My store has in it's possession Pokemon Sapphire. It's from the back room though, so it's up for grabs!

Bad news though. The reason it's in the back room? Upon booting up, I'm notified that the internal clock has run dry! So time-based events will no longer occur!
Should I take it to play, or do you think my Sapphire experience (and by extension, my Diamond experience) will be soured?

Do you think I'm better off getting a sealed version? (My store has Emerald sealed. Which legendaries are in that?)

I'd go for the sealed- time based events sound like too much fun. O:

Eh, time based events are alright, but since there is a new one coming out so soon it's probably not a big deal.

Uhhh, I played Red, Blue, Yellow, and Silver.
Never beat any of them.
Though Silver was the one I played most.
I lost interest (unfortunately...?) after a few months.

I did demand my Pokemon games back from my little cousin not too long ago.
Hahahaha.
God did I feel like a loser asking for them.
I never did play them again though.

I believe there were methods of fixing that issue with Sapphire by connecting it with Emerald to download a patch for it. Best to look up for information on this, as I don't remember it all. sweatdrop

Although if you were to get Emerald instead of Sapphire, I would recommend this anyways, as you wouldn't have to worry about version exclusive legendaries since you can get both Groudon and Kyogre in Emerald. If you got Sapphire you would just get Kyogre.

This would be much better, in my opinion, as you could always look for the not-legendary exclusives on Diamond or WiFi if you have to since you can just ask somebody to breed one for you. Being able to breed makes these Pokemon "cheaper" to trade with than the legendaries that you can only get once-per-play-through.

So if you got Emerald, you would only need to play through it twice to get all of the legendary types, since you have to choose which of the Latias/Latios you want to get. Although Emerald also has the only "safe" cloning exploit if you want to just clone things for trade offers.

I hope this makes sense, but Emerald would be the better investment.

I got Emerald, and it seems different enough to make it very worth while over Sapphire. There are a lot more double battles, which is great because that was a great addition to the series (which they strangely didn't focus a lot in R/S)

@ Bloodfairy: The surfing minigame was great fun! xd

So, anybody getting it on Sunday? ninja

Somebody's already challenged me to battle, but I don't think she'll be ready by Sunday evening like she says. neutral

BiG HiNT: Read the manual, read GameFAQs/Serebii, then ask questions/make challenges. xd

Huh, (playing it on an emulator right now) the graphics and sound are surprisingly good for a pokemon game. The characters have pretty good animations in and out of battle, and the touch screen is used well but not overused.

It's kind of fun so far. I might pick it up if I can fix my wireless router.

Yes, I have myself an advance copy, and it definitely shows it's a new generation.

The animations and such definitely have a DS look to them. Gone are simple images and now are in are definitely sharper, 3D-ish things, like bubbles, flames, and leaves.

After playing Emerald for a while, Diamond definitely feels slower. The text in battle don't speed up when you set test speed to high and running feels slower then it did last generation.

I sadly didn't have enough money to reserve a copy or pick it up when it comes out. It'll have to wait two weeks when I get paid again. ;_;

What version does everyone have? I was thinking of getting Pearl, but I don't want to get it if everyone else has it or something.

And diamonds are awesome. They're one of the hardest metals (If not THE hardest metal) known the man.

Since when are diamonds a metal?

I fully intend on getting Diamond when I get paid next/when I can spare the money period. That is, if I can beat my boyfriend into getting Pearl. He said he may just get both which then I told him he's retarded and only needs one 'cos of the WiFi but he's like "eh, I have one of all the other ones, why not these too?" But sure, I'm still gonna get Diamond. biggrin
