"I-it's kind of difficult if you don't have special equiptment for it, because some people who eventually learn magic have to work at it for years before they can manage any effect." Kaleb seemed to talk easier when he was talking about magic, it was something he knew well enough not to be so nervous about. "There are exercises you could try though."

Ais nodded, listening intently as she learned something knew, finding it fascinating. It also was rather nice to see her companion a bit more relaxed, even though she understood his nervousness. "Really? Such as...?"

"Breathing exercises, mental imagery, meditation, different exercises work best for different people." Kaleb smiled, and then squeaked a bit as one foot slipped. He kept his balance though, and blushed. "I-it's easier once you know what you are looking for."

Ais quickly moved to catch Kaleb's elbow when he slipped, eyes widening in alarm, before she smiled shyly and waited to make sure he was okay before letting go. "I'll have to look into it... it would be wonderful if I found out I had the same abilities..." she sighed, a dreamy expression on her face for a moment.

Kaleb grinned. "It might be something worth doing, but it takes a lot of practice and effort to get good at it." He paused to step over a patch of ice, but as they left the park and got further into the city the patches of ice were often broken up by road salt.

Ais was relieved to see the ice broken up and further dispersed - thus, less likely to cause them some sort of harm. "I'll have to keep that in mind and see what I can do... it would be amazing to find out I'm capable of such things," she said, laughing sheepishly.

Kaleb nodded, remembering the first time he had discovered he had some natural talent for magic. It was more startling than amazing at that point, but that discovery had allowed him to continue in some way in the medical field and that had been the amazing part, considering his weakness. "It would be pretty amazing," he agreed.

Ais nodded once, before falling into a thoughtful silence. Finally, she laughed shyly and looked up at Kaleb. "I'm at a loss as to what to say... so... why don't you tell me more about yourself? If... if that's okay for me to ask."

Kaleb blushed brightly, but he nodded. "I-it's okay to ask, I-I'm just not the most interesting person to answer such a question..." He nervously rubbed at one arm, trying to think of what would be worth saying and coming up blank. "I don't really think there's anything noteworthy to say about myself, between my magic and work I don't have time for a lot of other things." He smiled apologetically, still blushing.

Ais looked a bit surprised when he blushed, before smiling warmly and reaching up to touch his arm lightly. "You seem interesting to me," she told him, trying to encourage him to speak about himself a bit. She was curious about this other Audio, wanting to learn more. "Well... you have a book with you. What sorts of books do you like to read?"

It seemed there would be no end to the flattery, and Kaleb had to duck his head a bit so his companion didn't see his blush as he adjusted his glasses. "I-I mostly read texts about magical techniques and theorems, a-and scientific journals. I-I have a lot to study, especially now that I have access to advanced material..." he trailed off a bit, stopping himself before he started rambling. There was so much for him to read through and learn that it was a wonder he set his books down long enough to eat and sleep.

"All work and no play?" asked Ais playfully, flashing a smile up at Kaleb, eyes softening when she saw the blush on his cheeks. He seemed so easily embarrassed... it was rather endearing. "I'm more of a fiction girl, myself. I like to get away from reality a little bit when I read."

Kaleb smiled back, feeling a little less nervous now that the other seemed to take the lead in the conversation. "I-I don't have a lot of experience with fiction," he said, fidgeting a bit. "B-but that doesn't mean my reading is always work." He really enjoyed his studies, particularly working through the challenges that were thrown his way, discovering new elements, and finding ways to improve existing spells.

"I suppose that could be true, yes." Ais smiled, nodding once and looking around slowly as they made their way down the sidewalk, taking in the rather fascinating sights all around. "If you enjoy what you're reading, it's never work... That's how it is for your reading, right?" she said, smiling warmly to her companion.

Kaleb nodded, that was exactly it. "My studies are... very important to me, I don't mind working all the time if that's what my reading really is." He was glad his companion seemed to be enjoying the walk, since he didn't have to feel as stressed over it.
