People say that beauty and brains don't mix,"You better get me a ton of chocolate!" Rena screamed into Kestrel's back as her arms wrapped tighter around his waist. She was well past her hysterical stage since after all the crazy going on, she was now flying on the back of a dragon with a woman who was there to save her. In the back of her mind, she knew that the man the biznitchy queen called Aithorn and his female counterpart were to be trusted. There was no way to know that since she had never met them, at least not in this life, but her heart felt a bit more in peace as they furthered the distance between them and the dark kingdom.
With a sigh, she closed her eyes and rested against Kestrel. Her heart was beating like the energizer bunny from their day, but soon the light of the new place soothed her. Opening her eyes, she saw the new land and couldn't help but be in awe. No artist could paint a scenic picture as this. No darkness lurked around to ensnare her in a nightmare, but rather light wafted everywhere to bring happiness and joy to her heart. "Where are we?" she asked the woman that drove the dragon towards a magnificent castle.
'This feels like home...' Rena thought to herself as her heart began to beat regularly and her arms relaxed around Kestrel's waist. They only tensed once again once they landed in front of the large entrance of the castle, but then again she felt she'd fall off the dragon during the landing. Sliding off the back, she waited for Kestrel to get off before she looped her arm through his. This might feel like home but there was on way they were going to separate them. He was the only familiar face and she wasn't going to let him out of her sight. "I don't mean to be rude, but can someone please explain to us what on Earth is going on?" but I'm the girl that proves them all wrong.

-Kestrel- As the left the world of darkness he felt weaker. That place definitely felt like home. Even thought the people there tried to kill him. He knew he would need to return to that place someday. As they approached the realm of light he saw its beauty. It was something out of a movie. He knew this was the kind of place that Rena would like, but for some reason he hated it. It felt like he didn't belong there. "I'm sure they have some chocolate here" he said laughing. "With faeries stirring it up just for you." They landed right in front of the castle and he helped Rena down before he jumped off himself. Landing weakly on the ground he picked himself up. Rena looped her arm through his and he smiled at her. His hat had fallen off and he stopped to picked it up. "This was my favorite hat too" he said as he looked at the holes in it. Throwing it to the side he followed the woman that flew them their. "Alexandria" said the woman. "This is where the queen of light lived before she died..." she said sadly. "And it is where Rena will live from now on. As the new queen of light" Kestrel looked at her strangely, but followed so that they could learn more. "If she is the queen of light..then who am?" He asked. Surely she would know. She was looking at him weird the entire time. They walked through the castle hallway. A masterpiece of pictures and not a spec of dirt to be found. "You are the King of Darkness the reincarnation of the one who killed to Queen of Light." She said it so calmly he almost didn't believe her. It would explain alot of things, but he didn't want it to be true. "What was his name? this old King." he asked her. "Vesperus" she answered. That was the name everyone had been calling him. He looked at Rena. "Why did he do it? He loved her." he asked. He had dreams about events of the past. Love songs that Vesperus wrote, but never showed to his love. He made a few songs out of them, but never quite understood them til now. Aithorn walked in after them and sent some guards away. "I don't know." he answered. "And officially Rena isn't the queen until she accepts the role...we cannot force her. Even though we need her now more than ever." he said looking at her. "Rena, we need you to take your role as the Queen of light. You've seen what Pandorous is capable of. She'll destroy this kingdom to get what she wants. Which is you and Kestrel dead..."

