to leave. He also had a record with him, one that he kept on pressing against his chest. I think it is also is a breedable, one from a record sounds neat.

He seemed a bit lost though, with his record and broom. So I gave him my number so he could call in case he had questions, I remember how much D-chan helped me with my first breedables. Boy I was different then, no problem though. I was happy to do the same to someone else. I helped Victor but that was different. Nothing should happen between us once he has his PLC, and I'll be glad to help.

Oh, wow, this is a short entry but I'm tired tonight, so I belive it is time fore me to go. I need some sleep, Merric has been waking up early lately.

Flame

The cat woman yawned and leaned back. She closed her journal and rose. She changed for bed, brushed and braided her hair and then walked over to the door for a moment, to make sure Merric wasn't crying, then finally went to bed. She curled up in her covers and droped out like a light. She didn't even have time to smile over the day.

Merric B. Lennox
Flame had left in a hurry. When the note said right now she didn't have time to pack a baby bag for Merric or call a babysitter. Plus in the early morning it wasn't like many would be willing to come anyway, so that left Flame with one option for her baby pirate. There was, after all, one man still in the house when she was gone. Too bad that man hit one of her children already and openly hated the pirate king. Just as Merric openly hated him back. But he could watch Merric and he must.

Flame pounded on his door before finally opening it, not really caring what she saw. After all she saw it all before,

"I have to go" she told the sleepy french man, "You're watching Merric. He's still asleep but will be up soon. I expect you to feed him, change him and entertain him till I get back. I have no time to get anyone else otherwise I wouldn't be comming to you" Flame said quickly, throwing down the note she wrote that said the same thing. "I'll be back as soon as I can" she promised and turned to leave, stoped and looked back at Victor. "If you do a good job I'll do you one favor, and that doesn't inculde sex or becoming your girlfriend again" she added quickly, then did leave, the sound of a closing door soon marking her exit.

Happyzac
He hadn't even wiped the crust from his eyes by the time Flame had entered, ordered, and left. The only two words that his mind even caught were 'Merric' and 'sex,' and that was ******** nasty. Victor gave his neck a swift turn so that a loud crack signaling the popping of it's joints emerged, and then wiped his eyes clean before grabbing for his plain off-white tshirt off the nearby chair back. It certainly wasn't glamorous, but the French man had actually taken quite a preference to sleeping shirtless in black sweatpants with the Durem University logo on the top right leg. Go figure.

The note was written in a 'what-the-hell-it's-only-for-Victor-anyways' fashion, meaning that it was scrawled down in a hurry. "Tch, Flame, you're going to ruin your beautiful nails if you don't take your time while writing," he commented to the empty room. After a quick scan, Victor realized that this particular morning was going to be absolute hell. He slipped into the shirt and wandered his way into the hall, mentally preparing himself for the little brat.

Merric B. Lennox
Merric was unaware that his almost dotting mother was gone, leaving him with the glaring man. Merric didn't like Victor, or more aptly he loved to torture Victor. Some part of his baby mind sensed that Victor was struggling to win his mom. And Merric, being the self absored vain thing that he is, wasn't too fond of the idea of his mom spending attention on anyone but him. At least right now. Maybe later he'd find a use for Victor's feelings but now they were only in the way. And will be treated as all things that are in the priate king's way.

He'll crush them.

For now though the pirate king was sleeping, curled up in his crib as the first pangs of hunger started to reach his belly. He turned quickly in his crib as he opened his mouth, still mostly asleep, for his first lusty wail. Blessed with a good set of lungs the cries echoed though out the house.

Feed me! they demanded of everyone in hearing distence. Feed me now!

Happyzac
Victor's heart stopped when he heard the first scream. He didn't care much for Merric, but he didn't want the b*****d to die on his watch either. Flame would never forgive him if she came home to a dead pirate baby. His first instinct was to start bolting towards the room, but an aptly placed wall saw fit to remind the man of the 'no running in the house' rule. Damn, Victor just had that horrible talent of smashing into ******** up, kid." It certainly put him in no mood to deal with Merric. Victor continued to string curses at the child as he entered the nursery while rubbing his temples. The crying was giving him a massive headache. The man had no experience with infants, so he had no idea that all Merric wanted was food. "Look, are you hurt or something?"

