Nicholai frowned, heaving a sigh into her mane. "It would be considered proper to meet with a lifemated female without her lifemate around? And though you clearly are mine, we are not bound...I was under the impression that such things were improper..."

Nicholai scoffed, "I feel as if I owe many words to your father on the ways of running a household. Our own children will never need fear such things..." He dropped his head down to her neck, "Though your brother reminds me of my own. Headstrong, full of arrogance, and quick to anger. You will not meet my brother other than through my memories unless he finds his other half. I cannot trust him around you." His voice was sad, mirroring the sorrow in his heart for his brother.