Darkness haunts me wherever I go...'Faeries, that's the last thing I need...' Rena thought to herself with a silent laugh as she slightly shook her head. She was grateful for Kestrel trying to ease the tension of this day with a joke, but she knew not if faeries were real here. For all she knew, every myth known to man might become real in this place. Especially with beauty as around her, it seemed that anything was possible yet logic dictates everything here was impossible. Aspirin time please! The headache going to come with too much thinking was already asking for a double dose.
Listening to Amore, or at least she felt as though that was her name, speak, she let reality vs myth subside in her mind and who she was to the forefront. She was a queen of light and he the king of darkness? Had they fallen into some lame book from the fantasy section? Next thing you know, she'll have halfy babies with Kestrel that can control the elements! Sighing, she rubbed her temples and squarely looked at Amore. "So what you're telling us is that he and I are reincarnated royalty that once loved one another, but he stilled killed me, we ended up on Earth, are now not on Earth, and you expect me to sit on a throne of a kingdom I know nothing about? And you expect me to do what? Wave a magic wand and make everything okay and that crazy queen lady go poof? That's about right right?"
Rena was normally sweet, but she couldn't help the sarcasm from her words. To make matters worse is that if she and Kestrel are reincarnated lovers, he had a child and she was almost positive it didn't come from her. Maybe that's why he killed her, she might have gotten mad at him for loving another woman. Logic might be key to her, but even logic can be overrun with too strong an emotion such revenge. After all, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Maybe it was that demoness throwing herself on him back in that nightmarish place... She had not a clue anymore... at least until I open my eyes to the light reality around me.

Why do I feel so strange, as if...
Kestrel sighed. This was way more than he had the attention span for, and now he was feeling very light headed. It was way to light here. It was annoying, but at that moment it felt like it was actually weakening him. Aithorn was the first to notice this, but he just laughed in his mind. "You will be trained ofcourse. We will need to remind you of how to use your power. That is why we gave you that weapon. It will help to unlock your true potential." said Aithorn. "Vesperus was a very confusing man. He was strong and vicious. But he had a light side to him that contradicted everything he did. Because of that he was betrayed by his wife and his council. During that fight he lost something of himself. Kestrel here is very strange. Vesperus was much more cruel at his age...." Amore stepped up and cleared her throat. "I think we are over loading them Aithorn perhaps we should let them explore a little first." she offered.
Aithorn grumbled but eventually gave in. "Fine I suppose she isn't attacking soon...at least I hope she isn't" Aithorn walked away to attend to other things on his royal agenda. "So that was my son..." he said looking at his chest where the sword has stabbed him. It was completely healed now but the hole was still there. "Why would Vesperus do it...the answer is somewhere. I'll find it." He held his head. "Rena do you believe any of this?" he asked looking at her. He was sure she was just as confused as he was if not more. Amore looked at him. "Ves...I mean Kestrel where is your weapon?" she asked. Kestrel shook his head. "I don't know. It disappeared" he answered. "Focus on it...if you don't your going to pass out" she answered.
...There was something I was supposed to tell you.

Humanity cannot stand reality,Rena rolled her eyes at Aithorn. He acted so superior and all knowing, but she thought him arrogant and still in much need of many life lessons. Then again she was only eighteen and knew nothing of life's lessons. He was much more confusing than how he made this Vesperus character seem. Kestrel, reincarnated Vesperus, was easier to understand and she was just starting to get to know him. Plus he did puff out his chest and act like a proud peacock. Hiding her smile at the thought, she finally tuned into what was being said.
'So he did have a wife that wasn't my past self.' she thought to herself but made sure her body didn't convey any thoughts. Instead she tugged on his arm and began to pull him away from the beautiful castle and their two saviors. "I think I do, after all it makes sense in its own right. Plus it just feels right inside, doesn't it? That we somehow belong in this world? It also explains how you felt you knew me and how I always got funny feelings around you." she said as she kept walking. While on the dragon, she noticed a forest not too far away from where they landed.
Surely it would have some shadows, or at least that's what Rena hoped. Something about the thought of him passing out made her think he needed to be in some darkness. A forest filled with numerous tree tops could and would provide sufficient cover for him. Entering the edges of the forest, she walked a bit further before guiding him under the dark shade of a nearby tree. "How are you feeling?" she asked as she knelt beside him. It felt funny in the shadows, but just being in Alexandria was enough to make her feel okay. but what happens when reality fails to be real and leaves you in the void of your dreams?