Merric B. Lennox
He also aparently forgot that Merric couldn't really forget. He tend to just repeat single words. The only words he tended to say on his own was 'Mine' and a few other. Mostly mine but since there was nothing for Merric to claim he just continued to let out large, screaming crys.

Merric's good eye opened slightly though. That wasn't his mother's voice. That was something else. He saw with anoyence that it wasn't his warm loving mother who knew what he wanted but that anoying man. Who said he could be there?

Happyzac
With an aggravated sigh Victor lifted the baby from the crib, holding him quite improperly by the armpits with a revolted look on his face. The man obviously was not a 'baby person.' He figured he'd never need to be; his last child came to him as a child, why shouldn't Mie? This little one really wasn't his problem.

Victor lightly shook the baby in an attempt to shut him up. He really had no clue as to what he was doing, and his upper lip stayed curled in a disgusted manner.

Flamefire123
Merric was not amused the frenchman's way of handling his problem. For one short moment Merric actually stoped crying and sent Victor a look of sugh haughty contempt it was hillarious to see it on such a young and innocent looking baby, especailly since one of his eyes was blank and deviod of emtion, (like normal).

Then the cries started up again, fast, and loud and Merric kicked his legs and sent his tiny fists flying. He wanted food! He wanted food now!

Happyzac
Victor made sure to extend his arms so that the bundle of joy evil would not hit him. His shaking became more violent, and he felt as if he wanted to toss the babe right into a wall... actually, at this point, that might not have been such a bad idea.

"What do you want?!" As he asked Merric a plea of exhaustion, the French man's stomach started to wine for food. Ah well, he could take care of the baby after he got some grub. Hell, he could feed the little a*****e while he was at it and get one more 'chore' out of the way.

He couldn't possibly hold his arms out and walk at the same time, so Victor was stuck pulling his arms, and Merric, back towards his chest. This meant getting hit by a barrange of strangely-powerful smacks as he tried to maneuver his way down the stairs. Once he made it into the kitchen, he plunked the infant into the highchair and began to root through the fridge.

Flamefire123
Merric was not enjoying the way he was being treated. Flame always pulled him close, handing him his coin (which always shut him up for a little bit) and then quickly headed downstaits to feed him. Victor though, he held Merric so far away, he didn't even try to bribe him with something shiney. And that was just sad. Every king deserved tribute, especaily a priate king.

Instead Victor just yells and shook the baby, causing his wails to increase ever louder, demanding tribuite, demaning payment, demanding his due. He was Merric! He was great! He was wonderful! And he would get. What. He. Wanted. NOW!

Tiny fists and short legs pounding the frenchman mercilessly when he was finally pulled close. Though as soon as he was despoisted Merric was no more pleased then he was in Victor's arms. Only now he bounded the chair instead of the man. So there was at least some improvement.

"FOOD!" Merric screamed at last, a single word, echoing his single most desire right now. "Mama Food!"

Happyzac
"Fine, if it will shut you up." Victor grabbed a can of baby food from the fridge door and placed it on the high chair's tray. He wasn't ready to try feeding a baby; he was only in his twenties... that's way too early for this kind of crap.

The putrid smell and mushy composition of the baby food caused Victor to snicker at the pirate (after gagging from the instant disgust that the mush gave him). He grabbed the tiny infant-made spoon and dipped it into the squishy goo before lifting it to Merric's mouth. "Here, eat."

Merric B. Lennox
Merric wasn't pleased with Victor's additude though as he pushed the spoon back at the man, seeming to almost aim at his shirt. He was hungry but he didn't want THAT crap. He wanted some milk, also some oatmeal like Flame made for him. Oatmeal that Flame hide the mush in after being splated with it a few times. Of course Victor didn't know that.

"No! No! No! Food!" he screamed, pounding the hi chair harder as he started to really throw a fit, throwing his body side to side, almost tipping the high chair over. He enver acted this way around Flame. oh sure threw tanturms but Flame never let them get this far.

Happyzac
"DAMNIT!" His howl of displeasure rang throughout the house as the gooey mush cascaded onto his shirt, hair, and the surrounding floor. The man could not keep his previous night's dinner down, and it mixed with the goo on the floor. What a stunning aray of vomit, slime, and cursing.

Victor grabbed the jar of remaining baby food and flipped it over, right over Merric's head.

