Gastrio Olath_Mirshann I think someone needs to explain to me how Rammstein can be nu-metal, and how 'all the songs sound the same.' The only logical explanation I can think of is that those are based on listening to a rather small selection of songs. Some of them might 'feel' the same, but none of them truly 'sound' the same. Consequently, I think they started out as industrial, but have since moved into a genre of their own. I have yet to find any other band that sounds remotely like them. Of course, I haven't actually been looking for any other bands that sound like them.... Anyway. The 'metal with industrial influences' came from here--Around halfway down the page. I was just pulling varying opinions from there, aside from my own. They don't sound the same...., the way they play is maybe the same, the way they play in the verses "only 3 chords" (acctually they do pulls, hammers, slides, etc.) but is an esay way to play, but the effects are really cool, i like that way, and yeah, theirs songs are not the sames, they yes maybe sound like others, but id you know them, you can say wich one in just a few seconds.... those are the true fans... smile xd I can't believe that a guy with ******** Linkin Park in his sig is talking about THAT...

...Well, since I do live in Germany now, I'll be hearing a lot more of their music, rofl. Along with other German artists like Troy.

Oh, okay. You seemed to be talking about that as if it's something bad about the band, and you don't like that. I found that ironic since you had Linkin Park in your sig, but if you don't feel that way, no big deal. My mistake, I misunderstood you.

I don't know what they'd be classified as, and I don't want to sound stupid by trying to classify them. All I wanted to say that even though I've only just gotten into Rammstien, I do love the band. Awesome stuff, especially if you translate some of the lyrics from the new cd Reise Reise (currently the only cd I have). But yeah. Awesome band. And I'm not going to make a fool of myself by trying to identify where they should be categorized, or whatever. TO me they're simply Rammstien. 3nodding

I guess I don't specify past rock in general... sweatdrop

If you MUST label Rammstein use the label they gave themselves. Tanzmetal. Which literally translates from German to English as "Dance Metal"
Though German, German Metal, Metal-Techno Hybrid, and myriad other sub-classifications would suffice.... I for one think they came as close as anyone in labelling their music themselves.

German metal...wouldn't say industrial bc that brings to mind Ministry, skinny puppy and einstern neubaten...they really aren't creative enough I don't think...mostly just loud and not in english which makes em sound sorta industrial I guess...ahem...they're ok but sorta lacking in nuance

They label themselves as Dance Metal, so as they would want, I'll just call them Dance Metal.