Sometimes I feel a darkness driving me...
Glad that he had Rena to depend on he let her lead him where ever she thought he would feel better. "It would explain alot of things...but the things I want to know are hazy. His memories combined with mine, and I can barely separate them anymore. But what do we do about the people in our own world? Our friends and families are going to miss us. We can't stay here all the time." he said holding his head. They were heading towards a forest. She sat him down in some shade and he started to feel a little bit better. "A little bit better, but if I want to be able to walk around this place I'm going to need to learn how to control my weapon. I haven't seen it since it vanished earlier." He looked around at how dark it was. "Are you ok? I remember you don't handle the dark so well" he said looking at her. She looked better than when she was his "home".
Looking at his hand he tried to remember his weapon. The way it made him feel and the shape of it. A green flame started in his hand, but it didn't burn him. He focused trying to make it take form. The sword shoot out and he made sure it wasn't towards Rena. He held it and let it rest on the ground. That tired him out more than it probably should have, but he felt the sword giving him strength. "She was right. I feel better." he said smiling. "But I should find a way to hide it or the people around here may get scared." If his memories were right he should be able to change it into different things. He knew the music was somehow related. He didn't need exactly say it. Just thinking about it.
another dawn collapses do I need to be reminded? a glimpse of my safe home a path to hide all anger
His weapon started to change into a rod shape. Strings whipped around before a shape he knew all to well formed. A guitar. He held it and played a few notes humming gently. "I think this will do" he said smiling. "Now we can think more about this. Or we can check this place out. I think if we keep breaking our brains over this we'll pass out from that alone." Now that he could think straight he was curious about this place. It didn't seem real. "What do you think we should do, my queen." he said laughing. He sounded like a knight from those old movies.
...For now I will put that darkness into my music.

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things..."At least you have some memories. I just have vague feelings about different things. Nothing is coherent about anything in my mind right now. Rena began as she shifted backwards so the light hit her back. Smiling at the nice feeling, she knew that him in the shade and she in the light helped proved that Amore's words were true. What that meant for them in the near future she didn't want to fathom at the moment. "As for our families, I don't know what we'll do. But if they got us here, that means they can surely take us back. Though obviously we're needed here so we'll need to figure out some type of schedule." she said but stopped there.
How would she explain to her parents that she was the reincarnated queen of light from a magical realm and that she was needed there for a part of the time? They would put a stamp on her head and ship her off to the loony bin. Plus they'd be disappointed that the valedictorian wouldn't finish high school and that would hinder in the future for trying to become a Senator. Everything in shambles in their minds. Sighing, she smiled so Kestrel wouldn't worry about her. "I'm fine, but I'm glad you're a bit better. I don't think I could carry you back. Maybe drag, but that'd ruin what clothes we have left. Who knows what they'd put us in if these were ruined." she said with a laugh. She had a vague feeling of what her other self wore and she was definitely not wearing that around boys.
As Kestrel pulled out his weapon, Rena had the urge to back up more. It was filled with darkness and made her think of that garish place they had to be rescued from. But so as not to make him put away the one thing that makes him feel better, she pulled out her mirror. It calmed her nerves as she looked down at her own reflection. "Amazing how these weapons can take different shape. After all, who would be afraid of a guitar or mirror? But we can sense the power lying inside them." she said as she turned the mirror so Kestrel could see his reflection. They both were a bit of a mess, but he worse than she since those demonesses couldn't keep their hands off of him.
"Please don't call me that. I'm no queen nor do I have any urge to take that title. But I do think we should check things out more yet I have no clue where to start. Alexandria seems quite large of a place." she said as she looked back the way they came. Something told her there was something... someone lurking out there that had many of the answers to their questions, but who that was and where they were was a matter she knew not. She only knew it was neither Aithorn or Amore. ...which escape those who dream only by night.