Flamefire123
Flame felt tired, and she was still a bit shaken from what she saw. Her eyes looked listelessly at the record she found in her hand, her fingers running over it ribed edges. The new markings were beautiful but reminded her of that swaying body, a child's body. It didn't look to be quite a normal child and her ears had picked up the word 'witch' but still...The image haunted her, floating beyond her eyelids, waiting for her to let down that excuse of a sheild she held around her.

The neko woman would trade a year of her life for an hour of quiet to get herself back together, to allow her to get control of her own emtions. A mocha hand reached out to pull open the door and the first word to hit her ears was...

"DAMNIT!"

Merric went extreme quiet for a second as he found himself covered in food. A long second to evaluate the situation as one good eye looked up at Victor with such an adult look hovering in the baby blue. You're on my list that look said. Mercy on your soul

Then the look vanished as she screw up her face and let out a sobing scream once more. Only this scream did what all the others failed to do, though they were intended just for that purpose.

It drew his mom into the room.

Flame stumbled into the room as she heard Merric crying, she looked over at her son, covered in food as her hand was still wraped around the record. She looked at Merric for a long moment, and then over at Victor with such of a look of utter helplessness. A look she never let Victor see before. Then tears started to gather in her eyes as she set the record down and picked up Merric, holding him close to her as she started to sob lightly, the quiet sound turning off Merric's tears almost instently.

Merric wasn't heartless, just a pirate.

Happyzac
"Flame?" He tried to ask her as he began to clean himself off with a towel, but it didn't work as well as he hoped. The food was sticky and crusted; it was just not quite ready to leave the home that it had made on his shirt. He started to use his fingernails in an attempt to try and scratch it off, but Flame's sobbing reminded him that it may be time to act like a gentleman.

"Hey..." His pale hand swept across it's loved one's cheek so that it could gently brush away a loose lock of hair. "Did something happen? Do you want to talk about it? Je suis toujours ici pour vous. Svp entretien à moi. (I'm always here for you. Please talk to me.)" Victor was smart enough to begin a soothing voice with his foreign language--it always clamed Flame down before (whenever he wasn't cursing in French).

Flamefire123
Flame held the baby to her tight, ingoring the drying food that got transvered from the baby to her. She just couldn't seem to stop the tears. The last thing the neko woman wanted was to cry in front of her kid and Victor, but she couldn't stop them. The tears kept on comming now matter how hard she was trying to stop them.

She couldn't handle this right now. She couldn't handle Victor, she couldn't handle Merric, she couldn't handle life. That image of the swinging child was still burned into her mind, and those people chanting, cheering at the child's death. Witch Spawn the voice chanted in her mind, melding with a different voice a young one Cat freak.

"Milk" she said softly, her voice was weak, tired and watery. "Merric wants milk, mixed with oatmeal, then you put a little of the mushed vetagables in" her arms held Merric tighter who was staying quiet, just watching his mother with big wide eyes.

Happyzac
Damnit, she just had to cry… she just had to ******** cry in front of him. Victor was, obviously, a sucker for the tears of women. Usually it was in the I-scratch-your-back-you-scratch-mine mindset, but for Flame, it was much different; he just set off to do exactly what was asked of him without any argument.

It took him about ten minutes or so to prepare Merric's meal, and he did it in complete silence. Part of him was afraid that he'd say something to hurt Flame even more, and the other half of him really just didn't know what to say. The oatmeal was beige and runny—just as it was supposed to look; the added milk just made it runnier. Victor ended up having to add a bit more oatmeal to hide the gooey vegetables, though. Overall the process was easier than he expected, and he silently handed the bowel over to her as he awaited further instruction.

This reaction from a woman was so… foreign to Victor. Most of the women he accompanied himself with either yelled with a red face, or collapsed in a bawling heap. Now, bawling is much different than crying, for when someone is bawling it is usually meant for attention; crying is just the sorrows fighting their way out.

Flame wanted to stop, but she just couldn't, she placed the quiet merric into his high char and sat down. She had to collect herself, and because she doubted Victor would leave her alone if she left the room. Besides she couldn't leave them alone again, they might fight agian and then she would have too-

No...no, she had to stop thinking like this. This wasn't going to make her feel better. She just had to push it away, all of it away, just lock it up. The neko straighted her back and gave one last snift as she reached up to wipe away the rest of the tears.

She rose and turned, grabing Victor's oatmeal mix, giving a far to brisk "Thanks". If one looked deep into her eyes they could see the tears swarming right under that thin sheild she manged to erect. If one cared they have to push past that sheild.

