I like 'meatbag' myself...but I played KOTOR 2 so I'm biased.

I played KOTOR 1, but the meatbag reference still rocks.

Yeah, I go with "Meatbag", "Fleshy", or just simply "Stupid human".

You could always go with "Refpulsive tuft of rectal pubic hair". I think that works for just about any enocounter.

Yeah. A lot of them tend to not like that. I myself could care less at times, but it is kind of annoying getting confused with another race after being asked 1mil+ times "Are you a Mexican?", or just being flat out called one 1mil+ times. :[ I CAME FROM AN ISLAND DAMNIT. >:[ MY s**c a** TOOK A BOAT.

Or because for the most part they're white, and not one of the groups that has historically been opressed by white people.
Jews?
Christians?
Irish?

Especially the last one. Irish got oppressed as ******** when they came to America. They were our new slave labor.

"I'm not Mexican. They're from Mexico. I'm Puerto Rican, I'm from New York"

LMAO.
Yes...
And the irony, Setz, is that the Irish oppressed the new immigrants a couple generations later. =)

If I remember my history right. =O

Yep. But it still seems that I might have a leg to stand on bitching about how I deserve reparations for all those "Irish need not apply" signs.

It just proves that people, regardless of race, suck.

Granfalloon is my all time favourite fake word, evar.

But, uhm. I think these days it's more of an, "WHAT OTHR PPL THINK OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!" thing.

People aren't so concentrated on whether or not they're actually racist but if they SOUND racist. ufkdhsdkjfhsiurheiu

What blows my mind is that so many people (and in some cases even myself) make fun of ppl frum tha hills when most of those same people are the decendants of indentured servants who back in the time of slavery were pretty much treated with the same amount of respects that the slaves got.

But that's OK, 'cos they're white. Rite? lol silly rednecks

Watched too much VH1 back in February, did we?

fomg
The British tried to wipe my people out!
Then we were used for menial labor at below-living wages when we came to America! Many of us DIED building railroads and working in mines, and our families were left to fend for themselves! We had nowhere else to go. There was a potato famine! Irish can't live without potatoes!
And now, look at all the b***h-a** punks who want to be Irish. I see black people walking around on St. Patty's day claiming Irish heritage? WTF?
We deserve acknowledgement for our suffering, dammit!

Well, it's considered good luck to buy an Irish American a drink on St. Patrick's Day. Maybe we should make up a St. Shaniqua's Day and make it traditional to buy an African American a piece of clunky jewelry?

There has always been a double standard with this type of thing. For instance, if a white man were to beat up a white man it is battery. If a white man were to beat up a black man it is a hate crime. The main reason why people [in the states] are so uptight about being racist to black people is because of the trade slaves and civil war history. Most people over look what has happened to the rest of the general population of imigrants when they came to America. The only solution to this is to not be predjuduce against anyone.

From a Christian standpoint- It says in the bible that God loves everyone. There is no reason to discriminate anyone.

Something I find funny about the racism with people with different skin color; the pigment that colors your skin is the same pigment that colors your eyes. Not to mention it's only there to protect your skin against the sun.

That's.. wrong on so many levels...yet I find it hysterical.

I dunno. Me? I'm scottish and Native American and a tiny bit french cajun.

So, you have Scotland, who, if any of you've ever seen Trainspotting, there's a fantastic monologue on being proud of being scottish that sums it up. Then you have Native American, where my "people" were shoved on to reservations simply cause they took care of the land instaed of milking it dry, and French Cajun and since we came from Canada AND were french, they were generally reviled.

So yay, nary a popular person in my heritage. But ... on the subject, I try not to... call anybody anything. I don't like the "n" word simply because there are better words and like it or not, it does carry a negative connoation if I say it. So I just use other, less...inflammatory words. I don't know why some terms are offensive, but I have a hunch it was originally the tone and way they were said. Just like any cuss word. ******** dind't become a cuss word because dainty women ran around saying it. I have a hunch that if nobody had looked at a black person and called them "******" in a tone that conveyed hate and digust, it wouldn't be a epithet today. But it is, and while yes, at some point we need to move on and get past history, it wasn't that long ago that we had "seperate but equal." My parents were both in school when desegregation happened so my generation is really the first to not have some major civil rights action.

Because of that I can understand a parent of my parent's generation taking offense to someone calling them or their child a derogative name and teaching their child to be upset too. For them it's not in the past really. And racism is still alive. My mom's side of the family seems intent on keeping it that way too. I was talking to my nana's new husband about their neighborhood, and I asked him if the neighbors were all nice, and he made a point of telling me that he had some "black neighbors that were just as nice as could be. They never cause any trouble, and are hardworking people." He didn't say anything about his white neighbors and what their skin tone was, or how they worked. It's just a mentality for those generations... it's not dead yet. And so I can understand why you don't call someone a ******. Maybe in another 50 years it'll be okay, but I think wounds are still too fresh.

For other races/cultures...I dunno. If someone's italian, I just say they're italian. Me? I'm a white girl. I'll make fun of myself. But I try not to label people that way. Heritage is heritage. It make us who we are, and you can't choose it. There are certain things I find amusing about various cultures, like the very creative names that I heard when I was in the projects in Chicago a few years ago. Lots of LaQueshias, and LaShawndas. Every culture and race has it's standout features.

But I think what really bothers people is generalization. It's when you stop looking at the individual and start seeing the negative sides of their culture. It's when you look at a black man and immediately you fear that you're going to be mugged, or when you see a white person and you think that all they care about is money and power and taking things that don't belong to them. Or when you look at a native american, and you think they they live in a tipi and are drunk all the time. It's the stereotypes and the generalizations that get to most people.

Meh. I Just think there are better ways of referring to people than ways that could potentially be derogatory.
