Not a problem. The first thing you need to know is the Base terms for these counting methods. For example, the common Decimal method of counting is Base 10. What this means is there's 10 possible values for each digit. Those values are 0-9. The other big thing about the Base number is that you can use that to determine what each digit represents. To find the full value of each digit, you use the formula Value *( Base ^ (Digit-1)). (^ means to the power of, yes we get into exponents with this.). So, if we have the number 4, the equation would be 4 *(10 ^0). We use 4 because that's the value of the digit, 10 because we're in base 10, and 0 because it's the first digit, and when you subtract 1 you get 0. The result is 4, because anything ^ 0 is always 1, so you're multiplying 4 * 1.

Alternatively, if we had the number 500, the equation would be 5*(10^2). 10^2 is 100, times 5 is 500.

Now, that determines each individual digit's value, so to find the full number just add them together.

516 = 5*(10^2) + 1*(10^1) + 6*(10^0)