"Flame...?" Where was the cussing, the dirty looks, or at least the part where his name was said in a distasteful manner? This was definately not normal. Sure Flame was much more emotional than most of the women Victor associated himself with, but really, this was getting bothersome. At this rate, he wouldn't be getting that special favor she promised him (it never occured to him that he sucked to much at babysittying that his skills already ruined his chance).

"Hey... did something happen?" Victor strided over in a calm manner and wrapped his arms around Flame's wasit as she fed Merric (he always loved holding women from behind). He placed his head in the crook of her neck and smiled. "Come on... you can talk to me about it." His embrace tightened and he tried to give a small 'serisouly, I'm here to help you out' smile.

Flame stiffened at the touch, and as she grabed the spoon and tried to bring it to the hungry pirate's mouth but the spoon keep trembling and the food quickly lept away from the mouth. Flame tried three times before she realized just how bad her hands were shaking. So she closed her eyes and broke free of Victor's embrace shoving the food into his hands before she sat down again, tears starting to whell once more.

She couldn't continue like this. This was completely unlike the neko fairy to be this...out of control. Flame learned control from her step family, and she used it daily, especailly around Victor. There was a reason why Flame was the one always hovering around near the front. She could deal with the people that came in.

But now she couldn't even deal with herself. She needed...she needed...She needed that hug she just broke away from. Flame felt the tears rise and spill over her cheeks again as she burried her head into her arms.

"They killed a child" she finally admited. "Hung her, right in front of me. I couldn't help...I couldn't help"

Even though he was somewhat used to it, his eyes widened and then tightly shut in anger, displeasure, embarrassment when Flame left his arms. He was trying to comfort her here... shouldn't she at least acknowledge that? It's like, come on, she has a famous (ex)supermodel who women were dying to be with. This just wasn't right? What did he need to do to get into a woman's pants around here? Hell, Flame was actually just making things harder for her; getting laid would just be the perfect place to use her her misplaced aggression, sorrow, and energy. Right? Love making was just the perfect thing ever... EVER.

The tangent in his mind suddenly ended at Flame's last statement. Victor dropped the bowl of food that was just handed to him, and he opened his eyes--this time with a scowl that just proved absolutely how pissed he really was. Sure he could be a jerk-off sometimes and was irked by children, but that never meant he wanted to kill them (except for Merric, but that was completely different). Who in the right mind would kill a child? An innocent? "Who did? Where did you go? Was it that place you said you're getting your next kid from? Why did they do that? I... You..." His fist slammed down on the tray of Merric's highchair as the thought of such an evil deed ran through his mind. "Come on, we're going. No one's getting away with that."

Flamefire123
Flame jerked up and looked over at Victor with wide surpised eyes. It was that slam on the tabel that managed to break her out of that circle that she didn't manage to break herself out of. She stared at Victor for a long moment, realizing his emtions were genuine. He may of hit Ranger but Ranger was also a man when Victor did it. And no matter how many flaws he had (and god did he have alot) Flame never seen him actually abuse a child.

"No..wait." she said softly, "It wasn't how I made it sound. I mean..." she reached over and picked up the record, showing it to Victor. The black record looked like a kid got ahold of it with it's scratches of orange around the interesting marks of red.

"The guy, the one who met me, he played the record and I sat to listen. These images started to appear though, of a tree, and a child, a group of...villagers like people, you know? They were chanting about witches I think, I couldn't really hear them, and they hung the child. I tried...I really did try to get up but I couldn't" Flame's hand, which had been steady when she grabbed the record, started to shake again as her voice was slipping back into the grief filled state.

Victor snatched the record out of Flame's hand after hearing her story, almost as if he were trying to prevent it from doing anything else to her. His eyes scanned the record as he flipped it over so that he could properly see both sides. "Well... it's not a very pretty thing now is it? I mean... look at it. It's got these ugly scratches everywhere." He set the record down on the table, but he made just it was out of Flame's immediate reach. She could still get it if she walked to it, but for now he wanted to seperate her from the item in question.

His eyes softened when he saw Flame starting to sink back towards depression. He reached out a comforting hand and placed it on her head; this time he didn't even try to hug or kiss her, he'd let her come to him if she needed it. "Hey... hey now... it'll be okay. It wasn't real... I'm sure the little kid will be just find. Maybe it's just showing you that the kid you're gonna get needs some extra love to be happy, and you're the perfect mom to give them that."

