24(Damage) - 5(Spheal's Defense) = 19 Damage Dealt
The attack nearly crushes the Spheal. The Pokemon looks extremely weak. It doesn't look like it can take much more damage before fainting.
Spheal is still standing but only just.
Make sure to roll your AC check before your Damage Check in the future.
The Spheal squeaked as it was hit with the powerful attack of the Nidoran. It bounced across the ice and slid to a stop. The Pokemon barely managed to get up. Its innocent face had been replaced by a glare as it began to suck in quite a bit of air. It then blew as hard as it could towards the Nidoran, intending on freezing the rude Pokemon that had struck it so hard.
Powder Snow – Ice
A layer of magic snow is pelted onto the target; it digs into their skin, trying to freeze them.

22 (Special Damage) - 4 (Nidoran's Special Defense) = 18 Damage Dealt
The attack does massive damage to Nidoran, causing him to faint.
Nidoran was knocked off of his feet and blown back. He landed in front of Metsuki with a loud thud which was followed by a small whimper. His eyes looked up at Metsuki weakly and then shut suddenly. Metsuki crouched next to him and put a hand on his chest. His breathing was slow and sounded laboring. "You did well, Keris. Let me and the others take care of the rest" he said as he unclipped a Pokeball from his belt and held it above the Nidoran. A bright light enveloped the small Pokemon and he was returned safely to his home.
Metsuki stood and looked at the Spheal. It was wincing from the pain that Keris had caused it. He could try and capture it now, but maybe he would bring out another Pokemon just in case he failed. "Mozilla! See if you can finish up this fight!" he yelled as he threw the Pokeball containing his Vulpix towards the Spheal. Mozilla came jumping out of the Pokeball and landed in a mound of snow. The snow almost instantly melted and turned to steam. The Vulpix looked around as if uneffected by the cold.

Now that he had a little extra help he could try and capture the Spheal before it could do any more damage. It was weak, that much was obvious, but it still had a lot of fight left in it. His only hope was that he could capture it so he could return to his teammates and get out of tis weather. The cold was really starting to get old.
He grabbed an empty Pokeball from his belt and threw it at the Spheal. "You've fought well, but I have to end this now!" Metsuki said mainly as a plea in hopes that luck would be on his side.

The Pokeball bounces off of the Spheal's thick hide and then rolls into the icy water, getting ruined. The Wild Pokemon barked at its new red foe and prepared to defend itself by rolling up into a ball. It wasn't sure what had been thrown at it, but it definitely wasn't happy about it.
Defense Curl – Normal
The user scrunches up into a ball, improving their defenses.
At-Will – None
Self
Effect: No Target
Defense Curl raises the user’s Defense 1 Combat Stage. If the user uses the Move Ice Ball or Rollout later in the encounter without having been switched out, the number of dice rolled in their Damage Check is doubled while using the attack.

Metsuki cursed to himself. Watching the Pokeball fail in such a way was a slap to the face. He couldn't risk having Mozilla attack the Spheal. It would easily finish it off. Instead, he decided to try again with another Pokeball. He was running out of options.
"Lets try this again!" he said as he grabbed a Pokeball from his belt and threw it at the Spheal. Perhaps he'd have better luck this time.

The Pokeball again bounced off of the Spheal's thick hide and landed in the water. The blubbery Pokemon squeaked and began to suck in a great deal of cold air and then spewed it out towards the Vulpix, hoping to ward off the new Pokemon. Spheal just wanted to go home.

The move barely seems to effect Vulpix. He is standing strong.
Mozilla hardly seemed to notice the attack that had been used on him. The cold air that the Spheal had shot at him had warmed at dissipated before it made contact with him. The Vulpix looked around almost as if he was completely uninterested in the fight. His mild disregard for the Spheal seemed to intimidate it. Metsuki could see it cower slightly as it cautiously eyed Mozilla. Perhaps now would be a good chance to capture it. He was running low on Pokeballs. If he didn't catch it soon then there would be no catching it.
He grabbed a Pokeball from his belt and threw it towards the Spheal.