The weak can never forgive...
"I'd rather have none...most of his are rather unpleasant." he said trying to forget about them. "Vesperus wasn't a very happy person." He stood up and helped Rena to her feet. He tied the guitar onto his back and Rena put her arm in his. "They may need us here, but we have friends who need us at home. The demon's know a way to our world, and if they really wanted to they could reek havoc there as well" he said. He smiled at her comment about the clothes. "I don't know from what I've seen Vesperus was a pretty good dresser." He walked towards the town seeing that it didn't make him feel as weak anymore. "We are going to have to accept our roles sooner or later. Be glad that where you will be the people there aren't trying to kill you..." he said laughing slightly. He was wondering how he would take his home back, and he knew there would be blood. He would need to train or else it would be his blood spilt. But he knew no one here could teach him.
Clearing his mind of that he looked at Rena. "How about we just walk around there is no rush right now. Amore said we shouldn't overload our brains." he suggested. Leading her into town he looked at all the shops in the streets. They sold various foods and clothes. The clothes there looked different, but not bad. The food looked good, but he remembered something when he saw a box of chocolates. He walked up to it and the shopkeeper seemed a little nervous. "How much for these?" he asked. He pulled out his wallet and looked at the money. "Oh ya I can't use this here..." he said sadly. The shop keeper handed him the chocolates. He looked scared. "H-here its on the house." said the shopkeeper. Kestrel looked at him and smiled. He took the chocolates and walked back to Rena.
"Do I look scary to you Rena?" he asked as he handed her a piece of chocolate and tried one himself. "Gosh thats really sweet!" He usually didn't eat sweet candy. He loved the sour stuff like Zours and sour skittles. But his main food was vegetables. Roxy always made fun of him for liking them, but he really didn't care. "This town is really something" he said looking around. "Everyone is so happy looking"
...Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.Keeping hold of his arm, Rena stayed silent as Kestrel spoke. She wondered what the memories were like that would bother him. Asking him about them would probably not help him though, they were, after all, his memories that he had to short through, new and old. She would have to do the same whenever her memories came back. 'I wonder why I haven't began to remember things like him... Maybe my memories might just be insignificant in comparison. Oh well, it doesn't matter at the moment.' she thought to herself as she graciously accepted the chocolate.
Taking a bite, she smiled exuberantly at the sweetness. It was the best chocolate she ever had, but she felt a pang of guilt that they got something so rich since Kestrel scared the man. "You don't look scary, it's just you give off a dark vibe and this place is light. Don't take it personally." she said as she gave him a smile. Dettaching herself from his arm, she pulled a crystal clip from her hair and gave it to the man as compensation as well as apologizing for any fright Kestrel might have given him. Her sweet smile seemed to be enough to calm the man as he accepted the small payment with a somewhat gracious smile.
"Everyone does look rather happy, but if they're so happy here and the people in the dark are half way content in the dark, then why are we needed? Shouldn't every one here be able to handle whatever it is they need to handle and we go home?" Rena asked as she took another piece of chocolate from Kestrel. She nibbled at it while her thoughts raced. She had a bad feeling about everything, but she smiled at Kestrel through the feeling. They were supposed to be relaxing on this stroll and not thinking too much, but thinking was something she could never stop from doing. Then throw it in the face of the person who gave you the lemons until they give you the oranges you originally asked for.

Its ok to lose yourself in the music...
He knew what she meant, but that didn't ,make him feel any better. They must seem like ying and yang walking through the down. Polar opposites that somehow got along. The man smiled as they walked away, and then he felt a little bit better. "Because of Pandorous she is planning something...Her mind was twisted, and something strange was giving her power. I could see it when she hit me." he said. "When she finally makes her move they will need strong fighters just to hold her back, and they will need us to take her down" The kept walking and thinking even though this was supposed to be a no thinking zone. "You think we should go back and see Aithorn and Amore now?" he said looking at her.
It was starting to get late. Even at night he was sure this place would be lit up with something on the streets. He would sneak out and check it out later. He was sure he would like the night much more than the day. But they didn't have to head right away if she didn't want to. This was a huge place, and he was sure there was much more the explore around this place. But he was a little tired from everything they had gone through in the last twenty four hours he thought he and she deserved a little rest.
...It's when you come back to reality that you get bothered.