Flamefire123
Flame looked up at Victor with surpise in her eyes. He's never acted like this before. So...sturdy, so comforting, so...willing to just be here for her in her hour of need. For the longest time he always wanted attention drawn to him. It was what he demanded and in the end Flame didn't mind, it was what she did, give attention to those she loved.

But now...now victor was standing there, firm, strong in her single moment she was weak. She gave a soft smile and rose, moving over to give him a tight hug, a friendly hug, as she rested her head on his shoulder for a moment. It had been so long since she could lean on anyone, she wanted to enjoy it.

"Thank you Victor" she whispered, "You are right, I will take good care of this child, and any other I am blessed with."

Happyzac
Maybe it was hormones. Maybe it was a slip-up. Maybe he was just a friggin’ idiot. Whichever it was, Victor completely ruined his chances with the only woman that, as of right now, saw through his horrid parts to see the good inside of him. At first he felt a warm fuzzy feeling that told him he did some real good. Then, that fuzzy feeling start to spread, though, all the way down to his pants. A smirk took the place of his comforting smile, and he leaned his mouth closer to Flame’s ear. His embrace on her tightened, and his hands started to wander from her back down. “Yeah, and then you can take care of me…”

Flamefire123
Ever romance declined, it took Flame a moment to realize what Victor was implying, then she pulled back quickly and did the most female thing she had ever done in her life. She slaped him clear across the face, hard. It was lucky for him she decided to keep her claws in, as then he would of had some scratches that might of scared. God knows what that would of done to his ego.

"You selfish b*****d" she groweled, turning quickly to grab her child and her record. "I can't believe for a moment I was actually thinking for forgiving you. You horny excuse of a man. I swear you're worse then a teenage boy" she groweled at him. "Clean up this kitchen!" she snapped, pulling Merric close to her and storming out.

Confused but still quiet Merric had watched everything with a wide eye. He didn't like to see his mother upset like she was before, so he (for once in his life) didn't think about himself, or his empty stomache and gave the one thing he could give his mother. Silence. He watched as she and that man talked about something he didn't quite understand, then his mother lower herself to embracing him. He was smirking happily now, grining over Flame's shoulder at Victor, and his reddin cheek.

He may of been unable to say much, or do much but there was doubt that a silent Loser was passing between the pirate and the french man.

Happyzac

All he could do as she walked away was shake his head and laugh. Victor collapsed in a heap by leaning on the counter, continuing to laugh hysterically. "Me? Clean the kitchen?"

Yeah right.

The End of a Very Long Day

Flame was exgausted, she had a roller coller of emtions all day. Up then down, up then down, up then down. She was so sick of this, she was tired and cold, and it had been a very long time since she felt she could relax for a moment. After she took Merric away from the kitchen she had to clean him up. Then she breezed out of there to take him some place to eat.

Once away from the house Merric had started to act like his normal self and that was tireing normally, much less when she was already tired and ready to drop at any moment. As soon as she got him down for a nap she snuck home (trying to avoid Victor) and conked outself. Now Merric was down for the night though and Flame could spend some time relaxing.

The neko reached up to her journal and set it down on the desk she kept in her room. Sitting down Flame also nodded off again but she shook her head and opened her journal grabbing a pen. She was so tired, but she wanted to write what happened down.

November 29th, 2006

The meeting happened today. The meeting about that record I found the other day. It was..tiring to say the least. The images that I saw was desterbingly graphic. I nearly broke down. I was one harsh word away from just utterly breaking down. I did get really close though I have to admit.

What I saw...well simply put it was the image of a child, not a normal child ether, even though I could see it very well I could tell the child wasn't normal, but what they did...what happened to it (I couldn't even tell if it was a girl or boy). These people, they were chanting something I couldn't quite understand. I think it was witch, it wouldn't work if it was actually b***h. But I am pretty sure it was witch or witch-spawn. But what happened...they...these people, villagers I think, they hung her...

And I couldn't...couldn't help I just-

A tear droped down on the paper, staining the last of her words as more drops of sadness fell on the pages. Flame pulled back, and closed the book, moving away from it, and the images that were now racing though her head. Slow, hard sobs racked her body as she wished, really wished, that Victor hadn't made that last move on her.

She could really use someone she could trust right now.
