I'm buying a DS solely for them, sad, I know. Despite it all though, the pokemon games are still some of the most fun, if not substantial, I've ever played and I've got a lot of fond memories of the series. Hell, in ye olden days before Gaia I was a regular on the Usenet group alt.games.nintendo.pokemon. I'll be buying Diamond, on the arbitrary basis that my girlfriend's birthstone is diamond.
btw, Sandslash ftw.

I don't know, I was into it back during Red/Blue (******** I feel old) but I never stuck with it too far past that. I played Emerald on an emulator but the types branched out a little too far for my liking. I might go for Diamond/Pearl though, since it seems a number of people will play it and the games are still solid overall. I don't plan on it though. I do kind of like that the guy looks like a young Ocelot. "Six pokeballs, more than enough to kill anything that moves."
Also, Articuno/Venusaur team FTW. Sleep Powder/Blizzard

I played up until Crystal version. I never was able to get my hands on a GBA, so it stopped there. Like hell I'll be getting a DS, either. >> It would also take me forever to remember all of the new pokemon. I stopped at 250, now there's 400-something, right?
I absolutely loved the time I did have with the games, though. My gold version had about 360 hours of gameplay, I believe. I spent hours hatching eggs spawned by my shiny ditto. I like the eevee evolutions, although they weren't very strong.

kissmekillme Hell, in ye olden days before Gaia I was a regular on the Usenet group alt.games.nintendo.pokemon. Oh god, AGNP. I lurked on that .. I was like, 12. Ohhhh the memories. Anyway, I played Red on my good old Gameboy Color. I remember trading in a few of my dad's old PS1 games that he no longer used/we got for cheeeap, to get the GBC, and then buying Red. I was so happy. I also got Silver when it came out, though I know I was super done with Red when Silver came out, so I guess I had Red for some time before I got Silver. Silver I put my heart and soul into, and I lost it. I still have my GBC and Red laying around somewhere unless I lost them at my mom's old house. I didn't keep up after Silver, though. I picked up FireRed for GBA a while back though, to rekindle old memories. It's much more fun with all the improvements, let me tell you. I'm tempted to restart it since I kinda didn't level my Pokemon enough to where I was in the game, but, I know if I do then I won't want to get D&P and play them. Same reason I don't pick up Emerald, because I know I won't want to play anything else once I get it. <<; I do plan on picking up Diamond though. Ah god, I was such a huge Pokemon nerd. I was big on the TCG too, I kicked a** at it. I still have my old tourney-winning deck and my collection, which I'm sure isn't worth anything now, but is still good memories. Also, I buy a pack of the cards here and there when I get nostalgia, even though I don't play anymore, I think they're still cute. *hides* I feel like a huuuuuge nerd now. XD But it's all good.

AGNP was the reason I got exposed to goatse at 12. <<; I WAS NAIVE SHUT UP. It wasn't directed to me though so at least that's a plus. But yeah, it's safe to say that nothing EVER scarred me after that, rofl.
And hot, I still have my league badges too. I only ever got to .. uh, Rainbow? The fourth one. I joined wayyyyyy late. But it's all good. xd
I used to go to these tournaments that a comic shop held, and I usually always placed in the top three, if not first or second. It was fun~

Customized MewTwo for the win, dunno what'chall talkin about.
Psychic for the sheer power Thunder because he should NOT have that Blizzard for same reasons Recover because it's just damn necessary.
That and 10,000 PPups on every skill. And the 100+ leveling.....
Yup. We're all pretty lame sweatdrop

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the news. More Eevee evolutions? Gooooooddamn!
A leafy one and an ice one. I think that's awfully redundant. Vaporeon can already learn ice attacks. ALL water Pokemon can!
Oh yeah, water pokemon ftw. Hellz yeah. Break out the ice attack tm's and hm 05's! Or was it 04?

Even more? gonk And yeah, Ice is redundant. If it was absolutely necessary, I think Flying or Dragon type would have been funny. >_>

I'm considered the expert of Pokemon over at the Gaming Discussion, and it's been pissing me off lately that they'd rather ask me than look up a frickin' website like I do. gonk
I'm a budding metagaming WiFi competitor with advanced knowledge of strategies in Pokemon building and team building. According to some, I know all. According to the true hardcore, I've only just begun. rolleyes
I've owned an import copy of Diamond since October and am increasingly impatient for more people play with (waiting for Rayi, lol). Although the population of Gaia points towards the inevitability that unless they don't conform to my metagame balancing clauses, I will school them all. domokun
As for which one, pick which one on the front you like better. If you don't care and international WiFi trading is a reality, there's a great demand for Palkia in Japan in exchange for whatever the ******** you want. eek
Dude, Setzer. You has the potential to play. domokun Go with Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Softboiled over the last three, and you'd have a fairly popular Mew set. wink

For Advanced Poke-strat and research, it's Azure Heights ftw!
Personally, I like a team of favorites over ubercompetitive lists.

I fortunately have a lot of favorites in the "borderline" (not too tough, not too weak) tier, but like to try team spreads that try to prove "I can make this work, bring it on!"
The team in my signature is like this. Breloom and Arcanine have probably gone up in the tiers, but they aren't commonly picked still. Espeon and Magnezone are up in the air, while Gastrodon and Illumise are experiments in game mechanic changes.
Just today, somebody confirmed my notion of how to use Gastrodon as a Healing Wobbuffet, and makes me proud to have constructed such a well-rounded moveset.

I tend to stick with my favorites, even if they make a team that's 80% weak to electricity (oops), and such. Though I have a few staples that I'll use no matter who says they're weak or not, I can also build a team based on necessity and not favoritism. *shrugs*
Someone get me a WiFi router so I can play with y'all once I get the game. biggrin And someone also give me the strength to finish FireRed, even though I'll have no real use over having it beat, lol.