Never look back on your past, for what happened then can no longer be changed."So what if that lune is planning something? They obviously won the war before even after our old selves died. They have strong fighters and we are untrained and barely learning of this world, what help are we other than a good trick play?" she asked with an incredulous tone. It made sense, if Pandorous was to attack very soon, then what aide would she and Kestrel give? He might know a bit about street fighting, but that wouldn't help in a magical realm. She knew nothing of fighting and was notorious for avoiding fights at school. Instead, she was the mediator in her group of stereotypical preppy teens.
Nodding her head, she smiled at him as she pulled on his arm to walk towards the castle. At least they wouldn't get lost heading towards it since it was the tallest structure in the immediate area. Something in her told her she would be sleeping on the top level and would find the clothes they would recommend her to change in there. Where Kestrel would sleep, she didn't know, but the top level that would definitely see the morning sun was probably not the best place for him. Then again she didn't want to be separated from him. "Let's go get some rest, we've had a quite.... exciting day. And we'll see if we can find you a new hat in the castle." she said sweetly as they kept walking.
It didn't take long to reach the castle. Soon they were walking through the gate and towards the large entry way. The guards gave them funny looks, probably because of their attire, but she simply smiled at them and kept walking. Stopping in the entry way, Rena caught the attention of a maid. "Excuse me, can you tell me where I might find Aithorn and Amore?" she asked sweetly. Nodding hurriedly, probably since Kestrel scares her, she turned and began to lead them to where they would find Aithorn and Amore. "It's beautiful." she whispered to Kestrel as they walked through the numerous corridors of the castle. Look forward towards your future, for that is what is in your control.

War is not its own end, except in some catastrophic slide into absolute damnation... Kestrel was excited that he might get a new hat, but he knew it wouldn't be the same. That hat had been with him for years, and it become a part of him. "This place it really nice, but I like it a little less shiny." Kestrel said laughing. The castle had insanely high ceilings. The castle in the dark had the same, but you couldn't see them because they were so dark. The realm of light felt just like school to him. People looked him differently because of the way he looked. Here they were scared of him, but at school they just that he was a rebel.
Aithorn and Amore were in the study. Aithorn had many papers to look over and sign, and Amore was doing her best to make the job more pleasant. Placing a glass of juice on the table she smiled. "Thanks dear" he said taking a sip out of it and placed it back down. His signature was very carefully made. He was a perfectionist and never liked for it to look like he rushed it. A maid came in and told him that Kestrel and Rena where coming in soon and he nodded. Putting the quill pen away he smiled as he waited for the two to enter. She had them wait outside so she knew he would be ready.
As they walked in he tried to be as nice as possible. He had a knack for being a little too aggressive. He couldn't help it he is in charge of an army. He had to be rough with them. He waited for the two to enter and take a seat in the chairs in front of his desk. "Is there something that you need?" he said looking at Rena mostly. He would love to help them both, but Kestrel was of the land of dark a place that he knew nothing about.

To love, and be loved,"Let me guess, you'd rather have a secluded corner with an amp and guitar?" Rena said playfully as they waited outside the study. Why they couldn't walk in was beyond her, but then again the haughty Aithorn probably just liked to feel in control. He reminded her greatly of a drill sergeant and she wouldn't be surprised if that was what he originally was. Amore, however, seemed sweeter which made it surprising that she could also fight. That girl was probably as tough as nails when it really came down to it. Beginning to bounce upon the balls of her feet as she waited, she smiled largely when they were allowed in.
Crossing her legs as she sat, she tried her best to have a sweet smile as he asked them what they needed. She definitely took notice to the fact he barely looked at Kestrel, but most people avoided locking their gazes on him. Poor boy, she'd have to give him a hug later to make up for it. "Well to be blunt, we would like rooms to sleep in and maybe a spare change of clothes. We're quite tired from... the events that took place today. And I was wondering what was on the top floor of the castle." Her words were simple and her tone was politely innocent. If it was one thing she'd never forget, it was her manners in someone else's home. is to feel the sun from both sides.

