Of Blood and Gold I know,
of the freedom of a ship,
and only the wind holding you back.

"Think about how I reclaimed the ship Tessa. Scarlett's feathers were not the only ones ruffled I am sure, and now with everything that is happened recently, I am sure they are unhappy, and a mutiny would be best to avoid," Jack said, looking towards the sea. "The Duchess would be useless to the Sisterhood if it fell back into untrustworthy hands. Let me speak with Mr. Porter and Calypso," He said turning back to Tessa.

So cold...
All the same, all about me.
The wit, the wisdom.
Here I stand,
Here I live...
The truth of a revelation, frozen in fear.
Slowly dying...

Tessa nodded. She quickly cycled through the possibilities, given what Fedran had mentioned and just as quickly turned back to the cabin. She had almost entered when she turned back to Jack with a slight frown.
"I will be down with Illumine, when you are done Jack." She said quietly.
Without another word, nor moment of hesitation she kept on, dropping to a knee beside Illumine's still-frozen body.

Jack nodded before setting out. He ducked below deck and found Calypso and Mr. Porter conveniently alone. "Ah. Good!" Jack said with a smile. He walked to the rum stores and returned with three bottles, Calypso's curious gaze not leaving him. Jack put down two of the bottles in front of Calypso and Mr. Porter before taking a seat across the table from them.

"We are needed, and may not be able to make port for a time," Jack said after drinking from his bottle. "And our prior plans will need to be halted."

"And what were those plans Jack?" Calypso asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as if she knew the answer. Jack froze for a second before taking a gulp of rum and answering.

"Isle de Mortina, Jack said softly. Mr. Porter gasped, crossed himself, and spat on the table. Jack eyed it before leaning casually away.

"You couldn't possibly be that mad! The crew all knows the story!" Mr. Porter said in a hushed hiss. Jack rolled his eyes and looked to Calypso who's gaze was now leaning towards a glare.

"Scarlett would be the only one going ashore," Calypso said harshly. "I will not hear of her going back there,"

"Aye, not now, Tia, Calypso," Jack said with a grin. "Now we go to where we are needed, and the crew needs to be fine," He said looking to Mr. Porter.

"Aye, if the word mutiny is even breathed..." Mr. Porter closed his eyes and shook his head. "I will see to the crew...but really? No port? How else are we to repair the ship?"

"That will be taken care of, I am told. Ring up the command to chart a path for open water," Jack said standing. He made it to the hatch before Calypso grabbed his arm roughly.

"She will not be harmed," Calypso said, her eyes glowing with a fierce protectiveness. Jack furrowed his brow and leaned away from her before ascending to the deck.

"That is interesting..." Jack said, standing at the edge of the massive hole, looking back at the hatch, brow still furrowed.

Tessa looked up through the hole, raising a curious eyebrow at Jack's assessment of his encounter. Standing, she walked over to a crate and tested its stability before using it as a platform to climb up through the hole.
"And just what is so interesting, Jack?" She inquired, "Even I can miss a hint when it refers to nothing at all."
After a moment's thought, she decided it best she not get involved. It was becoming evident as it was that her intrusions would not be looked at kindly by the crew as it were, let alone when the other goddesses arrived. With a resigned sigh, she slowly walked back to the cabin and sat against the wall, deep in thought.

"Nothing, love," Jack said quietly before following Tessa back to the cabin. He took a seat at his desk and looked over the charts on the surface. "Mr. Porter for one is glad for the diversion in our course," Jack said, looking up at Tessa before back to the charts. His finger tapped where they were for a moment before looking back up at Tessa. "What is our heading?" He asked.

Tessa shone blue for a brief moment before shaking her head and looking up to Jack with a faint smile.
"They'll be here before too long," she assured him, "They have their own means of transport without a mortal shell."
She stood slowly, making her way to a corner of the cabin and sitting against it with her head down and eyes closed.
"It's been so long, Jack... and yet I'm not even into my fourth century yet. I don't think I'll ever get used to this."

"That is what I thought when I was first changed. From mortality to immortality...then again I wasn't given much time to think about it. I was sure my immortality was to be spent in a spell of damnation, with hardly any way out," Jack looked up at Tessa. "Until of course you came," He smiled at her before looking back down to his compass. The ship lurched as the sails caught wind and Jack cursed, catching his rum bottle before it fell to the floor. "Damn, do they not know the word smoothly?" Jack muttered under his breath.

A breeze upon the sea,
And a storm across the heavens.

True freedom knows no bounds.

With a sudden shift of the wind, another, slightly unfamiliar figure appeared three paces short of Tessa, facing Jack with a slightly uneasy expression.
"That may have been my doing," she confessed, "my apologies."
She dipped into a bow, taking a moment to relax and offer a smile.
"My name is Winera. I'm sure you've heard something of me, yes?"

Tessa dropped her head slightly lower and sighed softly. Her breathing slowed, body relaxing continually more though she was not asleep by any means.

Jack looked up and nodded, looking past her to Tessa. His jaw muscle clenched slightly before relaxing, and he stood. "Captain Jack Cortez at you service," He said, bowing himself, his eyes not leaving Tessa for a moment. He stood back up, and looked to the balcony. "The others will be arriving momentarily I presume?" Jack asked, hands clasped behind his back.

Winera smiled, but shook her head slightly as she indicated the cabin door behind her.
"They are here already. I have them well-enough concealed for the time being, as Eras and Fedran are inspecting the damages done here. It seems as if you've taken a whole volley from the heavens - what happened to it?"
Her eyes finally caught Jack's direction and within a moment she had traced them to Tessa, and with a knowing frown she nodded slightly, taking a respectful step back.
"She has Waeran's memory now," she explained quietly, "and I can hardly imagine how difficult it must be for her to bear with a mortal mind. She will be alright, I promise Jack."

"I did what was necessary to stop Illumine," Jack said, looking back to Weriel. His gaze fell back to Tessa and he listened to Weriel before nodding and looking back out to the balcony. "I still have yet to know our destination," Jack said, insisting the point that he needed to know where they were going.

"Continue as you were, Jack," Winera said calmly, "your course needs no changing from an unnoticed arrival. All I ask is a place to remain for a time, and it might as well be as though we do not exist."
She looked to the desk for a moment, spotting Tessa's note and reading it quickly despite her distance from the letter itself. She offered a sad smile.
"I have known young Tessa for a good many years, Jack. Day after day she would speak of a lost hope for herself, that no man could ever find heart enough to come to her and despite our every effort, none of us could get her to see a hope in mankind. I must admit, that she could have written such a note as lay on that table tells me you are truly one of a kind, Jack Cortez. On this I do applaud you."
She raised her hands in a silent clapping, her smile widening slightly as she did so.

Jack looked back at Weriel and down at the note. "One of a kind," He said quietly, a small strained smile passing through his face. "And yet you speak of a man," He said, turning back to the window. "Just how undetectable are you?" He asked after a moment, a fleeting fearful thought passing through his mind at the thought of one goddess.

Winera smiled thoughtfully, looking for a moment about herself before fading from all view. Only her voice could be heard from the point where she had been.
"The winds themselves are immaterial, Jack. In that I say we are hidden, you might say we lose our material being to the winds themselves by my hand. An entity without substance is one uncontaining of essence, and thus rendered nonexistent. Undetection is the least I can do, I assure you."

"Even still, you mustn't tread into the presence of Tia Anjek. The wrath of the seas, and a woman at that, is a bitter one," Jack said, looking back and narrowing his eyes slightly. He took a seat at his desk and took a drink from his rum bottle. He set it back down and looked over his charts for a moment.
