((Heehee, I guess out horses know each other. Oh, and I changed Lady to a Baron! whee ))
Through the forest Ashiling rode, with her trusty steed beneath her. A faint strain of a familiar tune perked Baron's ears, causing him to paw the earth and snort.
"You hear that too, Baron?" Ashling said, patting his neck in the place pleasing to him. "She can't be too far away now..."
She started to hum the melody, breaking out into song moments later.
"In the glade of the Dark Forest
Keep watch for me...
I swear to it by my sword,
I will return one day
To take you away
To a place of wondrous Glory~"
She entered the opening in the forest at the moment, blinking as she was dazzled by the dying sun reflecting off the lake. Ashling used her parasol to block most of the shine away from her eyes, "Nii? You there?" She clutched Baron to keep herself from falling off.

"Its really good," she said, "Ill have to have you make me this more often.". She took another bite and looked at him, "No other questions? Not about my childhood... or my ride?"."Well I did want to ask you about your ride, but if you don't want to tell me that's fine. It is your own business anyways." He ate a bit of his salad then looked at her. "How about any childhood friends...do you have any? will I get to meet them?"

((Sorry, Set, I went to have a bath but Im back now!! That is...if you still are. confused ))
"Ashling?" Nika stood up abruptly. "Hey!!!" She cried happily, running over to her friend and startling Baron a little. "Woah there, buddy." She patted Baron's neck. Peppermint crept over to Baron and licked the side of his face. "Haha it look, it seems like Baron and Pepppermint missed each other too. That's pretty odd that two male horses are like that toward each other...err..." Then Nika watched Peppermint trot off to the side to urinate. She observed this, awkwardly and noted, "er...Peppermint is a girl." She laughed, embarrassed. "I guess I never realized." She laughed more.

Now that she was away from the rest of the court, Ashling let her defensive wall crumble. She smiled big, tossing her parasol away and jumping down off Baron and onto Nika.
"Niiiikkkkkaaaaaa!!!" she cried, dangling off her neck. "My, you are tall! My feet don't reach the ground anymore!...Oh, Peppermint's a girl? How sweet!"
Baron made the moves onto Peppermint, trying to win her over with his muscles and prowess. "Baron! You showoff you!" she giggled.

Nika laughed and hugged her friend close.
"Damn it, Ash, I'm not gonna let ya go this time! I'm not gonna let some barbaric punk try to marry you!!! Gahhh!" She sighed, putting her down.
"Oh well...at least our horses seem to be happy." She laughed.

She let go of her friend and took a step back. "But Nii, the marriages are to keep the peace in the kingdom?" Ashling paused, then frowned slightly to the ground. "A whole 'nother bloody war...more lives wasted...more lives ruined..."
Picking up her petticoats and kicking off her slippers, Ashling waded into the shallows of the lake. "We never found the name of this lake...not even on a map..."she said. "Actually...I think the map didn't even have this place marked...?"

"I don't think so...." Nika sighed.
"As for the marriages...I guess you are right. But I just want to leave this place. I believe that we can still make peace with Maul kingdom without marrying their people. I have studied about these matters as of late..." Nika said, removing her below-the-knee chaps and metal boots and joining her friend in the lake.

Naum sat in his tree and fell deep into his loud thoughts. "These people from the other nation dont seem bad.Why are we at war anyways?I never understood why we had to fight, even if there is a reason.I mean it's not like the girls we're supposed to marry here are supposed to like us or anything.So why should we be getting married then?" He asked himself the same things over and over in his head never letting those thoughts leave his mind at one second.

Ashling looked back to Nika, startled by the latest news. "There is a way where we don't have to marry these men? These barbaric men??" Hope shone in her eyes, renewed by the sudden revelation that she may be able to live the way she wanted to, never being unwillingly tied to a man she barely knows.
"Oh Nii, if that's really true...then I...I...what's that?"
Ashling pointed to a section of white, churning water near the center of the lake.

"Eh?" Nika glanced over at the center of the lake.... "That is strange..."
She looked at Ashling, confused.
"Oh...yeah, I hope I can do something...to make these senseless nobles realize the heart of the matter...and that the solution isn't arranged marriages! Honestly! Money can't buy brains....it buys books...which become brains....but even so, you have to know how to use your knowledge..." She had an uneasy feeling about the lake. "A difference in temperature in the currents, perhaps? A sandbar?" She said, referring to the lake.

Naum sighed and jumped down from the tree and sat down in the grass. "Why do we have to marry them any ways?A woman I don't know is supposed to marry me for no apperent reason...I want to marry some one with meanign behind it.." said Naum with a sad tone. "I wonder what these girls think of us...maybe they think we are monsters....or maybe they think we are something worse..." He said lifting one knee and putting his arm on it looking at the horizon. "I wish there was just a way for this to end..." He said with a sigh. "I want to make these people think more of me then just being some boy from Maul..or what ever they think of me as..." He said looking down at the grass.

He was still looking up at the sky why do we have to marry total strangers? I mean thay dont even like use let alone want to marry us. It's sick and stupid what the hell kind of life would it bring. he sighed

((Haha I'm sorry but I just have to laugh for a second....it seems the three of us are getting the same 'thoughts'....vive le revolution...))
Nika sighed, trying to ignore the strange pooling of white in the center of the lake.
Funny how no one has agreed with me...I guess they'd rather be bossed around by nobles...except Ashling of course but she's the only one I've managed to discuss it with. If I told any of the other Princes or Princesses they might sneer and report me to the King and Queen. Feh. She skipped a rock.