War is not its own end, except in some catastrophic slide into absolute damnation...
"Ofcourse, but you would have to be there" said Kestrel smiling as the walked into the room. "Your good inspiration you know". Aithorn saw her smile and it reminded him of how the queen used to be in her younger days. The queen slowly became worried as time went on. It was probably stress from having to watch the kingdom for so long. Aithorn had only had a taste of it and he was already feeling burdened. "On the very top floor in the bell tower, but under that is the Queen's room" answered Aithorn. "We have kept in clean all these years for when she would return." Amore rested on the desk. She looked at Rena for a moment. "You aren't quite tall enough for the queen's clothes, but we can make some modifications." she said. "They will be ready for you by morning. We have some night attire for you to wear after your bath." she said. Aithorn looked at Kestrel and Rena. They sat close as if to protect one another. He thought to himself for a bit. "Kestrel you may have the guest room near the queen's room. Well shut the windows for you, and tell the maid not to burn the candles. But in the morning I will begin teaching you swordsmanship. As my rival its embarrassing to see you this weak."
Kestrel looked at him confused. "Rival? Me? Ive never even fought with a sword once." he said. "But Vesperus was perhaps the greatest swordsman of all time." answered Aithorn. "Those skills will come back to you with practice" Kestrel sat there wondering what he had gotten himself into. Suddenly he heard a voice in his head. "You want the power to protect her don't you...?" said the voice to him. Kestrel nodded. "I'll take the training. Thank you Aithorn" he responded. Aithorn was very surprised. "I didn't expect someone like you Kestrel to take my training with such enthusiasm." he said smiled. "I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised!" Kestrel tried to take it as a compliment. "We'll let's get ready for bed. You both have a big day ahead of you" Amore said smiling.
...It's peace that's wanted. Some better peace than the one you started with.

Darkness grows and distorts our path...'I'm so glad I'm not afraid of heights.' Rena thought to herself with a silent laugh. It helped her mood that she also had a clean room that she somewhat remembered. The only thing she was fearful of, other than the nasty dark, was her future attire. Behind closed eyes she remembered very... sensual armor; something that would even make a lady of the night blush. Well not really, a lady of the night would be far more revealing, but the thought made her fear lessen with such humor. Plus she was shorter than her old self, so she could ask for other modifications other than just a fix of a hem.
Elbowing Kestrel in the side playfully as he agreed to training. Standing and pulling Kestrel up from his place, she let Amore stand and start their way to the top level after saying a quick goodbye to Aithorn. "Amore, if Aithorn trains Kestrel, then I assume you shall train me?" she asked curiously as her arm found Kestrel's once again. It was surprising how comfortable she was with him even though their present beings barely knew each other. Smiling up at him as they walked, she remembered his comment earlier about good inspiration. She knew it was Vesperus's memories of her past self, Celeste, but the thought was still sweet.
Reaching the top level, Amore stopped them in front of one door and motioned for Kestrel to go inside. "Goodnight, I'll see you in the morning." Rena said as she stood on her tip toes and kissed his cheek. Turning before anything else would happen, Amore led her a little ways down the hall to an intricate door. Opening it, she was astonished by the large and lavish room that was all for her. Looking around, everything felt so familiar and like home. Smiling, she only paused at the wardrobe. "That will be your daily outfit, as it was your past self's. Of course we'll alter the hem so it'll suit your height." Amore said with a smile as she pulled the outfit out of the closet for Rena to try.
Never before had Rena blushed so much before in her life than she did looking at herself in the mirror. The seamstresses came and went, adjusting the outfit to perfect length, but still far too revealing. It was basically a bra and one very long loincloth with at least cover underneath. And a hood, can't forget to hide part of her hair. Sighing, she tried arguing this way and that with Amore, but Amore wouldn't budge. It was in her opinion that the more things she had in common with her past self, the easier her memories come to her. Made sense, but she was still rather uncomfortable.
As Amore said goodnight and left her room, Rena had taken a bath only to return to the front of her mirror. Looking at herself, her old self flash in and out of her reflection. It amazed and frightened her a bit since it made her less sure of who she was at times. 'I wish Kestrel was here.' she thought to herself as she tore her gaze away and went to lay in her bed. Looking out at the balcony, she watched the stars twinkle before a dreamless slumber took her. We must now wait for the light to reshine and guide our way.
