The knight felt around for a pulse. "Okay. It's still alive, but I should probably turn it on it's back." he did so, the person's face should have been visible, but it was covered up by a mask that was cracked down the middle.

The knight stopped pulling on the mask and climbed out of the crater. "If that's the shadow, then I'm getting out of here!" the knight ran away in fear. According to the rumors, if anyone took the shadow's mask off, he would kill everyone in sight.

The shadow leapt up to his feet only to fall back down on his knees. He felt a sharp pain travel throughout his body as a blood red mist seeped out of the crack.

"You're about to see something that no one else has." he said hoarsely. The shadow began to peel the mask off and the cloud of mist grew until it filled the entire crater.

The mist cleared away, the mask was gone, and a young kaios boy stood in the crater.

"Yes. The Shadow is just a kaios, you can enslave me now." he looked down, thinking now that he was a kaios again, he wasn't worthy of looking at Serenity.
