Jerohan DeirdreTonbo Jerohan So, been thinking some more for the magical schoolgirl RP... and, well, I'm kind of at a loss for one more thing. A trivial matter, but it could also be the focul point of some humor for the RP, and I know some people will be curious about it. What will the magic schoolgirl costume look like? So, I was wondering, is anybody here an artist, or know someone who is, that could cook us up a quick design? Google up Madoka Magica, look at their costumes. None of them match. Hmm... indeed... Well, then, I guess I can go with a new plan; everyone can design their own costumes. Excellent! Problem solved! You can pick a certain... feel to them? Like, the madoka girls are all rather ruffly aand loli?

Like, the madoka girls are all rather ruffly aand loli? Hmm, I think I'll let everyone describe what their own costume looks like. Give everyone a bit of customization to it, to match their characters class/personality type. For example, I was going to make my character a warrior type. This would give me the perfect opportunity to make fun of bikini armor, which, even though Im a guy, I LOATHE! Seriously, a bikini look for armor? That isn't protective! If I were fighting a girl dressed like that, it would make my job easier, because now the main place where I'd be stabbing at, their center of mass, is completely exposed!

And even that would be crap protection. There's virtually no padding under that particular suit. The links may stop the cut, but that much psi under that small an area WILL break bones!

Not to mention the pinching from the rings and the horrendous and weird sunburn that results. There was a College Humor video that circulated recently that was about female fantasy armor.

Woooooosh... clink! *swings the sword very slowly right at her armored crotch* See? You were protected from the blow!"

Well, I decided to go ahead and stop while I was ahead. Im pretty sure if I thought it over more I would make the rules and everything too complicated. So, yeah, the magical schoolgirl RP is open under the name of The Defenders.

What about a city of ember game? I've been reading the books after watching the movie and I think it'd make a decent rp setting. It's not completely aimed toward shoujo-ai but it could make do.
The setting is thus:
Sometime in the future there was war looming. Big big war, and it didn't look like humanity was going to make it. A city was built underground, a city who's inhabitants were to know nothing of the world outside so they would have nothing to miss. To the mayor of these people was given a box that would open in 200 years... but the box was lost. Now the food is running out in the City of Ember, a city lit entirely by artificial illumination, and the generator is dying.

Well. If it helps, D and I've been talking and I think I'mma start up a Firefly game when I get back. I may even have a D20 SHTF RP planned out too. Maybe. And I'm contemplating a variant of a Warehouse 13 type of RP.

I was toying with the idea of a somewhat different kind of setting.
I haven't really thought this through, so, bear with it, but I was thinking a setting based on the whole notion of globe-trotting adventurers from the 1930s, when men were men and women were dames or dolls. A team of treasure seekers in a propeller-driven seaplane travels from flashy glamour and seedy mob-scene of prohibition-era Chicago, to the nervous energy of a Europe quivering about the rising threat of Nazi Germany, the unexplored jungles of the Amazon, the untamed wilds of the heart of Africa, and the mysteeeeerious and inscrutable Orient - always finding high adventure and thrills. These gals would swing from adventure to adventure ranging from schmoozing in cocktail dresses to charging into action in riding breeches, safari hat and leather jacket with pistol in hand; they would be both femme fatale and two-fisted action heroines.
The flavour would be retro-chic, 20s- and 30s-style, like the kind of serialized pulp fiction stories that inspired Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Mummy. But it would also have the kind of "lost world" flavour from old adventure stories like King Solomon's Mines, The Lost World.
The story would follow a band of adventuresses on some kind of adventure that leads them around the world - possibly a race for some kind of ancient treasure.

Rawr.
Aw, I dunno if I can actually do it. I just kinda threw it out there to see if it would spark inspiration for someone. Something like that requires really good roleplayers - not just that they can roleplay, but that they understand they have to stay in the vibe, and keep that old adventure serial flavour going. Also, they would have to do some research on the time period so that they can properly fit into the rhythm of the setting, and not just be a bunch of anachronistic 21st century cosmopolitan girls wisecracking at how backward the 1930s was, and I seriously doubt I could get enough people that dedicated without a much bigger talent pool to trawl.
(Plus, I'd actually started to write the idea before Akai said anything, and didn't see her post until after I'd posted, otherwise I would've just let her ideas float a while.)

They are gunna float a while. I'm not going to act on any of them for almost another month.
And Aena, I would totally join but I'd have to squeeze in a couple of pulp fiction novels to get the feel first. Also, it might be a bit difficult to work the yuri into it. You could swap out the men for butches of the time, but they don't have that 30s pulp fiction rugged look.
